I want to start by acknowledging the important work DAP does for the community. As a new resident and a gay man, I was eager to find a connection there. However, I've left feeling consistently overlooked and undervalued as a Latino man. While the staff at the front desk are clearly capable of being warm and engaging (I've witnessed it), that same energy is not directed toward me. The interactions feel transactional and lack the genuine courtesy I see extended to others. This creates a sense of isolation, which is the opposite of what a community center should provide. For DAP to truly live up to its mission, I strongly encourage leadership to invest in diversity and inclusion training for all staff and volunteers. Understanding the nuances of cultural respect would go a long way in making the Latino community feel genuinely welcome. I hope this feedback is received as it is intended--as an opportunity for growth and a step toward building a more united and inclusive community for everyone. read more

This was my recent experience at DAP Health/Palm Springs. The RN I spoke with the day before submitted a request to the pharmacy to refill an existing medication prescribed by my physician. After picking up the medication I realized the milligrams the physician historically prescribed had been changed to a much smaller dose. This change in dosage was admittedly changed by the RN. When I asked this specific RN why he had changed the milligrams of the prescribed medication, he stated "it was his personal choice to change the milligrams of the medication." You can understand my reaction to his "personal" choice to change the dosage. I am horrified this facility allows a non-physician to alter medication due to a personal choice. Please Google "can a registered nurse change the milligrams of medication." Again, this particular RN stated his reason to change the dosage is a personal choice, not a licensed professional choice, not even legal choice. I have reached out to management at DAP Health and I will be filing a complaint with the state of California Board of Health. read more

If you want to Wait literally two months and above for an appointment, and be treated terribly by cold, heartless staff who don't listen. This is the place for you. My advice for anybody out there who is desperate because of the shortcomings of this horrendous institution is go to Mexico. I have been suffering terribly with something for two years. Every Dr at DAP health were useless. Uncaring, cancelling appointments, chaos, and just plain stupid. I went to Mexico to see a doctor. I paid $100 and my condition was cleared up in days. We've been volunteering sporadically for a few years with DAP. We have been extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and organization, not only in the Volunteer area, but even more so with the leadership and many within the management level. We have done a lot of volunteer work for the Development department , most especially before and during the Chase event. Without a doubt, the most impressive and accomplished area with which we have worked was the events team. Long story short, the leader was terminated a few years ago due to COVID. A couple of years went by, DAP reached back out and asked them come back and contract to produce the 2024 Chase event. They did so, beautifully, the event raised 2+ million dollars. They then offered them the full time position to produce all their major events. They accepted after many discussions with leaders and moved back across country. In March, their second Chase event was held and again raised over 2 million dollars. That was on March 29. The next event was the Health Equity Walk (formerly known as the AIDS walk;) the event had been losing steam for the last several years, the decision was made to "sunset" the event. The next event was Dining Out for Life, which was a success and grew over last year's, with superior leadership . Yesterday, Friday afternoon, the CEO of DAP terminated the event team. After successfully producing two unbelievable events where millions of dollars were raised, the team was fired. Words can't fully express my feelings about this, but here are a few that come to mind: UNFAIR, RIDICULOUS, SHORT SIGHTED, UNDERHANDED, HYPOCRISY AT ITS WORST, and on and on... Before you consider where you spend your hard earned dollars in donating to a nonprofit organization, PLEASE consider the way that organization does its business- do they practice what they preach? DAP Health treats all of their employees as expendable. They use them to get what they want and then let them go when they are done getting what they need. Recently they terminated the entire events team after one of the most successful "The Chase " event. Over the last 2 years this team raised over 4 million dollars and yet let them go and will use outside resources for a produce all their events going forward. Major donors will see a decline in the events and will consider looking g elsewhere when making a philanthropic decisions. read more

