This restaurant has really good korean food! Of all the korean restaurants that I have been to in my life this, this one has more of an authentic taste than being too americanized! Also, they have good selection of Korean-Chinese cuisine so i also recommend them too! Prices are very reasonable, and portions are generous too. The restaurant is very busy but at time are understaffed, so you may have to wait a little bit to order food, but the food comes out relatively fast. Also, you pay up front at the cashier desk, so don't bother waiting for the waitress to take your payment from your table. Somewhere in 2012, Dasarang changed owners. They upgraded the interior, installed wood paneled booths and changed the lighting. It looks more like a restaurant than before. It's definitely more comfortable. The menu is similar, and the prices are close, although they may have gone up a hair. The food is still very good, but I might give the nod to the previous chef - he/she was something special. However, the new owners/managers are really NICE people and still put out quite a few good dishes. I do wish they would provide as many of the small plate/side dishes as the previous owners, but that is a minor complaint. Yes I'll go back because it's the best korean in the area. A big disappointment. Decided to give it a try with a colleague for lunch this week. Arriving - restaurant is empty for lunch, not a good sign. I mean, we stayed for 1h alone in the restaurant (service is really slow). Nobody shows up, and the few people that came for "to go" left after checking the prices. Menu - we had to ask if there were specials for lunch as nothing was under $10. And indeed there were a lunch menu that the waiter didn't want to give us from the beginning. Giving us the lunch menu, the waiter explained that nobody ever take the lunch items as they are too small in portions, and that's why he usually never gives it. Great. What kind of restaurant propose a lunch menu that nobody want to get because it's not good ? What kind of restaurant tells their customers that what they are proposing is not good enough and you shouldn't take it ? What kind of restaurant knows their lunch items are not good and doesn't fix them ? You can start to bet why this place is empty for lunch. We asked the waiter about the sides that comes with it and he told us that menu items were better because more sides comes with it in more quantity. Fine, we took the menu items instead of the lunch one. Food came, and sides with it. Talking about sides, we though it was for one only. We were wrong, we had to share them. The rice portion is very small too, and by checking their menu, my understanding is that they charge you for additional rice. Food was good but serioulsy, after few bites the sides and rice were gone. I can't even imagine what you get if you try the lunch items... So 2 stars for the food because it tasted good. I am in search of my Korean food fix here in the Triad and this place might be it. Then again this is the first place I tried out since it was recommended. Definitely a good restaurant. Went here for dinner and had the korean pancake which was delicious especially with the soy sauce. Their galbi is ON POINT, amazing flavor and cooked well. I recommend it although the price is pretty steep on it. I also had the doenjang jjigae and it was alright, the only thing missing is a little more soy bean. I wish it was a little more dark. Other than that this place really hit the spot for a korean fix. I'll be back to try the other dishes. read more

I'm a pretty big fan of Korean cuisine. This place is authentic enough for North Carolina. They even have a Korean news channel on in the background. The food was definitely adequate. I got the BiBimBap with no beef. The flavor was excellent and the rice got super crispy at the bottom. The service is super slow. The waiter was nice though. Being a Korean and needing Korean food in my system at least once a week, we found this gem thank to Yelp! I was a bit worried- I mean, come on. We're in the middle of bumfu** nowhere, so expecting ANY quality Korean food was pretty comical. My coworker and I walked in and stood around for a few minutes before a young (very young) lady came to greet us. She wasn't Korean, so that was very interesting and my expectations lowered tremendously (thinking this wouldn't be an authentic place and the taste was 'americanized'). I was very turned off at first because when I was trying to order, I named the dishes in Korean, assuming that she would know wtf I'm talking about, as she works at a Korean restaurant..however...I had to give her my order several times and just ended up pointing at the menu for her to see which one I ordered... and then she tried to repeat my order back to me using the korean