It's that time of month again. Time for me to get the works with Toniy at Darryl's Hair Studio and Spa. I love getting pampered monthly. I don't do any real pampering on my self during the year. I'm not into Mani and Pedis. Some of my girlfriends go monthly to get their nails done and they look terrific. I wish I had nails like them, but just aren't committed to that. I'm so afraid of getting a nail fungus so I pass. I have gotten my nails done and few times, but that time has passed for me. For me it's now all about getting my hair done. For the past 12 years or so I've been coming to Toniy. She does a fabulous job. My hair continues to stay healthy which I love. I've heard horror stories about people getting there hair fried and that's never been the case for me. It's been a success every time. It wasn't till 12 years ago that I started coloring my hair. I always wanted to be blond so I had my hair done blonde. That lasted for a while and I loved it. Now I've gone back to being more natural. My hair now is back to brown. A lot lighter then my normal hair color, but no one really knows that as they have only know me with my hair as is since it's been 12 years. People forget how things used to be, unless they look at old pictures of me. I love getting fussed over and having my hair washed, conditioned, and styled after the color treatment. She does such an amazing time styling my hair. I love the beachy waves she does. I wish is world last longer then it does. I've tried to do beachy waves on myself and I can't get it like she does. I keep it in as long as I can. If I don't roll around in bed and sleep on my back it will last a couple of days. I try my best to get my hairs done right before my vacations so I can look good in pictures. I tried to get an appointment right before our next trip, but she's going to be out of town. So sad. I'll just have to do my best to look presentable. I do have an appointment soon as I get back. Thank you Toniy for doing my hairs perfectly. It took me nearly 3 years to build enough self love to find someone to cut my hair. At my therapist request, I was to find the money and find the right stylist to cut my hair. I haven't always had the best of luck finding hair professionals to do a decent job on my hair, I was a bit concerned with this part of the task. So, I did what most local residents do, I went on NextDoor, searched some key words, and Darryl's name came up a few times. After some research and online stalking (just kidding) I booked an appointment easily and within a great time frame. Darryl made me feel very comfortable and at ease the moment I met him. His experience, knowledge and love for what he does makes all the difference. I walked out of his salon with a whole lot more confidence. He did more for me in that hour, than I've done for myself in a year. Thank you for what you did, Darryl. The salon vibe was on point, The music is absolutely incredible and made me feel nostalgic. The scalp massage at the washing station was top notch (I may have to book a monthly scalp massage appointment ) and all the little things that make a salon operate more efficiently are appreciated by the patron. The entire salon and staff bring a comfort you can't really find at most salons. I appreciate the atmosphere greatly. It's rare that I make return appointments with salon professionals, but in this case, that won't be an issue, I'll be back Darryl. read more

Quality work indeed. Had an appointment at 5pm for a silk press and I was out the chair by 6:15. He even washed it ! The atmosphere of the whole place is soft. The music isn't vulgar and the place is clean. read more

If you're not going to Daryl to get your hair done, what are you doing with your life? I discovered this lovely salon last year and will yo nowhere else. I should probably pay him a therapist's rate because he listens to me whine while he colors and cut my hair perfectly. I have developed so much gray since the pandemic started and I have always felt such a lift in hair and spirit after visiting him. He has a wonderful assistant that gives a killer wash (I legit fell asleep as she massaged my scalp). Staff is diverse and I feel comfortable there. A wonderful salon overall. I bought a Groupon here after reading so many positive reviews and see exactly why he has such a stellar reputation. We spent about 3 hours doing a full highlight, cut and style and he gave me so many tips on how to mitigate split ends, keep the beautiful color of the highlight and even gave a small sample of product to use to keep my hair healthy and strong! He's got 22 years of experience and was a great cosmetologist to talk to. The playlist he had in the shop was pretty dope too, and I would highly recommend everyone check this place out. Note that there may be a charge for toner (I got caramel highlights) and/or for working with long hair (I walked away with 6-8 inches cut off). Definitely worth it! read more

