Their tap classes are a joke, utilizing the same moves from Kinderdance to advanced. Their gymnastics classes don't even get to flips, just cartwheels, and their jazz is average. Ballet is good. Her business is kept afloat by a few key families which you'll notice during their end of year recital because they are in 6-8 dances a piece. There is a heavy focus on costumes, props, and wandering around the stage rather than ACTUAL dancing, and their recital gets very boring very quickly. But that's just the icing on the cake- don't plan to use your card to pay for anything besides the classes- almost everything is cash only. Their teachers play favorites, and those that didn't departed abruptly in the middle of the year surrounding a few rumors that were less than kind about the owner. Regardless as to the truth of said rumors, it is quite obvious that there is a LOT of drama going on and it is significantly, (and detrimentally), affecting her business. There are several costs at various times that crop up out of nowhere- can't be in the parade unless the OUTER layer says Dance Kraze, have to wear the right colored tights (and if your class has two outfits, it's different colors for each), super expensive & poor quality pictures, etc etc. The end of the season is BRUTAL in unexpected expenses, so just be prepared. It's also run through her friends and family, which probably has a lot to do with the expense. With perhaps one exception (Thank you Jason), her event staff is indescribably rude and disrespectful, in addition to being inconsistent. Gods forbid you say anything about it, because they will get in your face and try to power play you to get you to cower in submission and retreat. Or ignore you. Or try to walk through you. Not a place I will ever be returning to. And yet the biggest problem is the fact that the recital was held in a school with LIVE CAMERAS and there were girls CHANGING IN THE HALLWAYS WHO WERE NOT TOLD, DESPITE the fact that the dance studio was informed. Well beyond acceptable to me. We will most DEFINITELY not be returning next year.

BDA has a motto of kindness first and it really shows in my childs smile and the friends she has made. The moms are really encouraging of each other and their dancers. Miss Jasmine and her team has shown nothing but kindness and compassion for the dancers and the children's dreams of creativity and expression through dance. I am so disappointed in Spotlight. Our daughters have taken dance for about 5 years, last year we…read moretook a break from spotlight because we were not thrilled with the quality of the teaching for the price. We went back this year because the girls really wanted to dance. We just had the recital and it was disappointing 1. It was $30 per ticket because it was at the Carpenter theater 2. The dancers names do not appear anywhere...not even on a photocopy on colored paper or something 3. Some of the dances were good (Bollywood was great) but most were unimaginative, poorly choreographed and not in synch. 4. Our daughters' tween class had no discipline, kids doing their own thing, not being corrected on proper techniques of ballet or even behavior and they certainly did not learn proper ballet 5. The choreography for the tween class was similar to their preschool dance class 6. Our kids rarely missed class, and worked on their routines at home - which is when I found out that they did not do much barre technique. The instructor had no control or authority in class. It was a glorified, expensive babysitter. If they are going to charge these prices they need to bring a professional instructor. Not worth the money, now I have find another ballet place...ughh! The second reviewer is correct - the studio is quite impressive and clean; however, they are still charging similar prices to Richmond Ballet ($32 starting prices) and the teenager teaching our girls class had no control of the classroom and we were charged the same price as the more experienced instructors. I'm happy for those people who are happy, good for you but that was not our feeling. In my limited experience (I danced as a kid in NY, my girls danced in 2 companies in VA and 1 overseas) for the prices they are charging other dance studios have done better - and at least put the dancers names in the program. Bottom line to Spotlight - make sure ALL of your instructors are ready to go into a classroom - or at least have another instructor to watch and advise as a mentor for younger teachers (as we are all paying the same price and expecting the same outcomes from instructors), move to a more appropriate venue both for the level of the students and accordingly the prices, and put their names in the program - easy to fix.

Furthermore, the gym itself is incredibly small with old, mediocre equipment. I definitely recommend finding literally any other gym or maybe just consider taking up wiffle ball or bowling.

Military stay far away…read more Around October 24th 2020, I signed up for a membership with anytime fitness located in Chester VA. I am in the military and attended a training that would last around 3 months. While signing up for the membership I was told I would be able to cancel my membership since I was in the military and would have to show my orders. Those orders would say I am not located at the area and would not have another gym within a certain distance. The gyms are well over 15 miles from my location. At the end of my training I spoke again with the manager and gave back the key fob. That was around the beginning of December. I was then told again to fill out the paperwork that was given and I would be able to cancel. My contract was from 2020 to 2022. I tried to cancel after that meeting and was denied since I didn't have a health reason. I explained everything above once again and received no help. I was contacted by the manager in October and was asked to pay. I explained once again I was looking to cancel. I received no help and continued to be charged. My contract will be until 2022 and I am still going to be charged. This should not be because of the information I was told. If I was told correct information I would have never signed up for this gym. It's horrible business to refuse a customer to cancel when they have not stepped foot into the establishment since December 2020.
