They called Aspen Dental to request ALL the X-rays they had taken and said i needed to go there in person and sign a release , which I told Dr. Hopwood i would prefer not to interact with them and he could take X-rays at my next visit. This doctor was so very kind and reassuring without being obsequious or speaking down to me and i truly appreciate that. I have a good feeling that this will be a great experience and have absolutely no reservations about recommending Dr. Hopwood to friends and family, which I do almost on a daily basis! I even recommended him to our plumber yesterday!!!!!!

Dr Mehta's treatment plan included, as expected, a cost of $204 to extract four wisdom teeth. But then we noticed an unexpected upcharges adding an extra $500! -- $25 EXTRA for an ice pack (not billable to insurance) -- $300 EXTRA for "Exparel sustanied release theraputic drug" (not billable to insurance) -- $175 EXTRA for "multiple administrations of antibiotics, steroids, anti-inflammatory" (also not billable to insurance) Since Blue Cross never mentioned these charges, we called them back and were told that these were optional, not-medically-necessary charges added by Mosaic! We called back Mosaic and their front office voluntarily removed the unnecessary $25 ice pack and $300 unspecified drugs; but they refused to remove the $175 upcharge! Finally, we got the support staff, whom we found arrogant and unpleasant to deal with, to ask the doctor, who finally admitted that the $175 was optional. Insurance tightly restricts what they can charge for insurance-covered items. But for non-insurance items they can charge whatever they think they can get away with. ChatGPT estimates the doctor's cost of the generic medications in the $175 thing at $10. And we all know how much an ice pack costs on Amazon. What do you think Mosaic's intent is here? If not for our unusual alertness, MOSAIC WOULD HAVE CHARGED US $500 NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE that we would have had to have paid out of our own pocket! MOSAIC REFUSED TO USE JUST PROPOFOL As explained at website "VERSED BUSTERS", many people consider Versed/Midazolam an unnecessary or even harmful drug. In all my years of authorizing surgical procedures for family members, no doctor has ever refused to put a family member under using just propofol. Dr. Mehta is the only medical professional I have ever encountered who refused to do so. IT WAS EASY TO FIND A NEARBY PRACTICE THAT DIDN'T TRY TO UPCHARGE US AND WHO NEVER USES VERSED. I had a problem with all my teeth and had to have them extracted. I have to say I was worried about the pain involved in it. Dr. Fundora and his staff made me feel right at home. He took the time to explain what he was going to do and what I could expect. I will say that there was very little pain and very little swelling. He had my dentures in a week later. The cost was high for just the implant itself, not covered by insurance (the cost of the tooth was partially covered), and two other dentists were less costly. Would they have been better? Would Coastal Jaw have price matched? I don't know. I do know that without that tooth, I did not smile as much as before.
