3.5? Tough call. Food was good, girl at order window was friendly, but order was wrong, and curry was a bit on the blander side. COVID set-up is great, especially during good weather. They have an order counter w/ shield set-up right outside the door. Menu is posted, so it's a straight-forward procedure. There is no option for patio as it's located inside a strip mall. It seemed to be a busy place as I observed a lot of people order/grab takeout as I waited for my food. I ordered 2 large rotis, 1 - Chicken Curry, 1 - Jerk Chicken. When I got home, 30mins away, I noticed that they was a significant size difference btw the 2. I know Curry and Jerk are 2 different flavour profiles, but the Curry was a bit on the bland side. It tasted as though they were catering to the local tastebuds...if you know what mean. Great option for the area, but there are some better options near me. Delicious thin roti wrapped in equally yummy curry chicken. There's also curry goat, shrimp, veggies, beef and if you want there's jerk chicken. You can choose to have a small or large roti based on your appetite. They also have 5 levels of hotness for spice. A level 3 is hot and 2 is medium. Had the small chicken roti and ate in today. It was filled with lots of tender dark chicken meat and some potato and chick pea in the filling. Strongly suggest to add the curry gravy to eat along side it. Ordered level 3 spice and it wasn't hot at all so might have to try 4 or even 5 next time. Will be back. Maybe also try their meals that have rice & beans and coleslaw too because saw people eating that also. Seating is limited and try to get there early as there's a lunch rush of customers and there's limited seating. The only not good thing is having a 2 seat round table right by the one door which is often open and closed a lot during the busy time. Sadly, there are some selfish or inconsiderate customers who keep their foot on the base of the door keeping the door either ajar or open widely. As a result, food gets cold quickly especially if it's any temperature below 18°C/64°F. Today was one of the colder days so my roti got cold quickly. Not really a fan of their collection of food on the menu but the roti is something I recommend for a first time customer. I do enjoy the different spices and choice of meats for their food and would probably just order something smaller next time because the prices are a little high. Amazing food! We went for our first date, we've been back three times since then. The food is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the large curried goat dinner. The portion is enough for me to have left overs the next day, which I love! Other curried goat meals I've had have the bones in the goat, D Hot Shoppe is boneless and incredibly tender. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is small and intimate with maybe ten tables, they do however offer take out if the tables are full. All the seating was taken when I arrived and there was a fair line up but I decided it must be worth waiting for. I ordered up a small jerk chicken dinner with rice and beans and coleslaw. My order seemed to take a bit to come up as mostly everyone was getting roti of some sort or other. The roti looked quite good and everyone seemed to be enjoying so must plan to come back and give it a try. Despite the wait, when the jerk chicken came out it was very good, nice and juicy inside with some nice bbq jerk outside. The rice and peas were tasty as well with some yam mixed in too. Originally coming from Brampton I was spoiled with the different options I had when it came to choosing what Caribbean restaurant I wanted to visit. However, I am happy to say though that this restaurant definitely matches up to the quality I had at any of those other restaurants, and I will continue to visit this place for my Caribbean food cravings haha. It was fabulous, We got six roti's for the family and everyone loved them. Shrimp goat and chicken. I really liked the fact that they give you extra gravy on the side individually in a container for each roti. hot sauce on the side ( some places just don't give it and tough to share with the kids). Disclaimer: this review only takes the food into account. The place was understaffed (management?) and they did what they could, I guess. Several people had recommended this place to us, claiming it to have the "best roti ever", "authentic Caribbean" and "huge portions". Imagine our surprise opening the take-out containers only to find a fist-sized "large" pumpkin roti and a chicken curry, which was simply a container of rice with an actual handful of potatoes and some chicken haphazardly placed in the corner. Some food! We shrugged, sat down, and began to eat. It took 13 seconds, or 8 chews, for my girlfriend to rush into our kitchen for salt and any hot sauce we had (unfortunately, I cannot comment on D's hot sauce, as it was forgotten with our order). The roti itself was delicious, but it had so little filling that I was essentially eating bread on its own. Yes, I could have soaked it in the flavourless, taupe lunch lady-style "gravy", but I opted not to. The chicken curry was bland (as previously mentioned) and lacking in chicken. It saddens me that this is considered by many to be the pinnacle of Burlington Caribbean. However, we can't be surprised, especially given the amount of low-quality restaurants in a cultural vacuum of a town that is allegedly "the place to be". I had no idea this gem was in my 'hood. Ordered takeout for the fam- 5 people and paid $40. Ordered two small chicken Roti's and a large goat for myself. Also got the jerk chicken dinner for my hubby. Couldn't pass up the vegetable samosas on the menu. Food was delicious, hot (temperature) and everything you want in a Caribbean meal. I'm a big fan of the roti at this place. I like roti that isn't too runny, doesn't break into a million pieces as soon as you take a bite and most importantly, has lots of meat and potatoes packed into it. That's exactly what you get from this roti, it's perfectly made. I only gave them a 4 out of 5 because sometimes the line ups are a little long. The staff is friendly but perhaps because there was a long line up and they were trying to rush through the orders I felt a bit rushed when placing my order.