name for it, which I couldn't understand at all....so I had to point my food...again. haha I also ordered a bottle of soju and I asked if they had it, the girl then said "what is that"....LOL....the owners (koreans) came out and I had to yell across the room to ask them for a bottle of soju. lol... After this episode, I was thinking "mannnnnnn wtf" lol.. But then...dun dun dun..the side dishes came out. We ordered soondae (blood sausage), budaejjigae (ham/sausage/ramen stew), and johk bahl (steamed pig feet). i took a couple of bites of the side dishes...and all the negative feelings I'd had just moments before, disappeared. I haven't had home-style cooked side dishes in so long. It really tasted home-made and so good. Our soondae came out and of course- that was delicious. Killed that shiet. Then the stew came out in a big stone pot and you keep cooking it on the gas grill they bring out till it's done). The stew was very good- just wish it was spicier.. Last but not least- the pig feet- SO TENDER JUST MELTS IN MY MOUTH. Cooked to perfection. The owner ended up coming out and thanking us for coming and knew immediately we weren't from the area, and just started up a conversation with us. I noticed she went around thanking each table and also asking them if everything was good. I've never seen a korean owner do this before- EVER. So this was a major plus. After thinking about it, I don't think there's much of a Korean population around here, so it must be nice for non-Koreans to come here to eat, as the servers don't speak a lick of Korean. I also thought it was cool for the owner to have hired non-korean employees for serving, it's not a very common thing to see. Having a local Korean restaurant is great. Having locally-made kimchi, kakdugi, and dduk is priceless. There are a couple of Korean-owned restaurants in the Triad, but this is by far the most delicious. The Rice Cake is half grocery, half restaurant. They only make basic Korean fare like bimbimbap, bulgogi, soondubu, kimchi chigae, yukkyechang, and other soups, stews, and pre-cooked grill meat. No tabletop grills here, just a very casual, card-table-and-chairs hole in the wall with tasty food. The staff is quiet and generally friendly. The rice cakes (dduk) are wonderful -- just pick out a nice fresh, soft package. Some have sweet red bean paste inside. Others have pumpkin seed powder to make it slightly sweet. You can buy sliced rice cakes and make rice cake soup (dduk guk). The kimbap is heaven, although overpriced for those who know how to make it. They have kimchi, radish kimchi (kakdugi), and sometimes water kimchi (dongchimi) for sale as well. This is truly authentic Korean grub, nothing fancy, and fresh kimchi for sale. I've been here twice now, both times for a stew. First time I got the Yukgaejang (Spicy beef with vegetable soup) and today I got a Soon du boo with beef (tofu soup). Both were pretty good, but I feel like the stock is missing some flavor from other Korean restaurants I've been to, not locally. The yukgaejang doesn't have gosari in it and that's usually my favorite in it. I like the side dishes, pretty fresh. Going by myself today I only got 4 side dishes: kimchee, pickled cubed radish, sweet soy potatoes and bean sprouts. I like getting more variety but I think you have to go with more people. Very low-key, Formica folding tables. We ordered at the register from a two-sided laminated menu with pictures of each dish. It seemed to be a mom and pop place with pop running the register and mom in the kitchen. They didn't speak English very well, so it was kind of a 'point to the picture' to order. I ordered hot tea, which was self-serve from a coffee machine with a carafe of tea in it, my wife had a soda which was in cans in the cooler (along with lots of jars of kimchi.) Food was served along with a plate of banchan which included two or three varieties of kimchi, some bean sprouts and very tiny potatoes. My friend loves Korean and said "let's go there!!!" immediately after spotting it. We ate here and I'm so glad, because it was terrific. We got the Bim Bim Bap(?)