Our friends were staying at the Delamar hotel so they invited us to the restaurant Dandelion, located on site. It was a Saturday night around 11pm and surprisingly, we were able to find parking. They also offer valet but not sure how much it cost. As soon as we walked in, I was immediately impressed. The hotel lobby, while minimal, was aesthetically pleasing and smelled spectacular. We walked through the double doors and made it to the restaurant. Our friends were seated at the bar so we joined them. It was quite a crowd and they had a DJ playing a wide variety of music. My friends had wine, and I got a mocktail. Service was good besides a minor snafu we had when it was time to close out but it was resolved relatively quickly. The restaurant is well laid out with a spacious bar, plenty of dining space and a large outdoor patio. I had a great time and look forward to being a guest soon! read more

Dandelion has to be one of my new favorite restaurants. I love Artisan in nearby Southport, and Dandelion is owned by the same group (which is not surprising as Dandelion is located in the newer Delamar hotel in Westport, just a short drive down the road from the Southport Delamar where Artisan is housed). First, I love the decor. There is a gorgeous bar that looks like it belongs in Manhattan. The seating area is very airy and there is a lovely fireplace in the middle. There is also an outdoor patio. My friends and I started with the hummus which had a little kick to it but was delicious. The oysters were to die for with the unique touch of dandelion-feta herbs. The halibut entree with all its trimmings of baba ganoush, fennel, dill, citrus, green olives and pickled shallots was anything but boring. In sum, a lot of interesting and palette pleasing combinations. Bring an appetite, for sure! Service was friendly and attentive. Do yourself a favor and go here. Many times. What am excellent dining experience. We loved the decor of the restaurant, mood lighting, flowing water in the outdoor dining experience. Our server, Carly was exceptional! She was pleasant, knowledgeable and made or stay even better. For starters we had the bread service, it was excellent, served with a very good spread. In addition we had the lamb belly which was packed with so much flavor. For our entrees I had the Berkshire pork chop which was cooked perfectly and served over some greens and a sauce. It had a smoky flavor which put it over the top. My girlfriend had the halibut which she entirely loved. To end the night we had the date custard tart which was simply amazing. Don't listen to the review by Edward. He only has 26 reviews and almost half of them are one star. The ambiance and service are both great. Big bright airy interior with attentive service. The food is really good too, but is also the reason for just 4 stars. We went for brunch and the only must-get item was actually the grilled calamari. So tender and well executed. It's in a bed of black garlic labneh with mint leaves and Aleppo oil. A perfect dish. The pull apart bread was really unique, but not a must get. The side labneh and date butter made the dish. My wife got the omelette and it was good. The highlight was actually the side dandelion greens salad she added. The struggle was the side potatoes and my dish, the Levantine eggs with lamb hash. Both of these felt like they were already sitting on the griddle top just too long. The result was an overdone hash and everything tasting way over seasoned. After every bite I was reaching for my water or a bite of my wife's dandelion greens to cut the salt and fat. Lastly, the date custard was good, but not good enough to bump the rating back up to 5 stars. I'd definitely recommend Dandelion and am excited to go back. read more

I believe this place is about a month or 2 old so likely still working through its kinks. Overall this place is decent for a Mediterranean fancy dining experience. My friend and I came here for our birthdays on a Monday night and by 7pm the place was full and bustling. Parking for the restaurant appears to be free valet (signage is not clear and attendants were weird about it - most of the staff in general feels young/inexperienced, but friendly enough) unless you can find it in the front lot. The restaurant is part of the Delmar hotel. I disagree with the previous review in terms of decor/vibe. The place is very airy and has a lovely gold/garden like vibe. It does feel like a nice NYC restaurant. We tried some cocktails. They were interesting by the descriptions, but sadly disappointing. Wine may be a better choice. We tried the hummus, cigars, eggplant, sea bream and lamb chops. Least favorite item was the eggplant-it just felt large a large steamed eggplant half with some toppings and nothing special. Hummus was nice, smooth and tahini forward with some nice toppings. Moroccan cigars were light and crispy. Sea bream was a fun fish with two sides of different topping came with some excellent potatoes that immediately reminded us of McDonald's hash browns in a good way. Lamb chops were good and also came with a different kind of potatoes that were not as fun as the other ones. The sauce it came with was great and I wish there was more. The descriptions for many ingredients said spicy but I think there could have been some more heat or just needed more salt. We got the chocolate mousse cake for dessert and that was yummy. Sea salt ice cream it came with could be more punchy. Service was friendly/kind and helpful - no complaints. Water was always refilled. We came here for my husband's birthday celebration. I've been wanting to try this place since it's opening. The space is beautiful. The bar looks gorgeous. I do still want to come back for drinks at the bar. The brunch menu items are a bit limited. We had hummus and due to my husband's shellfish allergy, there aren't many other options to select from. I had the shakasuka (can never go wrong) and he got the dandelion Benedict. The Benedict came in a bit cold and when the waiter came to check on us he offered to bring back replace with a "not cold one".. The dandelion side salad is bitter (as it should) so if you are not familiar with the taste it could be a let down. Overall the service was okay. No one came to check on us the first 5 minutes after we arrived despite I called the day prior and made sure they know it was a birthday celebration and pre ordered the bubblies. We've done the pre ordering a few times at other fine dining establishments and received much better attention and services. So it was a bit frustrating that no one came to acknowledge anything. Till I asked. Then it got better after I raised my concern with a manager but really shouldn't have to. Overall a 3.5 /5. The other reviews have valid reasons. We will come back for drinks at the bar and maybe give the dinner menu a try next time. read more

