Without going into too much detail about my particular case, I had two other co-defendants with different attorneys representing them: one facing 33 months - outcome 33 months, another facing 24 months - outcome 24 months. Me, being represented by Weintraub & Alper could have been facing upwards of 27 months. Well... I received 6 months. Same case, same judge, same offense code. These gentlemen worked diligently to get me every advantage once we stepped inside the courtroom. One last important point I need to express; the relationship and respect between a defense attorney and the prosecuting attorney is so underrated. My attorney spent a great amount of time developing a great working relationship with the government's attorney and, in the end, I believe it had a significant role in his (the prosecutors) courtroom demeanor. He came out of the mediation room walk right pass me only to come back twenty minutes later to say, He said he don't have no money. My husband deserted me but rouse pitch to the judge like it was a amicable separation. My husband left me almost in foreclosure, had the phone turned off abandoned everything possible as a husband. He (Rouse) knew I was upset he continued to say you don't know it but you won. I continued to tell him I didn't and that I wasn't satisfied because you didn't use any of the evidence. Three weeks went by I talked to another lawyer and when I stated my lawyer met with my ex-husband privately. She said what??? She then stated you know you can appeal.