Great place to go for hair, massage and facial needs. I purchased a groupon and needed my highlights redone and hair cut. I was able to schedule an appointment easily, even with a groupon. When I came in I was greeted right away and offered something to drink. I discussed with Darryl my new color and he was able to explain to me the process and go through the colors with me. He took his time and his staff were very attentive. I felt relaxed that my hair was in good hands. I appreciate the new cut and color. I received several compliments and I will be back. His salon offers many services including massages, manicures, pedicures, microderm treatments and more. His staff is friendly and I recommend this location as a one stop shop. My review is a couple months overdue, as is my hair touch up, but I have to share my phenomenal experience with Darryl. I went into his studio for some highlights and a trim; told him what I wanted and he got right to work. He was quick, friendly, and extremely proficient at what he does. I sat under the heat lamp/dryer for no more than 20-25 mins and then he took me over to wash it out. He knew what volume to use just by looking at my hair, so toner wasn't even necessary to get perfect platinum, non-brassy, blonde. I don't think I've ever had anyone do highlights and not have to use toner - I was very impressed. After my hair was washed and conditioned he trimmed my hair. I stressed to him I only wanted the minimal amount trimmed to remove the dead. The last place I went hacked off 8", when I was told/ expecting 3". Darryl respected my request and did a very minimal trim without taking off any major length. He then blow dried and styled my hair, and I left feeling like a new woman! Since then I also referred a friend who was looking for someone new and affordable because her previous stylist was pricy and she wasn't very satisfied with her work. She went to Darryl a few weeks ago for highlights as well, and she too was extremely satisfied with his work and his prices. I called for a haircut/highlight and Darryl had to cancel for a family matter. Like the pro he is, he had another stylist take care of me that day! I was thinking I would be rushed through, end of day and I was wrong. Serina took a really bad haircut I got somewhere else, and a couple of home dye jobs and worked a miracle. She took her time, listened to what I thought I wanted, and the result was fantastic. She revived a disaster haircut and highlighted my hair back to it's former glory all in a first appointment! Serina was friendly, thorough, and a great conversationalist. She let me know every step of the way what she was doing. Serina is the real deal. I wasnt going to write a review but my husband said I should since I came home crying about my hair. I came wanting a balyage. My friends at work had gotten it and I finally decided to do something with my hair. I came with pics and a description of what I wanted... not too much blonde around my face, i told her where to start the blonde. The cut i wanted etc. I did not get an end result remotely close to what I expected. I basically got all my hair dyed blonde. I rarely get my hair colored because I like my natural look but do like to spruce it up ever so often and I do my best to bring photos to help get a good consensus on the direction. I tried to explain before I left that what I got was not what I had shown or asked for. What am I supposed to do now? It is blotchy where the color starts and even if the color was brought down more to where a balyage should start it doesn't transition well at all. I was told to let it grow out some and then they can fix it... I was given a 35 dollar discount and I still tipped. My husband was furious and told me I shouldn't of had to pay that with what I got out of the entire experience. I drove all the way home in tears and will be calling salons tomorrow I. Hope's to get an er appt to fix my hair so I can not be embarrassed of my color. She was nice but i do not think she k new how to do what I asked for. So I am not much of a yelper. But the level of service I received at Darryl's Hair Studio & Spa can not be ignored. I found this salon on Groupon. Yes, I like to try different places in my quest to find that one hair stylist. I called Darryl about 2 weeks ago and he was able to get me an appt right away. I arrived and was greeted by Darryl and he introduced me to Christina. She was very pleasant and patient with me as we went over the different hair color options. She obviously knew her stuff. She helped me pick a color. I was a little nervous... very nervous how it would turn out. I have naturally black hair but I have been going with a dark brown shade forever. Christina went with black color and added some gold tones in it. While I was waiting for the color to set in my hair, Christina offered to bring me refreshments. Then it was time to wash off the dye. The salon carries good quality products. Sorry I can't remember the brand since I am a Sebastian junkie. After that Christina partially blow dried my hair. Then she pulled out the scissors. Okay initially I wanted a trim only but then Christina and I discussed that layers would probably be the way to go. Once Christina was done cutting my hair in layers, she blow dried and styled my hair. I was very happy with the outcome. Darryl thanked me and then I left. While driving home, I didn't know how others would react to my dark hair.... I have received several positive compliments and wows. My hair has not looked this amazing in a while.
