After driving all the way from Los Angeles to Grants for my friends' wedding, I was in a bit of a…read morepanic. I had done the long, eleven hour drive in sections, and had stayed the last three days in Sedona. During my time in Sedona, however, I felt as if I was getting a UTI. Though I was chugging gallons of water and taking cranberry supplements and Azo, it wasn't going away. The final four hour drive from Sedona to Grants was miserable, and I knew that I was going to have a hard time finding a doctor to see me. With a wedding the next day and a long holiday weekend in front of me, I had a huge fear that I wasn't going to be able to enjoy the wedding and that I wasn't going to be able to see a doctor until Tuesday, after a miserable drive back to L.A. It didn't sound fun. I got into Grants at 4pm, and popped open my computer immediately to try and find an urgent care or something. There was no urgent care, but I called over to Western New Mexico Medical Group. They were closing at 5pm, and I didn't have a lot of hope that they'd be able to squeeze me in. Once I explained my situation to the woman on the phone, she put me on hold to confer with someone else for a moment. "Sure, come on in," she said. "It's no problem. We'll have the nurse practitioner wait for you." I couldn't believe it! When I arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I did not feel rushed or that I had caused any kind of imposition, even though the office was clearly closing, and there was no one else in the waiting room. Not only was the woman at the front desk incredibly nice, but so was everyone in the office, including the nurse practitioner, who took the time to get all of my information, and was able to get me an antibiotic prescription immediately!! I am so grateful for the excellent service (that would have been excellent, no matter what the circumstances), but especially because they went out of their way for me on short notice. It was professional, friendly and overall, a fantastic experience. ...well, except the uti part. :) THANK YOU SO MUCH for saving my weekend!!!
