Aloe blacc show.

This place never disappoints. Consistently amazing. The ambiance is definitely another level. It's intimate at every seat. There's no bad seat. Service is top of the line. The foods are excellent or out of this world. Depending on the day. It's a little pricey but worth it Ps. Sebastian is a gold star server!

What a great venue for music and jazz. We've sat on the main floor and upstairs. All great seats! Menu is fantastic with a great selection of cocktails and beverages. Service is great with a coaster to designate when you need service or when you'd like to be left alone to enjoy the show.

Our first visit to Dakota and we had a great time! The show was AWESOME! The sound was good, our view was good and the energy of the crowd was great. I loved the more intimate setting and I feel like you could sit almost anywhere and have a great view. We had read other reviews that told us to avoid the food but we are rebels so we decided to give it a try! I wish they would have had a few more appetizer options as we didn't want a full meal. The wings and poppers tasted very good but the portions were quite small for the cost. We got there an hour before the show started and placed our order right away so it came out fast and our waitress was very nice. My agave mint lemonade was delicious! I would probably only order drinks again the next visit. Definitely worth checking out a show here though!!

Love this venue for intimate concerts however I am not a fan of their dinner except the French Fries are to die for and the bernaise dipping sauce is so good!! Great to sip on a glass of wine but service can be slow as it gets busy especially during the show- they have the coaster you flip back and forth when u need service Some of the seats do not have the best view for the show so be mindful when booking your seat Love the low dim candle vibes atmosphere here

Wow!! Saw Mia x Ally here and was blown away by everything. It is such a cool small space that packs a huge punch! We had seats at the bar and the bar tender was great and offered lots of suggestions. We started with cheddar biscuits, which were amazing, they were served with honey butter. We then split the chicken sandwich and the cheeseburger. Both were great but the cheeseburger was soo good!! The music was great, I've been wanting to see them for years and the Dakota was the perfect spot! It sounds amazing in there and there isn't a bad seat. I will definitely be back, maybe for just dinner, hopefully dinner and a show!! Pro tip: use the valet service, $15 plus tax and tip.

I've been A-train member and really enjoyed every show Dakota had offered. The chef has definitely done a fantastic job for the menu, which is beyond a typical music bar would offer. The duck breast is one of my favorites. It's tender and delicious, well balanced with rye bread sauce.

This is my first time to Minneapolis and I took advantage of the amazing music scene here! The Dakota is a wonderful venue, top-notch musicians, and top-notch food

My Husband and I enjoyed seeing Sheila E. tonight in this very special Jazz club. Sheila E was fabulous. The ambience was fabulous, the food was fabulous. The Server's were fabulous. The whole place is fabulous. Very well Managed. Classy place for Classic Music lovers. I just wish I was around to see Prince sneaking in to jam. Long live PRINCE!!! RIP! Minneapolis loves you Sheila E.

Ended up here for valentines to watch a show and enjoy food. Its been a long time since I been here but the place was great. As you walk in and look at the décor you find yourself getting am Erie feeling of the amazing tallant that has been here. It brought back memories of the past shows. The dinner was a fixed menu and the first course was the scalopes. The scalopes were fresh and the mixture of acid and spice in the sauce let us know the chef knew what he was doing. The bites were very tender and the flavors were out of this world. Next came the rabbit and well by itself was mediocre but once mashed up and incorporated in the sauce and noodles it was amazing and well turned from jeckyll to Hyde. The portion was right on and not a tiny bite as expected. The steak came next and damn the aoeli sauce with onion was on point. The meat was not over cooked and hard like a leather sole. Each bite was heaven on a fork. The cake was next. I thought it was very good but my other half found it too dry. It had good falours and when mixed with the coulis it was good in my opinion. The staff again was amazing and the champagne kept flowing as we enjoyed the local talent.

Amazing atmosphere and great food and drinks! We had a great night out at the Dakota seeing Shemekia Copeland. The cocktails before dinner were excellent and the food arrived right before the show began. We ordered the ravioli and seared snapper. The service was excellent, and during the show you have a sign on your table you flip if you want them to come to you. There is valet parking available, which we used, and it made parking downtown a breeze. Highly recommend a night at the Dakota supporting musicians and a local business!

Loved this venue!!!! Great music, awesome food options and really delicious cocktails. I had the fried chicken sandwich with the fries!! I loved the fries they had a great seasoning on them! The band was energetic and soulful and Louis Cato was amazing!! This was my first time ever at the Dakota and I can't wait to go back!!! For drinks I had the isle of golden dreams and it perfectly fits the description with smoky pineapple rum and lime and cinnamon!! I like the coasters you can flip over to get service and was able to pay when we needed to leave! Great experience!!!

Any food ordering suggestions for people who don't eat meat or dairy when ordering at the Dakota? I tried emailing them but no one replied. Most other places are happy to accommodate as long as it's a paying customer.

They've been happy to make substitutions for me in the past!

Do I need to bring an ID to get in? I mean if they scan ID at their door?

yes

Such an iconic stage. So many bands. I've easily have seen over 100 bands here…read more My first time there was in the 80's and I saw Impaler. It was a beautiful way to lose my virginity to this venue. Metal with actual raw pieces of meat and fake blood. My teenage self was on the road to having ringing in my later years. Biggest name for me? Jane's Addiction before they moved to the Main Room and that Lala Palooza thing. Hell, the pretenders played there in 2023 as a warmup place to kick off their big tour and to get close to fans. How kick ass is that? The place holds 250 people. 250! Think about that. Nirvana also played that room before they blew up. The last amazing show I saw there was Melissa Carper in the late summer of 2024. Three piece band. A fiddle player, Melissa on a standup base and a dude strumming on a hollow body. It was one of those shows where the audience was there for the music and there was no chit chat. The music was beautiful and I was rocking ear plugs, even though they weren't really needed for that show. It was f'n beautiful. I can't believe I'm only associated with two photos (at the writing of this review) and I will be correcting that. Cross over between the Main Room is now kind of a pain in the ass as people typically don't do it and staff are a little in the muck but it is what it is. If you can see a show there, do it.

