They were kind enough to get it sorted without having to put a deposit or anything. Today we went to pick up the ham and it looked fabulous. English style leg of ham made by a small farmer in Salzburg area. I have had a lot of ham before and this would have to be one of the best ever. Not too salty and just perfectly smoked. I thought I was in heaven. It was a 12 kilo leg and we just got a portion of it with the bone in. They have many different meats, pates, deli items and so on here. They will order you stuff if you so desire from around Austria. They are very friendly here and helpful. They were happy to accommodate our every need and the prices were very reasonable. We bought some zirbenkäse here, that was also fabulous. This is a special alpine pine and used in many things as a flavoring. I would happily come back here anytime. It's an excellent quality butcher in a fabulous old building.

Although worth visiting just to stare at the amazing displays of meat, its also a winner to 1. pick up your lunch / dinner on a daily basis and 2. grab one of the local delights to take home with you as a souvenir (depending on import rules of course). To choose your lunch couldn't be simpler even if you don't speak Austrian as there is a picture board above the counter showing exactly what your lunch will look like and the staff speak good to pretty much fluent English. They are all lovely, friendly and helpful too. So don't worry if you cant speak any Austrian they are their to help you. My favourites were a gammon type sandwich, the frikadella type meatball sandwich and the good old roast chicken. You can also pick up some salad or chips on the side amongst a few other things. Hans shop is just at the bottom of the main Penken lift so you can't miss it and you don't have to take an additional journey or diversion in those awful ski boots! The quality is fantastic and the portions plentiful. At a time when you're either playing hard or working hard Hans is your man!

Aside from their amazing selection of oils, vinegars and spices, nearly half of their store is devoted to salt! Yes, salt. After all, it's what SALZburg is known for. I've never seen anything like it! Raspbery salts, floral salts, chocolate salts, etc. A salt shaker goes for a little over €10-- not too terribly expensive but it's quite easy to walk out with a couple of €100 missing from your wallet! It's too bad they don't have an online store. All of their items are high quality and unique, and will make for a great addition to your kitchen.
