Jamaican Beef Patty
Lucas N.

The workers were kind! So customer service was a 9. Not impressed with the wait or food. Went to da blue lagoon food truck, waited 20 minutes for the beef patty, and it was sub par. Not sure that I'll return. Perhaps one of the main entrees would have been a wiser choice.

I was greeted by the owner when I walked in. He said every customer should have a memorable experience and I did. He whipped me up a special taco while I waited for my food. I cant wait to go back. My food was very flavorful. I've been wanting Jamaican food since I left there a few months ago. The store was cleaned and he made sure his hands were clean as well.

Food was cold , jerk chicken dry. Service was friendly but didn't bring napkins water was nasty. The building was nice but cold as heck and I wore a hoodie.

Love this place. Sadly it's always empty and it seems the owner is doing everything himself. On a Friday night there was one other table while we were there and a few take out orders. The food is just too good for that. Service is friendly and fast despite the one guy doing everything. With reggae music playing makes it feel warm on a cold January night. We need an Indy Keith Lee to help this lace out.

Jamaican Beef Patty - rice & beans, Soca Mac N Cheese, and beef patty

Went to the food truck today and the person taking my order was so kind and helpful! The food came out hot and fast. The Mac and cheese was divine and I loved my beef patty. Looking forward to trying more from this restaurant

Jerk Jerk Bone In Chicken Lunch
SANDY P.

We ordered 2 jerk chicken lunch specials. The rice & peas were good, the butter vegetables (cabbage) was AMAZING!! The jerk chicken wasn't good. It was very hard and seem to be old. It was like some re-heated chicken from yesterday maybe? It was also more bones than chicken. I would go back and try something else but I wouldn't get the chicken again. I am from Chicago & I love Jamaican food and eat it very often. Jerk chicken is not suppose to be dry and hard like that. That lets me know it was not made fresh off the grill.

Oxtail, Rice and Peas, and Fried Plantains

The oxtails were tiny and the plantain looked like charcoal. I ordered this on Uber eats. Terrible.

Maaaaaaan, it was so good I went two days in a row on some "I work too hard not to treat myself"…read moretype time. Here's the real: While this places price point is below the amount of food you get- everyone knows in today's climate, eating out isn't financially responsible on a whim. Ok; now to the food. Why haven't I tried this before now? I ultimately went because I attended a Yelp elite event around the corner at a coffee shop & I was starving for something savory yet not something that is already in my monthly rotation. I saw the larger than life sign as I drove down the street and pulled over. I checked their menu online first to see if they were open & what their price point was. All checked out. On the first day, I ordered the chicken curry meal for $14.95 plus I added two beef Pattie's & one curry shrimp pattie. I was blown away by the flavor in the curry chicken, the veggies were cooked perfectly & the flavor was on point. The rice & cabbage were also great (I wish I got a little more cabbage tho lol but that's just me being greedy) The second day - I brought my man. He ordered what I had on the first day and I ordered the jerk chicken + rice/beans & cabbage. WOWZERS! I noticed on the ordering site you can order whole jerk turkeys & chickens for special occasions as well as catering sized sides. I'm 100% plotting on my next visit. My tummy and tastebuds were so pleased! Thank you YASO!

Yaso is an absolute gem, and I'm a loyal customer! I usually order the whole Red Snapper prepared…read moreEscovitch style (which is always phenomenal--perfectly fried and topped with the tangy, pickled veggies). However, today I decided to switch it up and ordered the Red Snapper Filet prepared with Brown Stew, and it was equally fantastic! The fish filet was incredibly tender and flaky, and the brown stew sauce was rich, complex, savory, and had just the right balance of sweet and spice. It hugged the filet and the classic sides (rice and peas, and steamed cabbage) beautifully. It was truly a comforting, soul-satisfying meal. The service is consistently quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Whether you are a fan of the Escovitch or the deep, savory flavor of Brown Stew, Yaso executes both perfectly. Highly recommend stopping by for authentic Jamaican cuisine!