--I think that's how it was spelled. I posted a picture as well. It was a mix of noodles, vegetables, and some meat, with an egg. I'm not sure what they do to the meat, but it was so good. A stray greeted us when we arrived at the restaurant, which was cute, but it didn't let me pet it so I cannot in good conscience give this restaurant 5 stars. They need to train their strays better to respect their customers /s. Anywayss, the restaurant was clean, and not too loud. We were a part of 2 but we got to sit in a nice big booth all by ourselves. We ordered the Haejanggook to share between us. This dish came out with two bowls of rice, and 5 side-dishes, or banchan. They did not skimp out on the meat for the dish and it was flavorful. But the server forgot to give us utensils or napkins til we had to ask for them, and we didnt get any bowls to put the bones in, but the night was late and she was probably tired. But she came over multiple times to check on us and the service was good overall. We also ordered Beer (Asahi) but they only brought us one mug between two people, which was puzzling. But the mug was nice and chilled and the beer good. We just shared the mug so it wasnt a big deal. Overall the food was delicious, the place was clean and the service good. The price was on the expensive side but that's true for most korean good. We split the haejanggook and it could probably be split between 3 people and you can always order another bowl of rice. I recommend this place for anyone craving good korean foodz. read more

Over-priced food for the quantity. Quality is just average to less than average. I was looking forward to trying Darsarong at lunch before hitting the place up for dinner. I'm glad that I only spent $10 on this misadventure - but $10 for this lunch was way too pricey for what was received. The lunch combination I ordered included bulgogi, pan seared gyoza, white rice and cabbage kimchee. Lunch price for this combo is $8.99 but the owner told me they charge a dollar extra for this item as a TO GO order. I laughed and said OK because she really didn't give me an answer as to why. I was anticipating this as my lunch and didn't want to quibble about a buck. Let's assume she charges one dollar for the styrofoam TO GO box. So $8.99 lunch is now $9.99. Whatever. The lunch was a total disappointment. I've never seen bulgogi that is mostly shredded carrot where the beef is practically absent. KOREANS ARE WELL KNOWN FOR PARTICULARLY DELICIOUS BEEF PREPARATIONS. The portion size of bulgogi was ridiculously small. One tiny scoop approximately 6-8 ounces of mostly shredded carrot. Combo included a single scoop of white rice about the same size, making the majority of this $9.99 combo plain white rice. As for the other two side items included - gyoza and kimchee. The two gyoza were good - the same you by in the freezer section at most any Asian market. The kimchee was really good but the ridiculous part was the portion size. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT KIDDING! The four, yes count them, FOUR one inch square pieces of kimchee (spiced fermented cabbage) wouldn't have even filled a shot glass. I will not even give this place the benefit of a second chance. Nice place to stop by when shopping at nearby Super G Mart. Not the most romantic interior, with weirdly big tables and Korean TV constantly playing, but a great place to stop by for a piping hot bowl of soup. I got the kimchi soup, with pork and firm tofu. My wife got a seafood soup with soft tofu. We sat side by side because the table was so wide. Nice array of banchan (side dishes), most of which were great. We have tried a few Korean restaurants and this was by far our favorite. The banchan was very good. I enjoyed the kimchi it wasn't too spicy or sour. The tteokbokki was the perfect level of spicy and the rice cakes tasted fresh and had a great texture. My hubby ordered the bibimbop with pork it was served in a sizziling stone bowl with a half cooked egg on top; it was delicious. Finally I ordered the LA galbi, the meat was tender and the sauce was sweet sticky and yummy. The portions were huge and we took half of it home with us. We will definately be back. read more

I just returned from Greensboro, NC and visited this Korean Restaurant for lunch. I first found this place the last time in Greensboro because I was looking for a Korean Restaurant to replace the one that I use to go to there called Seoul Garden which I have reviewed on Yelp and explain why I don't go back to Seoul Garden any more. I recommend you have a read of that review. Any how...I really like DaSaRang. The owner's and server's are all very nice and better yet the food is good and truly authentic. I should know because I am Korean. It is located in the shopping center where Super G supermarket is located. It is a small place but has plenty of room inside. The most authentic and delicious Korean BBQ in Greensboro hands down. I make a pretty damn good bulgogi (sweet beef) and they exceeded my expectations with the depth of flavor and heat in the Deji bulgogi (spicy pork). Eating Korean food in NY, NJ, LA, etc... the Korean food is just okay but it's probably your only option in the area. The Kalbi tang is good but it's made very differently than what I'm used to, a lot of veggies and not as much soup as I like. Basically ordered almost everything on the menu, didn't really like the seafood pancake since it was more of an omelette than a proper Pancake batter mix.
