Dr. Sternfeld was a knowledgeable and experienced doctor who explained medical issues clearly. I'm sorry that he has retired!

Near the end of my pregnancy, I developed symptoms commonly associated with preeclampsia, including severe swelling, persistent headaches, and blurry vision. I raised these concerns during an office visit and in a message, specifically stating that I was worried about preeclampsia. I was told that I was young and that these were normal pregnancy symptoms. No additional testing was ordered. After two subsequent pregnancies with a different OB, I learned these symptoms should have been taken more seriously. At minimum, I believe my appointment should have been moved up, my urine protein checked, and home blood pressure monitoring recommended. As a first-time mother, I trusted her judgment and was not seen again for about two and a half weeks. At my next appointment, she was out of the country, so another physician saw me. That doctor immediately checked my blood pressure and urine. My blood pressure was dangerously high and my urine showed extremely elevated protein levels. I was sent directly to Labor & Delivery and delivered my baby a month early due to severe preeclampsia. I cannot know whether earlier evaluation would have changed the outcome, but I do know that I felt unheard when I raised legitimate concerns. The experience was traumatic for me and my family. I am sharing this review in the hope that it encourages others to advocate for themselves and seek a second opinion if their concerns are dismissed. Seeing similar experiences in other reviews is one reason I felt compelled to share mine.

Shes flippant, flighty, and does not advocate for her patients. We were supposed to see her for a wellness check during a hospital stay. Hours went by. We finally talk to the charge nurse. We track down Vaya. She decided to go home instead because she was getting a package. If you want a doctor that understands and respects you, look elsewhere.

We, of course, knew otherwise because of her symptoms. We had to beg to get bloodwork so we could be sure and my wife left the appointment in tears after being dismissed and shot down by the doctor. On our second appointment with a midwife who said she was a doctor of nursing, Dr. Denise Castellanos, we had many questions since it is our first pregnancy. Instead of answering them, approximately 90% of the questions were directed to a QR code. This was especially bizarre given the fact that we paid to see her and not a QR code. The "doctor" spent the entire time trying to convince us that she respected our choices and decisions without actually giving us any information whatsoever or showing us any genuine respect. It was all an act. What is the purpose of making and paying for an appointment with a doctor if they are just directing the majority of questions to a QR code or telling you to wait until we are in the right trimester for the question to get answers? We learned more from Chat GPT in 10 minutes than we did from these people in two appointments, totaling approximately 60-80 minutes. Chat GPT also wasn't dismissive and condescending. Even worse, it took them multiple days to get us test results that are critical in maintaining our pregnancy, putting our baby's life at risk. We only found out about the results because the pharmacy called and said we had a prescription. There was a complete lack of communication from Memorial Care staff prior to the call from the pharmacy. When they did finally call, it wasn't even a doctor. It was just some office person from a call center. We tried to make a complaint and they rejected us saying "take it up with the insurance". Apparently they are more concerned with billing than they are with human life. DO NOT trust this place with your pregnancy. DO NOT GO TO MEMORIAL CARE! Go to anywhere other than Memorial Care!

After my first ultrasound, I was instructed to wait nearly three weeks for a follow-up appointment because there were no earlier openings. During that time, I experienced a miscarriage. After being treated in the Emergency Room for severe bleeding and requiring a blood transfusion, I was specifically instructed to follow up with my OB-GYN in one week. However, when I contacted the office, I was told that my doctor believes four weeks is sufficient, despite the ER recommendation. I understand that not every pregnancy loss can be prevented, but patients deserve timely follow-up care, especially after such a traumatic medical emergency. I no longer feel confident in my current provider or in the way my care has been managed. I hope the practice reviews its scheduling process and communication so that other patients experiencing pregnancy loss receive timely and compassionate care.

I have had countless ultrasounds with them concluding nothing is wrong with me. It's been crazy. For the last 30 plus years I've been trying to figure out what the cause is and going to doctor after doctor after doctor begging someone to please just do something different to figure it out. I have also dealt with major issues related to my "monthly bill" us females are blessed with. Dr Lopez is the first doctor to actually do something different. She did a cath/inject hysterosalpingogram. Guessing that's the technical term as that's what's in my chart for what I had. It was very painful for me from the start and she was very nice and patient with me and talked me through everything. She showed me what she found on the screen and was patient while I was able to calm down, breathe through the pain, and look at the screen. I cried. I yelled. I cussed. She was very understanding and when I asked if I was the worst patient she's ever had for that procedure she was very nice and said everyone handles everything in their own way and that's all that matters. She made me feel better. I don't know what it is but the older I get the less pain I can tolerate. It's frustrating. Anyway, she let me know I'll need surgery and we discussed other options during that surgery as well for another procedure I've been asking about so both can be done at once. She let me know I'll get more details in a few weeks at my pre-op appointment. I have seen Dr Lopez three or four times this year and every visit she is very thorough with me, listens to me, answers all my questions and never rushes me. I have been through so many obGyn doctors and I am finally happy to say I found a great one who listens. I'm very grateful.
