I was being a tourist in my hometown and lazily wandering around Eastern Beach and around the Promenade taking photos when I started to crave a coffee. It was just before the lunch rush so there weren't too many people around. The weather was perfect so I sat outside under an umbrella. I ordered a latte and a jelly slice. The order arrived quickly and it was a perfect way to stop and take a break. The coffee in Australia is my favorite and the jelly slice was cool and tart. I loved looking out to the water and thinking back on all the memories I've had here - being a little girl swimming in the childrens pool, playing on the swings, rolling down the hills, to later being a teenager jumping off the tower and hanging out with friends in the water waiting for a cool change to blow through with the rest of the town, to now being an adult and only being able to visit every few years. The Beach House is wrapped up in all of those memories too.

This place is new, my local friends tells me the hidden gem has only been open for about six weeks and unless you're a local you would easily miss it.. We decided Monday was a good day to take the French bulldogs for a walk and stop off for a wine and lunch.. There is a large courtyard at the front of the dining hall, with ample seating and space, the dogs sat under our table with their very own bowl of water.. Perfect venue if you have dogs!! The whole facade is what looks to be an original building, exposed brick, polished concrete, high ceilings and just one big open space.. The staff were very friendly (personally I think this is a given in a rural area, people just have that happy, friendly country personality), menu was extensive but not over expanded and a great wine list.. Having more than one Rosé on a wine list always excited me.. Food to die for, light but filling meals, presentation is one of the best I've seen and it didn't cost me a weeks wage to get it!!
