Rest areas are usually for stretching, picnicking, and pooping (not necessarily in that order fwiw), and while this place certainly allows for all of the above, it's the nature that makes this a top-notch hiking spot, as well. The Good: *Several pit toilets (don't look down) *Picnic tables *Parking lot isn't huge but it's ample enough. *Series of small cascading water falls with trails along the edges and access to the water. I'm honestly not sure how far back the trails go, but by the time I got to the top it looked like you could keep going for a bit. *Great spot for leaf-peeping The Meh: *The road around the lot is gravely, so don't drive too fast or you'll kick up rocks. The Ugly: *Those pit toilets are...0_o *Yelp Mods who can't read a map to save their lives. I've already had them adjust the pin on here several times and they never get it right--there's LITERALLY A PIN on the map that says "Small Falls Rest Area" and they just stick it in arbitrary places. I'm pretty sure they're fucking with me at this point. 0_o Conclusion: If you find yourself in Rangeley Maine or thereabouts, then be sure to add this place to your list of things to see.

The biggest knock I would give this particular rest area/service plaza compared to the others in Southern Maine would be the fact you have to leave the highway system. It tacks on extra time that adds an extra level of annoyance. The place in general was clean including the bathrooms but could use an updating in my opinion. While the sinks are touch-less both the soap and paper towel dispensers were not. That seems like a pretty common standard but not here. I've been to worse rest stops but this could be significantly better as well.

We stopped in as a club traveling home, needing to eat dinner. We were one a group of about 18 people, and there were two small groups ahead of us as well, each with about 10 people. It was around 7 PM, and all restaurants were closed except for Burger King. The restaurant was where it all went wrong. We ordered, we waited, we waited, we waited, we waited . . . I'm not exaggerating when I say that 30 minutes later we got our meal, which was almost triple the price of a regular Burger King, and it was wrong. Now, it wasn't just our order that was wrong. 75% our group of 18 had a mistake in their order. Forgotten drinks, wrong condiments, wrong flavor shake, missing fries, incorrect sandwich. They only have a kiosk to order from, so it's not like the cashiers typed in the order incorrectly. We knew what we'd ordered and it was on our slip. It got to the point that our coach said, "Stop telling them about the errors and just eat what you got. I swear they're slowing down in retaliation." So, expect to pay triple, wait triple the time, and get the wrong order. Honestly, get off the highway and eat at a local fast food restaurant and you'll be much happier. Get off the highway a couple miles south of the service station in Biddeford and within a mile of the exit is Wendy's, Longhorn Steakhouse, Walmart, Target, Market Basket, Golden Apple Buffet, Taco Bell, and 99. The biggest problem here I think is it's diagonal location offering four separate entrance/exits. Because of this, people are constantly whipping in and out of here - usually with no blinkers or any regard for the heavy traffic on both Brighton and Woodford.