i like the doctor that I had at DAP however there are lots of problems with this organization.... The regular staff is rude, security is confrontational with patients and clients too. In my honest opinion, this org is very poorly managed and due to the high influx of grants, many of the employees are paid to just "look busy". I was a volunteer at the DAP thrift shop called Revivals for 4 years and donated more than 2,000 hours of my time. I finally got up enough nerve to complain to DAP and Revivals management how badly they treat their volunteers. I was fired at the first opportunity using a bogus excuse in retaliation for complaining. And now, I'm blocked from accessing the DAP website!! They recently moved to the building next door and it looks great! Most importantly the girls at the front are incredibly nice, friendly, and well versed on the services the DAP provides. Very nicely done remodel, everything looks fresh and gives off a very nice ambiance. They take pride in the sanitary condition that the place is in. Very grateful for the free services they provide here. Huge compliment to Moira (front desk) and JP (nurse) - both incredibly nice and professional. Forgetting it was late on a Friday afternoon, I went to DAP to some information. Those unfamiliar with the layout (such as myself), .will appreciate these tips: Large Parking Lots are located in the rear-the access is off of Sunrise Way. The main entrance is from the parking lot and is indeed marked. What appears to be the main entrance, visible from the corner of sunrise and Vista Chino under the large DAP sign and next to the Walgreens, seems to be permanently closed. I made mistake of walking to that entrance where a sign is posted (inside, not visible from the street) directing you to the 'west' entrance. 'North, south, east, west' directions are not very helpful to me. I ended up walking around the entire building before I saw the ( small) entrance sign off the parking lot. Perhaps this is a temporary situation: as stated, this is my first time to the DAP office. Damien was at the front desk and he was more than helpful, sympathetic and listened to my needs. As this was Friday, the offices had cleared out, but Damian advised when to come back provided directions, and also left a message for the person that I needed to see giving them a heads up that I would be coming in on Monday. The dap dental for adults in cathedral city has such an amazing staff! They are very welcoming and polite thank you Anita Garcia and Ely Felix for being so cordial and professional. The dentist Monica Lenhof is just the sweetest dentist I've ever meet in my life she is just so caring and genuine almost like very motherly let alone she actually tries to get to know her patients! I highly recommend this dental office to anyone who lives in the area. I've had very bad experiences with other dental offices and their staff members where they just seem so miserable and are very rude. This dental office staff go above and beyond to meet you needs! Not only that they are on top of appointment reminders as well. Trust me if you have had any bad experiences in the past with dental offices. I have been a client at Desert AIDS Project for 30 years. They have helped me and a lot of my neighbors for years. I am SO grateful to this organization for their help & support ! DAP Health accepts HIV- clients RECENTLY and as a result the HIV+ clients suffer if not get totally ignored. I continue to support this Agency and hope they remember "Who Brought Them To The Dance." DAP is not a great health system. I have only been a member since the beginning of the year and they are not up on their game. I have private insurance, a PPO, and pay $1000/month out of pocket. And I pay between $50-$90 each visit. I have health issues and have been 5 or 6 times this year. I can't get anyone to respond to messages on the mychart system. I guess if you don't have any other option, maybe waiting for these things are fine. But I think I will be looking for another option. I am not looking for anything special, but for all the money I have given them, it seems they should be better. read more

DAP Health in Palm Springs is such a great resource, especially for the lgbt+ community but open to everyone for their sexual and reproductive health needs. Making an appointment at the orange clinic is super easy and through the app you can check test results and keep track of visits! Everyone is so friendly and helpful and you can tell they really care. I go here every few months and appreciate that every few months I can go to a safe space to seek care outside of my normal health care provider. read more

