I stayed at before the all inclusive Garza Blanca and I would definitely plan to come here - I could say this is the best restaurant at the resort! Make sure to reserve around sunset! Also, I review this as an Chinese person who has eaten at many different, Asian restaurants in San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles, etc. Ambience 5/5 Absolutely stunning - ESPECIALLY at sunset. This restaurant is located on the roof top, next to the infinity pool. Also, the design of the restaurant is comfortable, contemporary, and modern such a great experience! They play Lofi music which fits the vibe perfectly. Food 4.9/5 Everything was surprisingly a lot better than I was anticipating, being in Mexico. Some food BETTER than what I've had in the heart of SF China Town! I believe they do use MSG which makes everything delicious :) but made things a bit on the saltier side. Chefs Hor fun Noodles - GET THIS with beef. There is something called "Wok Hei" which is essentially the charred Smokey flavor/HEAT from cooking in a Wok. And it was the most amazing Wok Hei I've ever tasted! Green beans with XO sauce - very flavorful and tasty! XO sauce is expensive, and I think they gave more XO sauce than green beans! BBQ Char Sui (pork) Buns - Delicious, fluffy exterior, flavorful interior. Would recommend as a Chinese dim sum staple Xiao Long Bao - soup dumplings, he's actually tasted more like dumplings, then soup dumplings (not enough soup. Nice flavor though! Hot & Sour Soup - better than a lot of Chinese restaurants we have had this soup at. A really great appetizer Banana and lychee spring rolls - this is quite yummy! Dip the eggrolls in sweeten condensed milk. Also served with a VERY coconuty icecream. Dao Cheesecake - one of the desserts that has a fire show associated! :) (or so I saw at the table next door - I didn't personally taste this this time) Service 5/5 Our main server was Emanuelle - he along with the rest of the staff were amazing. You can tell that the whole team is very tightknit. They sing happy birthday to the guests all together (one person with the cake, the fire show, the Instagram square, and everyone singing), they are willing to help each other out, even if it's not their main job, and the Chef, Atlas Ho, even stopped by to check in with us As some background, Atlas mentioned that he specializes in Chinese Malaysian cooking. He has had experience in Malaysia, Bali and has helped with the set up of the PV location restaurant. He has truly brought the values of Chinese cuisine to Cancun. Down to the cookware, tea-ware, and essence within the food! It truly feels like a full production, whether it is cutting the peking duck right at the table, doing a birthday cake fire show, or making mixed drinks at table side! 100% would recommend and I will be back!

Dao is located at the rooftop of Garza Blanca resort. It is a stunning restaurant with excellent service. Reservations are required as they are often busy. You have to be a guest at the resort (here or Villa del Palmar next door) from what I understand. Our server was Cliff and he was kind and very attentive. There were enough vegetarian friendly options for us to have a meal. We tried veggie dumplings, vegetable fried rice and Ho fun noodles. The noodles were my favorite! They gave us a cheesecake to wish us a safe trip home as this was our last night of our trip which I thought was really sweet. The cheesecake was delicious without being too sweet. I recommend going around sunset to catch the breathtaking views from your table.

DAO is the flagship Asian restaurant of Garza Blanca in Cancún. The food, prepared by Chef Ho (Atlas), represents masterpieces of Chinese cuisine. The dishes are delicious and beautifully done with delicate details. The menu has a wide selection of appetizers, ranging from artfully prepared dumplings, delicately fried shrimp, to spicy calamari, one of our favorites. The main dishes cover a variety of meats, fish and seafood. We have eaten here several times and love especially the Mongolian beef, the sea bass, and the Kung Pao style dish with a mixture of different proteins. Our absolute favorite dish is the Peking duck. For those on an all inclusive meal plan, this dish is not included, but it is absolutely worth to try it on a special occasion. Having eaten Peking duck in some of the best specialty restaurants in Beijing I found it of similar quality. Also the dessert selection is great and original. The ambiance at DAO is great, with its beautiful Asian decorations and the white Buddha as a centerpiece. The staff, headed by the wonderful and gracious manager Adriana Rosales, is very friendly and knowledgeable, as should be the case for a high end restaurant. Overall, a stay at Garza Blanca is not complete without a dining experience at DAO.

Enjoyed dining here with my family while we were on vacation. I probably would have given five stars but I had been eating all day and as a result was not that hungry. However the atmosphere was beautiful and the employees were very nice and welcoming. They even made special noodles or for my son who is a very picky eater. During our reservation we definitely took advantage of the beautiful ambience and took several pictures. Our hostess for the night did a great job and suggesting meals with wines. The lettuce wraps were amazing.

She was walking us a little towards the back, but since it was my first time to Isla, I wanted to people-watch, so I asked about a table up front. As soon as we headed over, I saw why she passed it - it was right next to the saxophone player! Thank goodness his volume level was perfect! Just loud enough to be heard over the crowds walking down the 'lane' out front and the restaurant diners' chatting. But not so loud that we 3 couldn't chat. We loved it! Now these two can EAT - and love to try everything on the menu, whereas I tend to eat smaller portions. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were fantastic - huge pieces of shrimp, so good! The lobster mac n cheese is so good, I would have loved to bring a big container of it home with me! The restaurant is very busy but very clean and tables are well organized for maneuvering a quick trip to the restroom before leaving. Our server, Maylen was attentive and pleasant. The bar area, facing the street, looked like a lot of fun, I'll have to try it next time!
