I remember way back when I was a little child I would always look forward to Saturdays because…read moreSaturdays was shopping day! Me and mum would walk around the market hand in hand. The guys at the veg stalls shouting 'PAND A BANANAS' with their cockney accents, the vibrant global stores selling tropical food and fresh spices . Those were the days when Queens Market use to be eclectic and full life. 18 years later and Queens Market is now Queens Ghetto. I feel let down =( She has lost her charm and I've lost a part of my childhood. Right at the front of the market you're greeted with one BIG massive stall that sells S & M lingerie. I remembered walking past there once and witnessed a poor little boy ogling at the mannequins goodies. There are stores in there that you would find at any high street and there's tons of pounds shops (most probably to fill in the spaces). Queens Market only has a few good stores left like the Asian, African, Caribbean and the fish and chip shop. The awkward scent of rotten fish & meat will stick to your nasal passage for awhile. She has lost her unique east London edge. I'm sure many have fond childhood memories at Queens..have you seen our childhood?

Excellent market - often selling exotic fruits only available in high end shops including Fortnums…read more I have seen the lingerie stall and it doesn't use mannequins and certainly isn't sexual by any stretch of the imagination. Goodies include the haberdashery stall - highly competitive prices and very valuable with the increased interest recently in dress making. There are numerous fabric stalls and a first rate curtain shop with some very good quality fabrics, tracks, swags and rails. The weekly vegetable shopping is economical with an excellent selection of fruit. It certainly isn't littered with pound stalls but there is a range of hairdressing and cosmetic shops selling very reasonably priced human hair extensions and accessories. The market and Green Street is the only place in Newham that we still shop. It has a unique charm without hordes of dreary clone shops.

Pros: Location is wonderful. Very centrally located via bus…read moreor train. Ambiance is like your first time visiting Disney World. Whimsy and discovery as you get lost around all the different corners. It's a lot of fun. Service is great, as well. Very friendly stall operators, and they have a lot more alternatives than we do in America. Non-dairy, vegan, allergy-free everywhere you do, and they taste pretty good, too. Food is exquisite. It has to be. There is so much competition all around, if a stall doesn't offer amazing food, I imagine they'd get kicked out very quickly. Cons: No cons really. The prices are even usually reasonable. Tips: Don't eat until you arrive. Be very hungry, share lots of things with lots of people. Try everything.

It was easily one of my favorite spots to have the pleasure of visiting! The main highlight for me was The Black Pig. Their slow-roasted pork sandwiches are unbelievable. Both the honey and spicy sandwiches were delicious but very different. The spicy sandwich had pesto and that went well with the pork and veggies. The honey version was more savory, but still amazing. Both sandwiches had a nice hint of smoky flavor which was nice. The fresh parm was killer. Beyond the Black Pig, the whole market is packed with delicious pulls. Things like artisanal bread, incredible chocolate, and several vendors with great coffee. There was jackfruit on site and that was a treat! it's just a fantastic place to wander around and eat your way through. I recommend starting early to beat the crowds and skipping breakfast.

My local market is small but plentiful with food stalls from all over the world…read more As well as street food, there are also flower stores, cheese stores, specialist artesian food stores, meat stores, a dog treat store, and even a hemp store! They only accept cash so bring plenty or face a ~£2 surcharge at the only near by cash machine in Londis. After eating be sure to wonder around the vast gardens of Alexandra palace and grab a cake at the garden centre nearby. This is my favourite nearby place to bring my dog for walks.

There's probably only about 15 stalls, but you could do a decent food shop here consisting of fruit & veg, milk, eggs, bread, fish, olives, every type of sausage you can imagine (I settled on pork leek and chilli), amazing cuts of pork and even pre-prepared goodies like pies, chutneys and cakes. And if you get hungry while browsing you can grab a little pie to eat there and then - I enjoyed my butternut squash & spinach, and my hubby devoured his chilli beef & cheddar before I could even snaffle some. If pie isn't your thing, there was also curries, toasted sarnies and all other sorts of goodies. There was also a stall selling hot drinks which even on this sunny Sunday had a sizeable queue. ...when can I go back?

So this was a wonderful surprise. Every block is filled with some sort of ethnic or cultural gem,…read morenot to mention all the breathtaking street art and wall graffiti that is there to discover. There's a market that happens only on Sundays til 4pm, so try to go then, but even when it's not happening, Brick Lane is such an adventure to walk through. It has a serious Brooklyn vibe - thank you, hipsters of the world. If you're at all into vintage clothes, arts, jewelry, maps, antiques, home decor, and bric-a-brac, this is the mecca for it. I've never seen this much vintage merchandise in one location! Make sure to check out the underground vintage market halfway through the street, because if you're into shopping at all, you'll find tons of second-hand designer clothing and accessories. The food options literally left my jaw dropped, and the same will happen to your Instagram followers. The crux of it is geared towards Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi cuisines and dollar stores (hence the unofficial nickname, Curry Lane), but you can find all sorts of shops on the street, like chocolatiers, donuts, a world-famous cereal bar, Lithuanian food, Ethiopian food, Middle Eastern food, and more. There is so much personality and eclectic energy to Brick Lane - I can't recommend it enough that you add it to your itinerary!

It's huge underground area full of vintage shops! The prices were a little too pricey for me, but the best part was the food! There's a whole street food market in that area that serves all kinds of foods, drinks, and desserts. This was where I had the best mango sticky rice I've had in a long time! Strongly recommend checking this place out!
