The gopchang here is very good! No chemical smell at all, slightly biley but not too much. Most importantly, service is exceptional- side dishes were very good and coming at a consistently fast rate. Daechang is also awesome, though harder to mess up than gopchang. The food isn't the best and it came out super slow but you can't really find this kind of meat anywhere else so I'm giving these guys 3 stars. Their speciality is beef intestine. They have some other stuff on the menu of course but their main thing is the small and large intestines. The portions are quite small so adding a rice dish or an additional side is helpful to use as a filler. We usually order then Texas combo and it barely feeds 2 adults for $74.99. Their parking is ample so that's nice. They use wax paper for their fried rice so consumer beware. The service is impeccable and they grill & cut everything for you! Loved chatting with the owners sister who is originally from Seoul. They were very prompt and didn't bother us too much. I've had both before multiple times and other restaurants. The meat here had some sort of toxic smell and I was able to smell/taste it even after they were cooked. The service here was interesting. The servers kept coming to our table and would cut the meat raw. It was so raw that it wasn't even cutting through but the servers would just force cut and tear it. Came one day with my family since my sister really likes intestines and wanted to try this place out. We weren't too hungry so we ordered a little but was told that the quantity of the food is a lot. The service was good and everyone was nice but I felt that the quantity was pretty little compared to what the waiter was telling us. And it's a bit pricy. I can't imagine going anywhere else to get my intestine fix. Hasn't failed me yet from the couple of times I've been here so far. Service was always great for me whenever I went. They know what they're doing when they're grilling the intestines for you and were pretty fast considering they were grilling for other tables at the same time as well. Interior has booths and circle tables with a grill in the middle of the table. They had a vent above almost every table but you'll still end up smelling like meat when you leave. It also had a modern flair and going for dinner, you'll get a lively mood from all the people. Our go-to is the gopchang and the daechang set and they've been good quality for the looks and taste of it. It wasn't really that smelly.They provide various dipping sauces. My favorite is their secret sauce. It looked like 1000 island sauce but can't confirm, but it cuts through the grease great. Comes with standard banchan of kimchi, green onion salad, cheese corn, etc. The kimchi was a lot spicier than other places so just a heads up. Also comes with a side of fish cake soup which ends up also helping with that sharp grease from the intestines. We also got the $3.99 fried rice add on that you can add towards the end of the meal. It was just okay. Standard Korean-style fried rice that was pre-made in the kitchen that they just place on top of the grill. If you've already filled yourself with white rice, you can pass on this. Love this bbq spot. It is less known, but it definitely deserves a top 3 spot in DFW area. It is NOT all you can eat, and a bit pricy but it is definitely worth the money! My friend and I get the Dallas combo when we go and it fills us both up fine. The intestines are really fresh and isn't frozen like when you order them from other bbq places! It really makes a different in texture and flavor. The server typically grills the meat for you, so you can relax and enjoy your meal. Intestines your jam? Then this is your place. I appreciate the different texture and sometimes the taste but not usually the first food I pick. However when you have those "tired of the same stuff nights..." Our group ordered some beef "parts", large/small intestines and finished with some fried rice cooked on parchment paper. The initial sight while fresh can be disturbing if not used to it but after the ouside has cooked to a nice golden brown, and this is important unless you appreciate more funk, then it is much easier to enjoy this overlooked "delicacy" . I thought the gopchang was not bad since it did not have a strong by funk. They sometimes wash intestines with soap and do not rinse enough which can be just as bad. Any rate quite clean or prhaps the soju and beer masked the distinct notes of internal flora. The green leeks and sesame oil made a nice condament. Side dishes/banchan... Meh. The meal ended with fried rice cook on parchment paper. This was actually my favorite food of the whole meal. I sat in amazement wondering when this paper would suddenly light on fire but no. I have no idea what sorcery this material possessed but it did allow a great crunchy/soft rice ratio with what seemed to taste like bonito flakes infused within the rice. The service was pleasant and relatively attentive. I will say the price was a bit higher than expected. 