Very fine beef filling and delicious pastry. Mac n cheese- amazing! Zesty and creamy. Perfect with the green beans! Green beans- so smoky and tender. Pairs perfect with the Mac n cheese! Gumbo Greens- I was so excited, but I didn't really like it. Too much filé or herby for me. Gave it a weird taste. But it was thick with meat and rice and greens! It ain't cheap. And it's really good. We will definitely try more things!

To be honest, I had been wanting to give this place another try because the first time I visited,…read morethe main entrée -- the oxtails -- was extremely salty. I finally made it back today around 8:45 p.m. I knew the restaurant closed at 10 p.m., so I made sure not to come at the last minute. I ordered and paid for my food at 9:06 p.m. My concern is that I was told my order would be ready in about 10-30 minutes, but I did not receive my food until 10:06 p.m. I remained patient and respectful the entire time, but there was no apology for the delay. Then, after getting home, I found the food once again overly salty to the point that it was difficult to enjoy. For the price paid, I expected better quality and customer service. I truly want to support Black-owned businesses, which is why I came back and gave the restaurant another opportunity. However, consistency, professionalism, and consideration for customers should remain the standard for everyone at all times. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, because there is definitely room for improvement in both service and food preparation.

The inside is quite roomy with plenty of room to spread out. We were quickly seated and greated to get our drink orders. A few of us tried the passion fruit juice drink which comes in a rather large glass but was quite good. For an appetizer we ordered a few of the Haitian Pates which were amazing and each one was big enough for 2-4 people to share. For our meals, we ordered the chicken entree, pork entree and the turkey entree. Each entree came with a number of side items on the plate. I was amazed at how much food and how many items we received for the price we paid. The server was very friendly and attentive although we did have to chase her down for the bill which wasn't really a problem. Plan on having cash to tip because once she ran my card, she said she didn't have a way to add tip to the bill or the credit card slip. Maybe you can add it ahead of time, but I didn't think to ask before. Luckily our party had some cash to tip. We really enjoyed all of the food and will definitely be back soon.

I was looking to try something different and ended up here. I really wanted to like this place…read moremore, but it was tough. You will find this spot in at the end of a strip mall. There is a lot of parking available in the lot that it shares with the other business in the strip mall that it is located. They have a decent sized dining area, that almost looks like a banquet hall. There is a roped of VIP area, a non-alcoholic bar with seating, a vip room and a stage where they host live music. It looks like it would be a hoping place on weekends. You will also find an ATM here as well as a few televisions around the bar area. There is a patio area in the front of the restaurant, but it was closed and had tables stacked on top of each other when I was there. I decided to dine in, which was kind of awkward. I was never seated. I just found a table after standing there for about 5 minutes. The table was not very stable and rocked throughout my meal. Normally, the server brings a glass of water out to the patrons too, but that was not the case here. I had to even track down the server to take my order. The staff there is friendly enough, but as I have mentioned, they are very hard to communicate with. They offer a limited menu that rotates based on the day of week. This is an authentic restaurant. I mean authentic, authentic. communicating with them was very difficult. They did not understand a word I said and vice versa. Somehow I was able to place my order, even though it took a while. I went with the fried goat, which came with french fries, plantains and slaw. I ended up having to point out the drink I wanted in the cooler behind the bar. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it looked delicious. I will be honest though, it was not very good. The plantains tasted like cardboard, the fries were a bit off too. The goat was good, but it and the rest of the food was luke warm at best. It was like it was already prepared and just put on the platter. I ended up throwing my plantains away and I do not like to waste food, but I just could not eat them. I really really had high hopes for this place, but it did not deliver. The food just did not do it for me. The communication issue affected the service and the prices were a bit steep. my meal and drink ran me about $25. I hope that my visit was an off day for the restaurant, but I will probably not be coming back anytime soon.
