First off, this is the first Korean restaurant I've ever been to, along with the first Korean food I've ever eaten (aside from the spicy kimchi noodle bowl in grocery stores if that even counts). So take my review with a grain of salt, I'm just a newbie. My friend and I have been wanting to try authentic Korean food for ages but we live a good 50-60 miles away from the closest Korean restaurant, which just so happened to be DaSaRang or the other one(s?) within the same little area. We didn't have much time to stick around so we just got a kimchi pancake to go. I'm a picky eater. I was afraid I wouldn't like it at all. But after arriving in the restaurant and waiting for the food to be cooked (which didn't take very long), I felt a little reassured because the place smelled so good!! After my first bite, I wasn't sure I liked it because it tasted so different from anything I'd ever had. After another couple of bites, I was in love. Anyway, long story short, this was my first time eating authentic Korean food and everything about it (waiting time, waiter, atmosphere, the food itself) was great. Went for lunch and it was really good. It was kind of expensive, but the portions were very large. My mom ordered the pork bulgogi, which was delicious. My stir-fried octopus was really spicy, and I enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed the fried dumplings and tteokboki. I would definitely come here again. read more

Worst service, good food. I love the food in this restaurant, but because of the waitress, I have reduced the frequency of visiting the restaurant significantly. The waitress always have a shitty face, there is one time I asked her to refill the side dish, she told me to buy it from a store across the street, and today, while we are still eating, she bring over the check, and after I paid for it, she bring the change back, and stand right in front of me, saying:" now give me my tips." Can you believe that? She is so rude and have no idea what a good service is. I will not come again just because of her, every time when I saw her shitty face and attitude, it really makes my eating experience much less enjoyable! I love this place. It's really too bad that all the places that I love are in Greensboro. Otherwise, I would be here a lot more often. I believe the name of the restaurant is actually "Dasarang Korean Restaurant" now. It used to be called The Rice Cake. I hope that hasn't kept people from finding this little gem of a place. They serve very authentic Korean food and I couldn't praise this place enough. Their banchan (side dishes) are always fresh and something different. The kimchi is excellent. My husband and I always get their yukgaejang (spicy beef soup). It's so hearty and delicious. Their naengmyun (cold noodles) is also very good. Most of their dishes are under $10 so you can't beat the price. I like that it's a very casual diner-like place. It's so close to the Korean places that we used do frequent in Seoul, Korea. This food isn't bad, better than the other competitor nearby. They provide 4 side dishes; one of them is kimchee. If the kimchee is really sour (it has been twice I've been there) which means that it is 'old' and should be used for kimchee fried rice or kimchee stew instead. The price of bibimbap is on the expensive side compared to other Korean establishments that I've visited around the country and in Australia (where the cost of living is high). read more

This place was horrible; a complete nightmare. Horrible & rude service. The waiter did not address me & wasn't friendly at all once I arrived (the young niece of the owner). I mentioned that this was my first find there & she didn't suggest any food or assist me with choosing. She didn't even apologize once they served me raw chicken. Yes, raw chicken! She addressed the situation as if it "happens sometimes". To top that, she still made me pay for my chicken!!! Awful. Do not eat here!! It's overpriced & just not worth it. This place is very yummy. I had the lunch box special which included two types of kimchi, mandu and bulgogi. Everything tasted delicious. I will say the bulgogi had a little too much carrots and onions compared to the ratio of meat but that might be me being too picky. The staff was very friendly and even explained to me what this Korean tv show that was playing was about. My meal did not disappoint me but I do need to go back so that I can try some of there other dishes and try their banchan. read more

The food is amazing as well. My palate isn't too fond of Korean food, but I really like the Jap Chae and bugolgi. This was my first experience with Korean food and they made me feel at home and even took the time to patiently explain the menu to me. This was an interesting experience. Honestly, my experience here was more of a 3, but the food was a solid 4.5, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and going with 4 stars. The place was much smaller than I expected and they were having a leak in their ceiling. We came during a very slow time (we were literally the only people there) so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that's why our service was odd. Water was served in a small mug with no ice and we were only given 2 refills (one of which we had to ask for: small mug + spicy food = MANY needed refills). They got their water from a filter that was sitting across from our table so we ended up filling our own mugs a few times when the waitress wasn't around. At one point during our meal the family that runs the place (including our waitress) sat and ate a meal together, which is a little unprofessional, but it's honestly not a big deal to me as long as we are still being taken care of. We both got stone bowls (bibimbap), but I got chicken and my boyfriend got pork. The chicken one was honestly a little bland before I added some hot sauce (phenomenal after I added sauce though). My boyfriend's pork bowl came with a sauce already on it that was delicious and I wish it had been on mine too, but I'm guessing that sauce is something special with the way they prepare their pork. My stone bowl didn't seem to stay quite as hot as some I've had at other places, but it still did its job. Overall, the food was delicious and our waitress was very sweet, even of the service was a little odd. I definitely want to try this place again. read more

A complete and utter Fail! First the waitress is slow and some what uninterested in serving her customers. The large screen t.v. is Blaring Korean t.v. programs so loudly that I had a headache by the time we left. The prices are to high for the portions and quality. I had the Kimchi Jjigae the pork was so sparse I believe you could have put all of the meat on the spoon that comes with the meal, you might as well get you order vegetarian. I have made much better tasting Kimchi Jjigae at home. The lack of meat was theme throughout the menu. The bi bim bap was tasteless( it seems the only thing they used for flavoring was sesame oil). The portions appeared to be child size servings for 9 to 10 dollars,as a matter of fact we had to go to the restaurant in super G to get something else to eat to actually feel full. The dishes that come with a Korean meal were served but again the servings were small and when we asked for more they wanted to charge us for it! Are you frecking kidding me every other Korean restaurant just gives you more not these cheapskates! Save yourselves some money and do not eat here you would be better off going to super G getting the ingredients and make it at home. read more

Although the food is not bad, the service is horrible. I have been this place several times. Originally, the small appetizer dishes were free to refill, but last time I went there, the waitress told me that it's free to refill only for one time. In contrast, in Seoul garden, which is another Korean restaurant close to this place, the appetizer dishes are still free to refill. But that's still acceptable. The worst thing is that the waitress charges extra tips on my card every single time. I had a meal last time and paid $41 including $2 tips because I thought the service was terrible. No refilling water and No attention to customers. Later when I checked my credit card bill, I found out that the restaurant charged me $46.5 for that meal. The tip is 18%. First, I didn't think the service worth that much. Also, I feel so bad that they furtively charged extra tips against my willing. BAD, unethical restaurant. NEVER ever go there again!! read more