1 Beef parts,1 large intestine, 2 small intestines, 1 other gastrointestinal section, 1 fried rice, 1 soju, 2 coors light beers came out to $140. A nice specialized place for intestines should you have the stomach for it. One note, I was surprised the unawareness of spacing during this time of Omicron COVID. This variant spreads so much easier than previous variants. People were seated in booths next to each other with the back of head space literally less than one foot away and no physical barrier. When we took a trip to Dallas this weekend to attend a wedding, my SO and I made plans to stop by Dalgopchang to enjoy some intestine BBQ. We certainly came by a good time on Saturday around lunch, when the restaurant was not yet crowded and the server could have been more attentive to the BBQ. We just ordered the Dallas (2-person) combo to try out the selection first. The combo included large and small intestines, and also some tribes. Also included were 2 side dishes - Fish cake soup and Corn cheese, and some veggie species on the BBQ. The banchan side dishes were 3 small plates of the very cheap sides. I'm not sure but Korean restaurants in Dallas seems to provide downgraded banchan compared to other cities that I've been to (including my hometown Houston), such a shame. To me, the intestines and tribes here lacked in flavor. The large intestine did taste very fatty as expected, but the small intestine tasted quite bitter. No salt/flavoring was added to the meats as I could tell, and the 3 dipping sauces they provided did not really go well with the innards. The corn cheese and fish cake soup were so-so as well. Overall, we ended our meal without ordering any additional meats, as we were not satisfied with the combo. Too bad, I must say, NYC and potentially LA are where good gopchang is at! We ordered tripe, large intestine of cow, prime rib-eye, flying fish egg original. I only could eat only large intestine of cow and there's must not any of smell. Finally got to try out this spot again. They had the full dallas combo this time and I was not disappointed! The large intestine (daechang) and stomach (makchang) were my favorite ones. The large intestine came out nicely - not too chewy and melted in your mouth a bit. Definitely better than getting it at any other kbbq place in dallas that I've tried. I knew I was in for a treat when I pulled up into the parking lot and couldn't read the name of the restaurant -- it's written in Korean, you won't see "Dalgopchang" anywhere. It's usually a sign of authentic, bomb Korean food. Sure enough, Dalgopchang is now my favorite place for intestines. Crazy how organ meat is usually tossed aside by Americans but is turned into something delicious you can toss onto the grill here. My friend and I usually opt for the Texas Combo which also comes with corn & cheese and fish cake soup. It's pretty pricy but we love the large intestine. They do grill it for you at the table, it's just up to you on how crispy you'd like it to be. Dalgopchang knows what they're doing when it comes to intestines because I don't notice any smell or bad taste so they've cleaned it and marinated it well. I love gopchang, daechang, and makchang, though I only get to like them about 3-4 years ago when a friend from Korea talked about this. Back then, there was no known grilled gopchang speciality restaurant in Dallas, Texas area, but there were few restaurants offering pan fried one with spices added to the menu. If you visit South Korea or even other well established K-Town like ones in Los Angeles, California or New York, NY, you can find some decent gopchang bbq restaurants, but there was simply nothing at Dallas area at the time. Not till now. There was another gopchang restaurant called "wang gopchang," which closed about few months after it opened up. I've been there and, while I personally think it was okay, I've heard many others did not like the place. Then, this place opened up, located few miles away from Carrollton H-mart area but still near Korean town, and I've started to hear the rave reviews and good things about this place. So, I had to check this place. I've been here about two time now, and I gotta give this place a 4 star rating for the following reasons. I've tried Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong in Los Angeles, California, a very famous gopchang place at Hongdae street in Seoul, South Korea, the recently closed "wang gopchang" restaurant in Dallas area, and one at Yuntangil (which also closed) in Dallas area. Honestly, the taste and the presentation here is not comparable to the one at Los Angeles or South Korea, but I still think this place is decent enough for something that just happened in Dallas K-town. Let's talk about the menu. You can order either the Dallas Combo ($49.99) or Texas Combo ($69.99). I did not try Texas Combo yet, but Dallas Combo is good enough for about 3 people. When you order a combo, it consists of multiple options of different meats. For example, Dallas combo comes with gopchang, daechang, and makchang, and teuk yang. Gopchang is cow's small intestines while the daechang is the cow's large intestines. But you can order the meat individually, like gopchang ($17.99), which is good enough for two people. Regarding the price, I would say it is fair since you are paying for you are paying about $15-$30 each, depending on what you order. As far as the food goes, they are decent. The meat tastes fresh and jelly, just as how gopchang should be with