The store was charming, the attendant hospitable, and you could clearly see a man working behind the glass building chocolates. I purchased a pretty wide range of choices to bring back to the states. The chocolate lait caramel is the BEST CHOCOLATE I've EVER EATEN. It is unbelieveably delicious. I want to take a trip back to Montpellier just to get some. Their website describes how they create the chocolate - suffice it to say that both texture, taste, and physical appearance are incredible. The lady in the shop spoke English well enough to help us choose: a few dark pieces filled with ganache, a mint, a coffee creme filling, and one with gianduja. It's going to break my heart if these aren't available in the US. The owner says online that based on production times, each piece takes about 1 minute 20 seconds to create. And then you eat one in 20 seconds, while the flavors linger for a minute. And the memory of those flavors will linger even longer!!!

This is the kind of place that I always thought was only in the movies. A chocolate shop in France…read morewhere the chocolatier makes his chocolate in the store by hand and it tastes absolutely amazing. After tasting the chocolate I instantly starting smiling and realized I had never tasted real chocolate in my life. It's as amazing as it sounds. There are dozens of different little chocolate morsels and chocolate bars. The owner is so nice and was able to speak English as I struggled with my French. Best of all the owner and his apprentice were so nice to give my son a little taste for free. "The notion of chocolate contradicts the principal of free will" is the quote on his card and the best description of this place.
