One of my fondest childhood memories is of my mums delicious home made pancakes topped with golden…read moresyrup and whipped cream. And so it was one stormy morning that my five year old daughter and I found ourselves stranded at Broady Shopping Centre, both of us just as scared as each other by the claps of thunder we could hear. And then I noticed a sign that said pancakes, and I was taken back to a time where my mummy's pancakes cured the anxiety caused by the evil storm. I can't cook like my mum, so I made the best of a bad situation and excitedly told my girl we were going to have a 'girls brunch' and went about ordering us both a serve of pancakes with golden syrup, ice cream and strawberries. (Geez, makes me feel like going back there right now!) Our girly brunch came really fast and the service was so pleasant. The servings of pancakes were HUGE! Three massive pancakes with huge dollops of ice cream and strawberries; I'm not too sure if the staff knew it was comfort food or not, but it certainly felt like as if we were being taken care of! For $7.00 a plate, I honestly can't believe how scrumptious these were, and they did the trick - my daughter and I enjoyed our pancakes and special mummy-daughter time so much we forgot all about that evil storm.

Honestly words can not describe this woman's bad behaviour, snapping and snarling while we were trying to clearly place our order and then when she miss understood that we wanted take away instead of eating in she slammed around and rolled her eyes at us and shook her head. Neither of us could believe what happened and when I called her out on how she was treating us she argued and said it was our fault. DO NOT GO TO THIS CAFE!

I have been to this cafe twice now and to be honest am not very impressed…read more First time was a few months ago. I asked for the Eggs Benedict with a side of mushrooms. It came out and the mushrooms were dry and inedible, could not even eat one of them, they had obviously been sitting out for a while. I went again last week (heat wave week). They had aircon on but i suspect it was just on 'fan' with the front door open (on a 44 degree day!) so place was not very comfortable. We arrived at noon on a weekday and expected the place to be busy with a lunch rush but it was pretty quiet. I asked for Eggs Benedict again (menu had no time limit for breakfast and I am sure I had it around noon last time). They said they were not making breakfasts at that time.. (again - no note on the menu about time limit). I ordered the Open Faced Lamb Kebab instead - while my friend ordered a salad. Our meals came out and the Lamb Kebab looked amazing. The lamb was tender and freshly cooked - the highlight of the dish (see pic). Chips were OK, dips were nice and in-house made I believe. Props for good quality meat being used. My friend liked his bean salad however he did not finish it so not sure if that is a good sign.. But what really irked me (apart from the sweltering place) was the music. The owners are obviously passionate about old 70s / 80s / obscure music and had it playing very loud while we were there. It was just simply too loud. One song had a whilstle bit that echoed through the entire shop and hurt my ears. The songs were so cringe-worthy that I could imagine wanting to commit suicide to them. WHY. Why make your patrons listen to it? I could see that the european owners treated it like their own home kitchen with many regulars (other older europeans) there however there were not many general patrons and I think this turns business away. Really not my cup of tea with that music... good kebab and my friend liked their coffee but the noise, ambience and comfort value is off the mark

Degani's has to be the cafe of choice in Broady. Pretty much the only decent cafe located outside…read moreof the shopping centre and away from the rif raf of the train station. Situated in trendy Broadmeadows Place and with ample parking and alfresco dining, shaded by massive umbrella's, this place is usually humming throughout the day. People of all ages congregate here, I guess it helps that it's across the road from the gym and leisure centre - which is a tip, looking for a healthy snack or coffee place with friends after you hit the gym - Degani's is your port of call. Mouth watering pies, a massive selection of every sort of flavoured cake and muffin you could dream of, the most scrumptious salad and meat rolls and foccacias on delectable bakery bread, and a selection of gourmet cooked meals for breakfast and lunch, Degani's saves Broady in terms of a beautiful dine-in hang out for nice people. (In other words, not the rif raf who constantly hang out at the shopping centre and train station.) A great find. Tempting, tasty, terrifically appetizing, Degani is gourmet bakery cafe dining at its very best. Corporate and function catering available.
