I had a 5 year old, an 8 year old and a 17 year old with me. We went out 25-30 miles from shore and everytime we put our lines in the water we got a bite. The kids were having a blast. I was worried about being 6 hours on the water but it was so much fun! it was easy to book a boat and the captain and Austin made it memorable. worth every penny!! The boat was clean and had all the supplies, the Captain showed us what to do and Austin was there to help with anything. all I had to do was pack some snacks and water and we were on a roll. I would recommend this company any day. I would trust them with my family anytime. They even cleaned our fish and told me how to cook it. thank you for the wonderful time, the kids won't forget it.

Great big pier by the entrance of Dauphin Island! Ample parking space and is very well maintained…read more The staff and workers are very friendly. It is $6 per person to enter/fish, and no additional fishing license is required. There are a lot of empty shopping carts around the parking lot, use one of those to move all your luggage through the pier! What a great idea, it definitely helps making your visit more enjoyable. The pier is very long and it has many sections branching off of the main strip so you dont have to worry about not finding a space. Everyone you meet there are very friendly and very willing to help you with fishing tips. No outside alcohol beverage is allowed, so grab a few beers at the store before heading out. The store also sells baits, fshing equipments, snacks, coffee, ice box etc. It also has a sink where you can descale and prep all your fish before heading home. Nicely lit up through the pier, and they have a few built in hut areas with benches to avoid too much sun. Caught a lot of decent size fish!

Booked a dolphin cruise while in Dauphin Island. Waited to the last minute so dates and times were…read morelimited. I specifically wanted to book on The Duke due to past experiences. The Duke is a large boat and kids do not have to wear life jackets. The boat has plenty of adult and kid life jackets. There is plenty of seating area and the seating area is covered. There is a bathroom on the boat. The staff is very nice. All of the kids got a chance to drive the boat. Unfortunately, we didn't not see any dolphins on this trip. This was not the case on past visits. What sets this boat apart is they drag nets and bring marine life onto the boat. The kids get to learn about the fish, crabs, shrimp and what ever else is grout up. The staff removes anything that can harm them and then the kids get to throw the fish back into the water. Birds and other marine life may or may not eat what is thrown back. I will continue to do dolphin tours with The Duke. Next time I'll probably do a fishing trip.

We had an incredible offshore trip with Red Eye Charters and I can't recommend them enough. Our…read morecaptain, Gary, took us out for a full 8-hour trip offshore and worked incredibly hard the entire time to make sure my son and I had a great first time experience. The seas were pretty rough that day with a storm coming in, but he handled the boat like a pro and kept us safely moving between spots to stay on fish. We fished several different oil platforms and were catching red snapper most of the day (even if they had to be released, we still brought back Sheepshead, Whiting, and Spanish mackerel). At one point something huge hit my line so hard it actually snapped it, and Gary said it was likely an amberjack coming up with the snapper -- an unforgettable moment. What impressed me most was how knowledgeable and patient he was. He kept the boat positioned perfectly despite the wind and waves and was constantly helping us with lines, bait, and technique. Even in tough conditions, he made sure we stayed on fish and had a great time. We also saw dolphins, a Coastguard helicopter rescue, and had pictures taken at the lighthouse while we were out there, which made the day even more memorable. (We were even able to bring our dog). By the end of the trip we were exhausted, a little salty from the waves, and completely happy. If you're looking for a captain who knows the Gulf, works hard for his clients, and genuinely wants you to have an amazing fishing experience, book with Gary with Red Eye Charters. We will absolutely go out with them again next time we're in Gulf Shores.