Went for the first time to Dandelion , Sunday brunch . we were seated immediately and nice greeting . 2 starters , Yemeni Kubaneh [ sweet bread] , and Grilled Calamari , both excelllent . Was most excited to visit this restaurant. Waited impatiently since I saw their grand opening and viewing their menu online. My husband and I visited Dandelion for brunch. My husband ordered the brunch burger which looked and tasted amazing. I ordered the Turkish Cilbir which has all the elements of food I love - poached eggs, Greek yogurt, chickpeas, etc. however my food was absolutely bland and simply boring. The chickpeas looked liked they were canned chickpeas they drained and placed on top of the meal. It wasn't fried , crisped, sautéed nothing like that. I was so disappointed in my dish. I will have to revisit them for dinner and hopefully my second dining with them will be a better experience. read more

I have mixed feelings about Dandelion The atmosphere is elegant yet hip. The food was delicious. The downside is the menus is very limited. For example have you ever been to a restaurant that didn't offer a salad as an appetizer?? Next.... the prices were NYC level for little ole Westport CT ! All in all we will go back .....eventually, but only when we exhaust our other local favorites. From the moment you enter, the space feels more like a sterile airport terminal than a warm, welcoming dining destination--vast hallways, cold finishes, and a complete absence of intimacy. The interior design is jarring: oversized furniture clashes with underscaled rooms, and the color palette feels like a haphazard afterthought. It's as if the designer had no grasp of spatial harmony or emotional resonance. And, as it turns out, that's not far from the truth. Christian Siriano--yes, the former Project Runway contestant and Westport dress shop owner--was behind the concept. While his talent for fashion is undeniable, this venture proves that designing couture does not translate to crafting comfortable, cohesive environments. The space suffers from a total disconnect in style, proportion, and purpose. The lobby is perfumed with an aggressive, artificial hotel scent that overwhelms rather than invites. Picture this: you walk in and it's all warm wood with gold accents and high ceilings, like someone took a Mediterranean restaurant and dropped it in CT. Downside? It's loud inside, especially on weekends. Pricey too, expect to drop a bit more than expected. So let's talk about the main reason we venture out - the food. Dandelion's menu is very creative and shareable. Hummus is served warm and smooth with seasoned puffy- broiled pita, a true staple for all Middle Eastern based cuisine. Having been here more than once we had a working knowledge of the interesting herb/spice combinations which are on the menu glossary. Unfortunately the majority of the dishes, both starters and entrees, are prepared with an abundance of garlic and salt, and everything seems to be overcooked, which can never be fixed. From the cigar and sausage starters to the chewy calamari. Despite the waitstaff's thoughtful suggestion to order $42 pork chops or the salmon or sea bream medium rare, always arrives dry. Ordering wine by the glass at $18-$22 arrives in a small 6 oz. carafe pour, portion control at its finest which is quite unacceptable. Tap beer at $9-$13 per short pour is outrageous and forces the customer to look at wine and cocktail options. Specialty cocktails are creative and tasty but light on volume using large ice cubes and simple syrup (not mentioned in description) also sporting higher than expected prices. Bottom line: you will enjoy the vibe and the staff but it's a tough sell when it comes to the price/quality aspect of food and drink. read more

The hummus and pita was th best I have ever had and could eat it go every meal for the rest of my life. The lamb belly was impeccable. The chocolate moose dessert, oh my.
