Best holiday I've ever been on. So good I went back 3 weeks later! (Sod the debts bring on the holidays).
Dalyan has a lot to offer, I would recommend it for singles, couples and friends after a chilled out holiday. I would NOT recommend it for lively stag and hen dos, p* up hols or people after a banging night life.
Some of Dalyan's highlights:
A beautiful river which leads one way to a lake and the other way to the sea. You can take boat trips to both. There is a cheap public boat running to the beach (i think) every hour. It takes about 40 minutes. There is a quicker bus but the boat is far more scenic.
Caunos tombs. You can view these tombs from many of the restaurants on the river bank. They are lit up at around 9pm - a really lovely sight.
Excursions to some really interesting places such as the Saklikent Gorge, 12 Island Tour and Moonlit mud bath visit.
A fantastic painter who has lived in Dalyan 18 yrs. He paints at various places in the town. When I was there he was along the river towards the lake, walk just past the restaurants and he should be there sat next to the path. He sells original canvas paintings of Dalyan and the surrounding area for £30 ish.
Amazing food - I have never eaten so well in all my life! I'd recommend trying the leg of lamb at the Patio Hotel. Also keep a look out for blue crab (local specialty), sea bass and other yummy fish and also clay pot kebab. Be prepared for the enormous portions they always seem to serve in this area.
The men working in the restaurants can be a bit annoying - hassling you every time you walk past. This is usually worse for lone or groups of women. Don't get sucked in! No harm in being polite but make sure you check out everywhere before letting someone coax you in. read more