I was heavily abused by the behavioral health department. My private information was shared with people outside my care and they violated my patient bill of rights, by ganging up on me when I was in extreme distress. Avoid their mental health department, it's literally the opposite of mental health care it's actually disrespectful and disruptive to healing, it's pure ableist bigotry and abuse and they will use your disabilities to gaslight you make you feel crazy. There's one nurse Lizzy Gallegos who got the entire department to sabotage my care, and I never expected a mental health department to traumatize me in such a violent way. The Purple behavioral health clinic destroyed my spirit and trust in mental health practitioners I will now have to seek real psychiatric care elsewhere. Do not use this department I'm aghast, if you do not want your disability to be thrown in your face please avoid the purple clinic. These people crushed me emotionally and the whole lot of them need to be audited and fired for exposing my personal information to people outside my care it's highly illegal according to state and national law. I thought this was an actual compassionate care center it was founded around care for people with terminal illnesses like me, and all I received was ableism, gaslighting and abuse. If the original trauma from nurse Gallegos never happened I wouldn't be having severe panic attacks and ptsd they caused me irreparable harm this is a dangerous clinic for people with actual mental health issues, and it's pure bigotry against disabled people like me we suffer from our disability and they gang up surround one another to protect themselves from accountability, you know why because Nurse Gallegos was seeking revenge because I caught her in multiple lies, and because I was holding her accountable for extreme misuse of my medical history used to abuse me! She really did make me consider taking my own life. I'm not suicidal but that level of abuse is damaging to clients and patients the whole department needs to be audited and "Lizzy" needs to not work with human beings ever again. read more

It's so easy to be able to schedule an appointment or to request medications, and you can even send a message to your doctor through the app. I've always had excellent care with Scott the NP. He always takes the time to listen to me and always tries to find the best solution for my situation. DAP has been expanding and constructing for the past four five months with a new building annex south of the blue clinic. Where are they getting all this money? The Government? I don't get it, they can afford expanding but fail to plan having Handicap parking spaces near the entrance? They fail to hire qualified primary Doctors instead they hire new doctors fresh out of medical school. I am old and I have been through four Doctors in the past five years at this blue clinic. Every time I periodically see the Primary Doctor either they're short of nurses or have some some student nurse who doesn't know how to wrap a wound or take my blood pressure. I'm a survivor of the HIV disease for over 30 years and I know when a doctor is good and well versed in HIV. I finally realized the new DAP D.O. doctor isn't versed as I thought she would be. She was still in high school when I was first HIV. She hasn't a clue what Lipodystrophy is and what the early medications have done to my body causing a body disfigurement. Her authoritative attitude turned me off. The D.O. physician stopped some of my medications and switched my meds without me having a say about my own health. So why am I still with DAP? I was with Eisenhower at Rimrock and had a wonderful doctor, however he retired. That's the problem in the desert here! Trying to find a male doctor in their mid 50's is hard to find in Palm Springs. Most are not taking on new patients. DAP Health hire young doctors who stay for a year or two then they're gone moving to Los Angeles working at Cedars Sanai, etc. If you are a guy, good luck finding a male Primary Caucasian physician who speaks english, who has is well versed in symptoms of HIV and how it affects the male body and listens to you and not having their head stuck in the computer screen, oblivious to what you are saying, interrupting you, when your trying to explain how your are feeling and not what they think is best for you without listening to you. The absolute worst medical facility on EARTH...and I've been to the doctor in Haiti. I am not going to share my experience. You can read all of the other awful posts to know what I've been through...these people are EVIL and should not be practicing medicine in any way shape or form. When I submitted a grievance...this is what happened. They received it. They asked the doctor I was complaining about if he had done any of the things I had said he had done. He said "No." They sent me a letter saying "The doctor said he didn't do any of these things. The investigation is complete. Thank you and let us know if we can be of further assistance." That ended the "INVESTIGATION". What a joke. They are going to end up hurting or killing someone. read more

