Forgot to check if they had any pickles. As for condiments, I forgot the yellow tube was mayo versus mustard, which they brought out. I sat at the bar, but the downside is it's in the smoking section. The non-smoking section is just tables.

I love old diners, and I love a good veggie burger, but it's rare to two will actually meet. Add a vegan milkshake, and I'm in heaven. There is always really great rockabilly playing when I go in, the Ladies are super cool and helpful. Like when I made a to go order, and the server asked if I wanted to sub coleslaw since she didn't want me to be disappointed by sad, soggy fries when I got home. I told her they would be half demolished by the time I got on the autobahn, it's cool. She nodded and put in my order, no judgement! So, the only couple things I have to advise is to check the opening hours carefully, and arrive early to guarantee a table, though you may have to share a booth. Like, the first time I went, my kid and I got sat at a table with a couple on a very awkward-looking date, and it was super uncomfortable for everyone. I try to grab a spot at the bar when I can now. Also, they are cash only. Cash is king, and the Ladies are queens. Get some grub!

Moving to the food side of things, there menu offers everything you would expect: Burgers (regular beef, American Angus beef, chicken), pulled pork, hot dogs and chilli, and of course milk shakes. There's also a few expected salads and appetizers. Sadly, steaks are missing. We ordered several different burgers, and everyone left happy. Mine was the Farmer's, with bacon and an omelette, which was a nice difference compared to the usual fried egg. Prices are neither low nor high considering the style of the restaurant and the cost of similar joints. Overall, I would say a recommended choice for American dining in Karlsruhe.

Food was plentiful no matter what you order and you can even order a pitcher of soda. Which is best instead of paying up to 3€ for s soda you can order a 1.5 liter pitcher for under 10€. The burgers were juicy and thick and plump. Good to the last drop my husband says. Lol. They had the Mezzo Mix soda which is orange and coke cola mix. I don't think we sell that back in the states. I'll have to take a picture of what A Mezzo Mix soda looks like. I had Orangina. I keep seeing the billboards everywhere here in Germany and decided I need to try this stuff. Found this little gem while we were out and about, trying to go to one of the local festivals…read more Unfortunately, the festival (which was going to have burgers) was closed on Sunday. With burgers on our mind, I found Filou American Diner and we headed there. First tip, make a reservation if you want to sit inside. We went at 5:30pm on a Sunday, and were informed there would be an hour wait if we wanted to sit inside; we opted to sit outside and still had immediate service. Great selection of burgers and some interesting variations on burgers. Greek burgers, Italian burgers, spicy burgers, BBQ burgers...you name it. I haven't found any place in Germany that has really good American style hamburgers; not sure if it's the meat or that everything is well-done, but it's hard to replicate the American burger. Filou's gets close with their burgers. I had the Bison burger, which was priced right, cooked right, and just tasted great. The fries were cooked well, with just the right amount of crunch. Word of warning...the kids meals are fairly large; I've never seen so many fries in a kid's meal before. It all worked out, since I didn't order fries, and I imposed a "fry tax" on my boys. Overall, great little burger place, seemingly in the middle of the quiet town of Aidlingen. We will definitely make our way out here again.