just enough seasoning. There are some side dishes that come with, but you have to order the rice bowl separately if you want them. I wish that they give little more side dishes like garlics, lettuce, sliced peppers, etc, but I cannot expect too much out of it. The food presentation is good, but it is nothing special. The interior decoration is okay, but I hope they can be little darker and has more mood lightning rather than modern style bright light. The service is pretty good. The servers are friendly and nice. Every server is pretty attentive to the customers, and they are welcoming. Overall, this place is good, and I definitely would visit again next time. It's not your typical KBBQ galbi place, and the cool part was I've never had some of these even when I was in LA! Ambiance: busy but service was excellent! This place is as authentic as you can get for gopchang, which is both a blessing and a curse. If you are not used to eating offal, gird your loins. If you're willing to try new foods, this is your oyster. Gopchang is straight up intestines stuffed with fatty (but not fat) tissue, so this can end up giving people a rubbery consistency and mouth feel. But the flavor is really where the point of the food is. It's a bit gamy at first, but dip it in the sauces they give you for the best experience. Everything they put on the grill needs to be cooked all the way through, so listen to your servers and let them tell you when it's ready. The only downside is that when they're busy (which they were tonight) they might miss the window where the meat is at peak doneness. We had to move the meat ourselves a couple of times to make sure they didn't burn, but that's understandable with just three servers for the whole place. The sides are delicious, so don't forget to cleanse your palate with the veggies. The meats are a little on the heavy side, so order some drinks if you can afford it (prices are steep here for bottled beer; if it helps, the Hite bottles are in pint sizes). I didn't know what exactly to order, so I let my friend take care of that. I believe he ordered the 2 people meal and I think it came with small and large intestines, beef rectum, and beef special tripe. The small and large intestines were pretty good. It melted in your mouth and had somewhat of a chewy texture. I was afraid of the beef rectum, so I only ate a few and it wasn't my favorite. This is not your typical KBBQ place. We went in after it recently opened and we came with a pretty large group. They were so kind and welcoming and it was a very lively place. If you're looking for a quiet date night, look elsewhere. The food itself tasted as authentic as it gets. Everything is cut and cooked right in front of you for you. My personal favorite was the fried rice. It's your basic fried rice but they have all the veggies cooked perfectly and evenly distributed and every bite was amazing and it disappeared all too quickly. I got the Texas combo and it was great to have a taste of everything, especially for 4 or more people. We came with three but it was definitely a challenge. As for the organs...... well their specialty is tripe and I would definitely recommend it. The large intestine is great but also very fatty and rich. The heart was our favorite, and was soft and tender. They're open pretty late so it's a good place to go before a night out or even to just have your night out here! Hmm, perhaps go with a Korean-speaking friend for a better experience? We got the Beef Large Intestine and Prime Rib Fingers. To our disappointment the Large Intestine came with full-fledged fat lining the inside - they didn't bother to trim down any of it. The Prime Rib Fingers were well-marinated but very fatty and chewy, I spat out half of the pieces I tried to eat. We were surprised by the lack of pork on the menu, so my non-beef-eating friend had to order a shrimp fried rice. It was a large portion, but a filler dish of greasy rice and few (over-cooked) shrimps. We spent $20/person ($80 total) and walked away hungry - not even a little satiated by the food. This was enough food for two people. The prime rib fingers were exceptional, we were so sad we didn't get to try what they're best known for the tripe but we already decided that we'll be back. Pretty unique Korean BBQ. Like the name implies, this restaurant is all about grilled intestines. Good ambiance (it was packed) and unlimited bonchon. But as a non-Korean, I wish the menu had pictures to correspond with the text. We had to look around/go on Yelp to look at pictures of the food. Had the Texas Combo which included gizzard, large and small intestine, rectum and tripe. It was nice that our server cooked for us as we would not know how long to cook it for. They even brought out heart which was not on the menu and tasted delicious. The large intestine was very fatty and crisp while the small intestine was chewy and had a liver-y aftertaste to it. If you get fried rice at the end you'll be able to mix it up with your leftover food so it can soak up all the flavors from the grill. We also ordered the rib fingers which were great. It's up there in taste with the heart. Overall it's unique and a great change of pace to traditional kbbq, but as a non-Korean, it's an acquired taste for me.