Avoid. I'm HIV positive and was a client with a primary care physician there UNTIL now. In January, I called to ask about a COVID test because I had been exposed. I was then JUDGED for how I was exposed. He SNICKERED and then asked " ... why?" I was like OH F NO! lol And then he AND his supervisor took me to task. A third woman called me back and DRESSED ME DOWN for not licking their boots and then said "But. We had a cancelation. You can come in at 3." I ended up canceling the appt because -- why would I go into that den of snakes who literally tried to make me feel bad for trying to get a COVID test and not accepting judgmental interactions from AN AIDS ORG. Do they ask people exactly why they need an HIV test? Then I reached out to my friend who works in fundraising there who quickly clammed up and towed the company line. "Doctor" Chris Foltz needs bedside manner training. Staring at a computer and typing and saying almost nothing is ... not what I expect out of American healthcare. I've never gotten so many calls from them about scheduling appointments it's obvious it's about the money. my referral to the podiatrist total mess, good luck getting help. I reached out to Krystal for help she's always been my go to well she no longer does referrals. CEO if the quality of care and the level of customer service wasn't broken why not expand that to all the new locations. Instead it seems like they are running your reputation into the ground. Worst medical establishment i have ever dealt with. Been a patient here for over a decade as it is the only game in town. They literally (without hyperbole) came close to killing me twice. Without going into all the gory details, I was able to find out in five minutes of googling basic medical information that staff was completely ignorant of. The level of incompetence coupled with their unjustified arrogance and rudeness is astounding - to the point where I'm lead to believe the millions of dollars donated to DAP's star-studded fundraising events are being syphoned into someone's pockets. One was "busy" making a nail appointment so she had me wait before seeing me until she was done. Yes, imagine that! G@d forbid you arrive past the cut off but then again isn't the cut off 15mins that they have us agree to and sign when we start being seen by a Dr? Because I arrived 6mins late and was told I had to wait because she had to make sure the Dr would be able to see me since I arrived "late" don't get me started with the Referral dept. Veronica couldn't care less about your referrals. All in all, this clinic is run by individuals who value their own personal interests more than what they are getting paid for. And watch out on MyChart for billing because I caught them billing my insurance for an appointment I didn't attend. All in all, this place is one big joke and it's a shame because they are generously funded oh yes, the top executives are making insanely amounts of income, as are the Dr,s and the front girls arent being left behind either. They get 20+ an hr for sitting in AC all day on their phones looking at TikTok's and making nail and brow/lashes appointments. Yet the proper health care value it should be providing is no where to be found at DAP clinic in the Coachella valley. Good luck because you will need it! read more

DAP Dental does basic stuff, teeth cleaning, minor cavity filling. Temporary partial dentures not the best, they need more training. First fittings were repeated twice, still unsuccessful, said they would return it, two weeks later still didn't fit, tiny molars were not long enough to touch bottom partials to chew food properly . Every dentist nowadays in the desert are all pushing implants, (BTW, DAP doesn't do implants). I can't afford implants and besides I am a poor candidate for implants due to a previous dentist that removed a molar with a piece of my jaw bone many years ago. I REALLY NEED A PERMANENT PARTIAL METAL OR permanent FLEXIBLE DENTURES as soon as possible. read more

When this organization first originated I would assume 30+ years ago it probably was a godsend. But over the last decade or longer it is just been a for profit organization. Funding is through Ryan White, Riverside County Health and Human Services and other grants. they used to provide their clients up until May 2019 a $50 month gift card to Stater brothers that has been eliminated due to the state of California now giving food stamps to those that don't make enough money. They have eliminated their discount program for the DAP client's at revivals although if your a veteran or a senior you still getting a discount. And on top of that as a DAP client when I would go to revivals and tell them I was a client I had to present to them HIV status in order to get a discount, if you're a veteran or a senior you do not to provide any documentation. When I first moved to the Coachella Valley six years ago I became a client of DAP they screwed up everything they could screw up. I had NOT transfer my medical services there due to medical issues I was going through at the time because of how DAP case management Handled/ mis handled previously. I was definitely not putting my health into their hands with my medial and to this day still have not. read more

I was referred to this organization from members of a Facebook Group. Had I looked at the reviews on Yelp first, I probably would've missed the DAP since the reviews on here are mixed. I decided to give them a call and they scheduled an appointment within 2 days, granted that I bring all the necessary paperwork they needed. Phew. I didn't have to wait for 6 weeks to see a doctor like Kaiser Permanente. The staff here are truly amazing. I felt embarrassed at first since I was uninsured and needed financial assistance with a prescription refill but I didn't feel judged in any way. I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Nikki Martinez, as well as Trent and David in the Sexual Health Clinic department for being compassionate members and making me feel at ease.
