A great venue to go to see a stand up comedian; more intimate and much more civilised say than Middlesbrough Town Hall. The staff are friendly and attentive and the recently renovated bar is nice, if a little cold and functional, but there's never too long a wait to be served and the drinks choice and prices are good for a theatre. Apparently, with the current local government cuts, the theatre is now under threat of closure. Please pledge your support by signing the petition on your next visit. read more

A great place to go to see a band or stand up act. The cinema is great showing some good stuff I wouldn't normally get chance to see. The updated bar is quite nice but I wish it wasn't quite as contemporary as it is. It can feel a little cold and unwelcoming (if not for this I'd certainly use it as my local) but aside from that it's a great place. read more

Darlington Arts Centre is a really great place for art lovers or people having a social gathering. It is situated next to the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College so often accommodates a lot of young people. It is also by the park so is a great place to visit in the summer. Allsorts of things go on such as small plays, exhibitions and social events. It also has a room available to rent for functions and a couple of nice bars. read more

Darlington Arts Centre has just been refurbished and the new cafe is very trendy chic. With it's orange retro chairs and other funky furnishings it's new look is fab. I've tried the food out twice and both times my meals were really tasty. I've had the club sandwich and the tuna melt baguette and would recommend both. The staff are also very nice and friendly, especially the blonde haired lady. Altogether my experiences have been good with very little to complain about, it's an excellent lunch time treat. read more

Some of the interior of the Darlington Art Centre has recently been updated and brought into the 21st century. The theatre always have an eclectic mix of happenings from theatre plays to movies being screened to workshops and classes. This is a great community hub where all sorts goes on and friends can be made. I joined a youth theatre at Darlington Arts Centre and remember having so much fun! The building is also beautiful and charming. read more

The arts centre is a strange place to go; it is such a mix of different arts that it is hard to define it with a single word. A marvelous facade greets you with the water feature nodding away, even the windows seem to belong to another era, but once inside you come straight back to the present thanks to the coffee bar on the right and the pub on the left. Live bands rock away into the night one day followed by folk music the next. You can learn Salsa or jive in one of the smaller bars. A room for artists to show their work is almost hidden from view and then there's the cinema to see films both modern and the type only devoted film fanatics would want to see! If you want to try your hand there are numerous workshops, photography, dance, modeling clay and if you are really keen you can help make the floats for the yearly carnival. All in all its a special place that is much under rated. read more

A really nice place. It used to be the Darlington Teacher Training College and is next door to the Sixth Form College. Lovely old building with lots of rooms of varying sizes for different events. There is always something on from FE courses, music, films, plays, performances, beer festival, community carnival, kids classes in dance, drama etc. The cafe serves drinks, snacks and very good hot chocolate at a resonable price. The Garden Bar is still the best venue at the Art centre because you can still have a drink and watch the music - you have to leave your drinks behind for the main theatre. If you intend to go to a beer festivals check the requirements beforehand because sometimes no tickets are available on the door - and sometimes they have run out of beer by Saturday night! read more

In addition to everything complimentary said above, one aspect I have found useful about the Arts Centre is their cinema facilities. If you miss something first time round they come round quite quickly here. Is cheap and comfy and you can generally get parked in street's around. read more

Darlington Arts Centre is situated just alongside Stanhope Park. The venue displays art in a small gallery, puts on a variety of shows and events throughout the year, including films and a summer festival. The venue is open during both the daytime and evening, and during the day serves a variety of food and drinks. On an evening the venue is popular with wine fans who enjoy a chilled out atmosphere. read more

The Darlington Arts Centre has just been given a modern, fashionable and much needed refurbishment, making it now look great inside whilst keeping the beautiful old building on the outside in tact! The Arts Centre is at the heart of many community events, including Darlington Community Carnival, and offers a variety of activities for many people. There is a small cinema, theatre and cafe which means it is a great cultured place to visit. It also holds a number of Arts, dance and creative classes and workshops. Always worth seeing what is going on at the Arts Centre as there is normally something to suit everyone, you can now grab a coffee and scone in a relaxing environment whist scimming through a programme of events! read more
