Gerainger is the port, there is a tourist booth wher you can book tours for way cheaper than the boat such as norweigan if your wondering. . There is a hop on and hop off bus through out this port. Hop on and hop off is for you to get on the bus, it will take you around the views and famous stops. . The best thing for last is the emobile car, which is a little car which runs on electric. The little car reminds me of a smart car and golf car. . So this little emobile car requires a driver license and that's it. . So if your crushing and happened to stop at this port there is this third party emobile car which is 100 for the first hr to rent the car and go on your own with an audio tour too including a GPS inside the car. It was tastefully and appropriately decorated to match the age of the place. I particularly liked the upright wooden bathtub and was pleased that there was enough hot water to fill it up (which took some time). While I thought the restaurant was a little pricey (for my budget) I ended up eating there 2 of the 5 nights I was there. On the other hand I thought the rooms were very reasonably priced and they had 4 different priced rooms to offer. As I mention below, the rooms may have been cheaper since I was there in September. The Restaurant: The food I had at Røsheim was the best I had in Norway on my three week trip! Truly exceptional food with service to match. There is a set menu and you can get all four courses for 600 NOK (around $72) or just 3 courses for 500 NOK (around $60). Keep in mind that this doesn't include any drinks. Add some wine and your dinner bill could easily be more than your room bill. Keep in mind that I was there towards the end of the high season so prices might have been less.

Trollstigen Road is an impressive mountain road with eleven hairpin turns in the Romsdal Valley…read more Due to several rockslides, the road was closed for the 2024 summer season, so our original tour was cancelled. Fortunately, we were able to book a tour with Trond from Local Trips to reach the scenic overlook. The viewpoint from the Trollstigen plateau is gorgeous. Nice to be able to make several stops along the way to view steep mountains, towering waterfalls, deep fjords and lush valleys. The view platform itself is actually suspended 200 meters above the ground, but the solid steel and glass construction is sturdy. Not so crowded when we visited, probably due to the road closures making it more challenging to reach the viewing platform. Trollstigen is surrounded by colossal mountains, such as the Bishop, the King and the Queen. Bispen, Kongen and Dronninga. Imagine this road being built almost a century ago. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Norway.

Unfortunately not too many places to pull over to take pictures. They do have a few including a big stop at the end (with a huge parking lot) that has restrooms, food, store, view points etc. Was a unforgettable experience.

Stopped on the drive from Ålesund to Trollstigen Road with Trond from Local Trips…read more This was really a beautiful place to stop during the sightseeing tour. We were dropped off at the start of an elevated boardwalk which gave a beautiful view of narrow, high ravine which the Valldøla Rivers rushes through. The waterfall is such a nice view. Love the rainbow that it creates. The boardwalk is also so interesting. The iron walkway weaves back and forth leading to other short hikes. Check out the information board to find other trails. There are also free bathrooms and a few farmers selling the most delicious strawberries and raspberries. A nice place to stop on the way to Trollstigen from Alesund.

I believe this is the center or heart of Alesund. Statues, crowds, magnificent boats, kayakers,…read moreshops & pubs. The architecture is magnificent & the day was perfect to wander. The whole city was very walkable, clean, safe & friendly. This area included Pharmacy Square & the Town Hall.

Spectacular view over the entire city and surrounding waterways! Well worth either the hike or…read moredrive up to the top. The hike is much more satisfying since you can see great views all the way up. At 418 steps, it is rather a climb, but there is also a restaurant at the top to refresh you!
