For a lazy weekend, my family decided to head on over to neighboring Rizal for a quick trip to the local waterfalls in the area. Over ten meters tall, our first stop Daranak Falls was a picturesque sight to behold. We went on a weekend, however, and one in the middle of summer at that, so we were but one in hundreds of people flocking to the falls for a refreshing afternoon of swimming.
The water was cold, surprisingly clear considering the volume of people visiting, and invigorating, even in summer when it thinned because of the heat. You can opt to either rent a cottage at P300 or just a picnic table for P100, in addition to the P50 entrance fee used to maintain facilities and function as an environmental fee. Either buy some food on the way there or cook some at home, and keep in mind that they're keen on preserving these falls, so plastic cutlery are not allowed. read more
