Came here a few times and really loved my manicures and pedicures every time! I even messed up my nails a little an hour after leaving and returned to cheerful faces to fix my nail free of charge! How awesome?! Nail polish selection is plentiful which is a plus. However, I started to realize the nail technicians reused their tools between customers. Unfortunately, I had to stop coming here for this reason. The last time I visited, the technician used a file and the clipper with skin and nail filings from a previous customer. I uncomfortably had to ask for her to clean it before using it on my skin as I sat in the chair mid manicure skeeved out! Cleanliness is a HUGE deal as fungus and bacteria easily can spread from customer to customer. This is the reason for a 3 star review. If you don't mind this aspect (cleanliness) of a nail salon, then this place has everything else going for it and you should give it a try! read more

The woman who did my nails was lovely and very good. She noticed my cuticles/nailbeds were irritated and she was very careful trimming them and not judgemental at all. They always do a complimentary back massage with every service, aside from the hand and foot massages that come with manis and pedis. I have been coming here for over 10 years. I absolutely love it here. Run by an amazing woman, who makes a tremendous effort to remember all of her clients' names -- with great success. This salon values client loyalty above anything. Every single one of the manicurists here is incredible. They are gentle and lovely. I always get the Essie Gel and it lasts me about two weeks, with no chips! So reasonably priced. I always get a 10 min massage after my nails are done - they have hands of gold! Even if you don't get a 10 min massage, they'll always throw in a few minutes while your nails are drying. Pro tip - schedule in advance for a non-busy time, and you might be able to get a massage while your nails are being painted! Can't recommend this place any stronger!! read more

The woman who did my nails was rude the entire time and did a horrible job. She kept huffing and puffing. I also had to ask her several times to get the skin dangling off that she didn't cut. Got a mani/pedi on Sunday. The pedicure was one of they best I've gotten and I love the shape she filed my nails (kinda of a rounded square) unfortunately one of my nails chipped today (Tuesday) I was upset about it but remembered seeing a sign saying if something happened to your nails within two days they'd fix it, so I went in to ask...why not? Well, they were amazing! Sat me right away and fixed the chipped nail and the one that looked like it was ready too. I feel a little guilty writing this review after reading how much other Yelpers like this place. But, I guess the whole point of this thing is that I'm honest about my experience. Here goes.. Nails and Pleasure wasn't BAD, by any means. Overall, the atmosphere is pleasant, the price is reasonable, and the color selection was relatively good. So if you are in a rush and happen to be walking by this place, by all means, go in. BUT...we all know in NYC there are literally 4 of these places at every corner. They are all pretty cheap, offer a similar environment, etc. SO in order to be deserving of more stars, you need to get your basics down. I don't even expect anything different or over the top, but basics are a must. For example, the hot towels they used for my manicure weren't hot. I appreciated that she searched for another one but when she realized there weren't any, I was given a cold wet towel. Ugh. I also started bleeding when she broke skin on my cuticles. Ouch. Now, I don't know anything about how to do nails, but this hasn't happened to me before so I imagine it's not normal. Then, when I was done, it took me forever to pay. They saw me standing up there but I had to ask someone a few times if someone was available for me to check out. I understand that they were busy, but still. So I guess this place is fine but I would never really choose it amongst all the other options available. Like I said, it'll do the job if you are closeby and need something real quick. WHY WOULD YOU EVER NAME A PLACE "Nails and Pleasure" !?? I still can't help but smirk everytime I see this salon. HOWEVER, this is the by far the best salon with the best deal on the Upper East Side. Five stars all around with the exception of the name (it HAS to drive people away). For $30, you are treated to a luxurious Mani/Pedi - complete with complimentary foot paraffin treatment - as well as a short shoulder massage. To be honest, I'm a little weirded out by salon massages in general, but after a very stressful week I gave in, and did not regret it. The salon is VERY clean (as opposed to the basement salon further down York), in spite of their apparent "dog friendly" status (two wannabe socialites brought their dogs to the salon... insert eye roll here). It it now Danfe Nails - but the same woman runs it with the name workers. Yes there a trillion nail places in the city that are similar. By no means is this the spa-like atmosphere, but it is clean with great prices and very hard working staff. They always remember their costumers and do their best to accommodate. My roommate and I were right around the corner from the salon for 2 years and went all the time. We recently moved a few blocks away but still make the trek over to York to get the great deal and customer service from Danfe Nails! Was looking for a cheap manicure close to my apt and walked by, peeked inside, saw the board said $9 for a manicure so I was sold. They have a decent selection of essie colors, few OPI colors, and shellec and OPI Gel colors. My manicurist was quick but super thorough. One woman walked over and gave me a five minute massage while I was getting my nails done and then again got another mini massage at end when sat down to dry. Mani/Pedi is $25 and a 10 minute massage is $10. The pedicure chairs looked comfortable and they had a big screen TV on as well. First, let me say, this is the ONE nail salon I've been to where you don't get the feeling that they are talking SHIT about you and their other clients. Everyone is so nice! Lola is in charge. She knows everyone's name and makes you feel like a friend. She knows what you like and probably knows your mom by her first name, even though she will call her mommy when you're there together when telling one of her girls to take care of her. "Go get mommy's coat" etc. BEST SERVICE EVER. Can't say more about Daowa and Yang! Lang is SUPER STRONG when it comes to massage. Daowa's massage just feels GOOOOOOOD. They are my two favorites for massage and pedicures. Lola did my gel french manicure for my wedding. I wish i had photos but it was 2 years ago and i never wrote a proper review back then. I really enjoy this nail salon! The prices are reasonable and the place is clean. Even when it's busy the wait is rarely more than 5-10 minutes. Manicures here have lasted about 5-7 days, which I always appreciate. The technicians are all very friendly too, which is great. This place gives the BEST massages. I make the trek to York for those massages...they are that good! I LOVE Danfe Nails. I went to another place on the upper east side a month before my wedding and they JACKED up my fingers. I was literally bleeding and later all scabbed over. Thank god I went a month before my wedding to test different places out. I ended up at Danfe Nails with the owner. She took them off and replaced them with a gentler kind of process so I still had french tips but my real nail wasn't being damaged AND She was firm but didn't cut me ONCE. My nails looked amazing for my wedding and I've been going to them ever since. Their prices are VERY competitive too. Oh and on another occasion, I was trying to get my hair done and nails and feet all within a short span of time. They started on my hands, she let me leave without paying, go get my hair done (i was on the wait list and they called while I was in the chair at Danfe) and come back to finish my toes. Even if I call before my appointment to ask how she is running she will say come in and then takes a customer who walks in and makes me wait.
