The costumers' clothes were completely soaked in milk forcing him to leave the restaurant and come back an hour later. In the meantime the waiters just served the food, which was of course cold when the costumer came back. Again no comment, no apologies, and the costumer had to insist for the food to be warmed up at least. Everything was put on the bill as if nothing had happened. I definitely won't go there again. It is not worth the food, there are other good Persian places.

I have had a lot of Persian cuisine in the past and really enjoyed it, so I was keen to try this place out. If you did not know this place, you are not likely to find it. It's located in a quite residential street and there is nothing but apartments around here. It's away from the city centre and obviously popular with people in the area. The name Djadoo in Hindi means "magic" and I suspect the same in Persian, as they have their napkins with Alladins Magic Lamp under the logo ;-)) The place is reasonably big, yet cosy. The place was packed but they were kind enough to get us a table. Our waitress was really sweet and very friendly and was quite happy to make recommendations for us. The menu here is huge and has many classical Persian dishes and many North African dishes from Morocco and Tunisia with a bit of turkey thrown in. They have a varied wine list from Lebanese, Turkish, Moroccon, Tunisian, French and Israeli wine. They also have some classic Persian drinks like pomegranate juice and so on. We decided to have a mixed starter and some tagine for main. The food here is excellent and full of flavour. The lamb was simply amazing and it just fell of the bone and no knife was needed for it :-)) It is relatively mild and has lots of piquante, fruity, saffrony and other sweet spice flavours. Persian food is slightly more greasy and creamy, but tastes heavenly. The saffron rice pudding with the pomegranate sorbet for dessert was a hit and once again a recommendation from the waitress. I usually do this in a new place, ask the staff for recommendations and try a few things. Service was super good and despite it being full it was quick and friendly. I found out during my conversation with the waitress that the restaurant has been open for 3 years. I would come back here in a heartbeat. This is excellent Persian / Oriental / North African cuisine with beautiful flavours, good service and not too expensive. It's certainly not a cheap place to eat but the quality is excellent. If you want to try something out of the usual this is really a great place to try. Ask for some recommendation and enjoy your meal. I could not fault our experience here tonight.

The most delicious meal I've had in a while! Was in Heidelberg for work and this place is around…read morethe corner from the Hilton I'm staying at. I'm so glad I came here. I was greeted by a friendly young woman and enjoyed looking at the decor they have. From the stitching on the chairs of sultans to the chandeliers, this place is quaint and sophisticated. I had a craving for Lamb and got a grilled lamb dish, the Barg with amber rice. The dish is not complex but the flavors were done so well. It's just a piece of meet with rice and a few roasted tomatoes but it's the spices that make this dish so unforgettable for me. I never knew Persian food was this delectable. This was the most tender saddle of lamb I've had and it isn't drenched in sauces but it is cooked with onions and salt and that is enough. I am usually a sauce person but the tomato juices with the various herb flavors in the rice were just perfect together. The saffron rice had some cinnamon sprinkled on top and at first I thought it would be weird but there's just the right amount to make the flavors unique and bring everything forget. The dates were also a treat as I've never had dates in rice. I ate every last bite of my plate. The best part is you don't feel overly full and tired after eating it as it's lean and not greasy at all. Their menu online says this: "The Persian cuisine is particularly rich in different herbs and spices, but deliberately avoids the dominance of any individual ingredient, so that each one remains uniquely perceptible." And I could not agree more. There's not one dominant flavor. Everything works together to make your mouth have an unforgettable experience. Since I wasn't feeling sluggish after my meal I went for dessert as well and boy am I glad I did. I have had saffron ice cream before as I am Indian and that's a staple ice cream in India. However, I had no idea Persian ice cream is a bit different and overall has a very side texture and density. This ice cream was a real treat. From the slivers of pistachio to the tiny rose petals and the mint garnish, every bit was amazing and I didn't want it to end. I am going to be back even just to get this ice cream again. I need more of this ice cream in my life so am looking up places near me where I can buy it but this versions Darwisch is a must try. The owners of this restaurant are also so friendly and they understand English which was a plus for me. I highly recommend this place to anyone in Heidelberg.

A Truly Unforgettable Experience at Darwich Restaurant!…read more My family and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Darwich Restaurant while visiting Heidelberg from Texas, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire Europe trip. We were celebrating my brother's birthday on the last leg of our journey, and choosing Darwich could not have been more perfect. From the moment we stepped inside, we were warmly welcomed with the kind of genuine Persian hospitality that immediately makes you feel like family. The owners are truly wonderful people--gracious, attentive, and full of warmth. Their personal touch and kindness transformed our dinner into a memorable celebration. The food was phenomenal. We were a party of five, and every single dish that came to our table was prepared with incredible care and flavor. Each plate was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. You could taste the quality in every bite. If there's one dessert you must try, it's their faloudeh--refreshing, unique, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The ambiance is just as impressive as the food. The restaurant's decor is elegant yet inviting, with beautiful Cyrus the Great patterns on the chairs that add a special cultural touch. The design blends tradition and charm, creating an atmosphere that feels both authentic and welcoming. We left with full hearts and full stomachs, feeling like we had experienced a little piece of Iran in the heart of Germany. Darwich is more than just a restaurant--it's a place where food, culture, and hospitality come together to create something unforgettable. To the wonderful owners: thank you for giving us such a special evening. Until our next visit--khodā hāfez!
