He shrugged and told me that I should just "keep taking phenylephrine". I expressed concerns about side effects because I've been taking it for almost two weeks but he said to "not worry about it...it would just go away by itself " and to make another appointment in a few weeks if things didn't improve. Two weeks later, symptoms have gotten worse. It took another month to get a 2nd visit: I told him that the headaches got worse inspite of taking phenylephrine; that I'd attempt to stop but severe headaches returned. I reported getting dizzy spells and nausea. He didn't offer a theory as to why this was happening. He didn't say much except to see a neurologist. He couldn't recommend any. I got an appointment with a neurologist after a few weeks. By then I've had about 2 months without symptom alleviation due to following Dr. Hector Rodriguez's advice. The neurologist listened to my concerns, took a thorough history, and informed me I've been having phenylephrine reaction - that this medication's side effects included dizziness and nausea and brings about severe headaches if you get used to taking it and stop abruptly. (Basically, a withdrawal symptom.) She gave me an effective regimen to wean off phenylephrine and to take care of the sinus symptoms. I wish I had gone to her two months before. Dr. Hector Rodriguez is supposed to be an expert on sinus conditions but inspite of my expressed concerns he never told me about a common OTC's side effects. Even on the 2nd visit he didn't give sound advice about the impact of the drug or how to alleviate the symptoms. I found out later that my brother-in-law also picked him from his network; went there once and decided not to go again because of the doctor's dismissive attitude. I've had the good fortune to have been helped by competent, caring doctors, but I couldn't count Dr. Rodriguez among them. I have nothing to gain by giving him a negative review and will be posting a positive review of the neurologist. Please spare yourself a similar experience and find a specialist who will listen thoroughly and give informed advice.

A few days later she called me to discuss my results so we spoke for a few minutes and I asked some follow up questions. At the end of the call she asked "Is it okay if I treat this as a visit?" and not knowing exactly what that meant, I said it was fine, but thought it was odd that she would ask me such a question. I had a weird suspicion that it was billing related and took a screenshot of our call after. Sure enough, 2 months later, I get a bill from them for a whopping $200 for a "physician telephone patient service". The itemized bill clearly stated "11-20 minutes of medical discussion" I couldn't believe it. Thankfully I had the screenshot to prove to them that the call lasted exactly 7 minutes and they ended up waiving the bill, but I am deeply troubled by the fact that the doctor would lie about this in the first place. What is wrong with the medical system? I'll never be going back as I don't trust her.

When he finally arrived, he didn't perform the assessment he had mentioned and instead told us that our baby needed to have blood drawn. If that was the case, why wasn't I informed of this earlier? I had to drive two hours each way for this visit, and it felt unnecessary. To make matters worse, when we arrived at the clinic to have the blood drawn, the staff couldn't find our appointment. It turned out that the name on the appointment was spelled incorrectly. How many mistakes can one office make? This experience was extremely frustrating and inconvenient.

I've been having ear problem for the last couple of months but refused to seek help. I came in at around 4 pm for a 4:30 appointment, the Dr had one person in front of me and I was called right away. I ended up having ear wax, no big issue; however he was so nice, understanding and informative. He is my hero because I can hear again :) I will definitely recommend him to my co-workers. Also, this office didn't want to take my co payment of $30, which I thought it was a huge plus.