Incredible Art Deco interior that will occupy your mind while you are waiting in quiet desperation for the act you came to see. The seats are extremely tight, not much leg room and a bit uncomfortable after a while. I feel like the guides weren't very helpful at getting people to their seats. I I'm still not sure where they label the sections, I had to ask several people and that made some other people realize they were in the wrong seats/section. The lobby opens 1 hr before the show but the doors to be seated don't open until 30 min prior. I suggest getting there 15-20 min before the show starts for smoother entry. You will still have time to grab a drink and find your seats without the hassle of the pre show crowd. It was so chaotic. The drinks are spendy for what you get but they don't take tips so I guess it somewhat evens out. You can request a lid for your drink which for me is a must in these crowded spaces. Not my fav theatre but the if there's a play I'd like to see, I'd go here!

This business is refusing to take any kind of accountability for this, but yet it keeps occurring. Overcrowded (which is great for the bands playing) but extremely hot and uncomfortable for everyone else. No chance at getting drinks at the bar. 2nd time- we seen them advertising 'Family Feud' game night so stopped in. Maybe 3-4 groups of people at the bar at the time. We played 3 out of 3 rounds they had. We won 2 and lost one of I remember right. We played for free drinks and shots. Even when we lost we got free shots, which was very nice. We ordered food. Everyone got chicken - different flavors & habanero cheesecurds. The chicken was gross, not seasoned, had a very weird taste (the actual meat). The cheesecurds were great though. 3rd time- Went to pregame for a concert. Only ordered drinks. I ordered one of their classic cocktails 'Pourhouse Punch' it was horrible. Maybe missing the pineapple & grenadine. I know it has a lot of liquor in it but it was missing something. I asked if I could send it back and get something else. The waitress said she wasn't sure but I'd probably still have to pay for it (as in they don't take back drinks). After talking to the bartender she said she would comp it and I ordered a different drink. I ordered the 'poison apple' which tasted a lot better. The waitress came back and told be they tried the original drink I ordered and that they agreed it wasn't great. My sister got the 'Pourmans Paradise' which tasted tropical and fruity. From all of my experiences here I feel like it's an okay bar, I love bar food & theirs wasn't good. It wouldn't be my first pick.

I dunno, maybe I'm deaf (highly possible) but sound wasn't an issue for me. I wondered too if the band we were seeing maybe brought some gear because I really didn't have issues with the sound quality. Moving on... we had a good time really.. Mill City Nights isn't going to be the fanciest, nicest venue you've ever been to for a show. It also isn't going to be all historic like First Avenue. But it is a totally fine place to hang out in the dark and listen to some music. I did really dig the hard wood floor, which was worn in the best possible way. Fun for stomping around as you were dancing. We found the security procedure at the front door to be fine -- Carded us, patted us down not very thoroughly, took a peek into my purse and that was about it. The ticket buying procedure could have been better. Seemed to take a long time. But once we were in the door, no issues. I found the bar staff to be friendly and competent. Security seemed a little intense at times (like, who's going to jump the stage during the set break really?) But whatever. I didn't have to go to the restroom, so can't comment there. Since we were downstairs, I also can't comment on the balcony situation, except to say that whoever spilled a beer on my head sucks. Is it my favorite venue in the Twin Cities? No way. Would I go back if the right band was playing? Sure.

There are large pilars throughout the main floor, so if you are far back towards the bar, good luck trying to see any part of the show. The one good thing was there were multiple, easily accessible bars and clean bathrooms downstairs.

My dinner was especially good....the chicken fried perfectly...all dark meat the way I like it. The potato salad was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. The ratio of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, to rice was good. Lots of great flavor. I think that everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. The only "ding" would be the service. I ordered the Social salad. It was good but the presentation was trash. I also got a cup of the She - Crab soup. It was also just okay and certainly overpriced. Husband got the Pork Belly Burnt Ends at my suggestion. He asked if they had sauce added to them and if so, to get it on the side. Our server said they are prepared and the sauce caramelizes so no, no sauce. He asked due to being a type 1 diabetic and needed to calculate his insulin. Well, they came out covered in fresh sauce and were too dry to swallow. There were six chewed up bits of pork left on his plate when it was cleaned away. The Texas toast was the only redemption. Lastly the two others shared the half bird entree. Presentation was haphazard and the chicken was visually dry looking. They ate most of it and said the biscuit and sweet potatoes were good. The food alone wasn't bad enough to keep me away; but combining it with the service was. Our server Laura (sp?) didn't make her debut well after we've been sitting 10 minutes. We were there at 5:30 on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. She was very nice. Her second stop was to take our orders. Food runner came and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for water as my glass was bone dry (I even ate my ice) and others' were 1/4-1/3 full. She said she couldn't bring beverages. It's water...not vodka. Weird. So Laura eventually comes back and filled our drinks and left the bill. She did overhear the birthday happenings and was nice enough to offer a free dessert. She got her cash payment and we never saw her again. Maybe it was the end of her shift? It just felt off. The table next to us had quite a few complaints and had a different server, so maybe there was just a bad vibe with the staff today? Hopefully management can figure it out. Bathrooms were nice and decor was nice throughout the restaurant.
