A little bit of the Caribbean in Canada! Parking: easy as it is a strip mall Drinks: a wide variety of Caribbean drinks! Food: so so soooooo delicious! We had the goat roti, beef roti, vegetable roti and doubles. All of them were so tasty. The only thing that I would caution is that they have a lot of spice. Even level 2 was very, very spicy. I got level four for my goat roti and it was too spicy for me. However, that didn't stop me from eating it all! We also had catering for their curry chicken and curry chick peas for Christmas dinner. It was eaten and loved by everyone! Service: very nice! Naz at the front was super nice! She explained what all the dishes were and provided service with a smile! Atmosphere/vibe: very nice typical Caribbean restaurant. Felt like home away from home. Age group: all Bathroom: did not use Return:absolutely read more

I just wish they'd let me get the hot. "Oh no, that'll be too spicy for you." At least I still pass. Tasty enough, and a good venue. read more

A long standing destination for WI food in Burlington. Good Chicken and Beef rotis and dinners.

Great service and food was good and consistent, always like to get extra gravy with our roti! Few patties to go and they have cocoa bread the best. read more

This Trinidadian food from the Caribbean is absolutely mouth water! It was my first time having Caribbean food and I was in heaven! Every bite I was just closing my eyes in complete satisfaction! It's definitely 5 stars eats! I highly recommend it! The meat was marinated to perfection. It was succulent, juicy, just finger-licking good! I was very happy A must try for authentic Caribbean food! read more

New owners . The taste is not nearly the same . Hot spice but no flavour. The roti sauce is more yellow/red as well . They changed this place from a great Jamaican little gem to little India . read more

3.5? Tough call. Food was good, girl at order window was friendly, but order was wrong, and curry was a bit on the blander side. COVID set-up is great, especially during good weather. They have an order counter w/ shield set-up right outside the door. Menu is posted, so it's a straight-forward procedure. There is no option for patio as it's located inside a strip mall. It seemed to be a busy place as I observed a lot of people order/grab takeout as I waited for my food. I ordered 2 large rotis, 1 - Chicken Curry, 1 - Jerk Chicken. When I got home, 30mins away, I noticed that they was a significant size difference btw the 2. I know Curry and Jerk are 2 different flavour profiles, but the Curry was a bit on the bland side. It tasted as though they were catering to the local tastebuds...if you know what mean. Great option for the area, but there are some better options near me. Prices were good though AND they serve only boneless chicken. read more

Great West Indie food for the Oakville/Burlington area. Coming from Jane & Finch in Toronto, this place is the best find in the Halton region. I've been in Halton now for 10 years and haven't found anywhere else better. read more

Delicious thin roti wrapped in equally yummy curry chicken. There's also curry goat, shrimp, veggies, beef and if you want there's jerk chicken. You can choose to have a small or large roti based on your appetite. They also have 5 levels of hotness for spice. A level 3 is hot and 2 is medium. Had the small chicken roti and ate in today. It was filled with lots of tender dark chicken meat and some potato and chick pea in the filling. Strongly suggest to add the curry gravy to eat along side it. Ordered level 3 spice and it wasn't hot at all so might have to try 4 or even 5 next time. Will be back. Maybe also try their meals that have rice & beans and coleslaw too because saw people eating that also. Seating is limited and try to get there early as there's a lunch rush of customers and there's limited seating. The only not good thing is having a 2 seat round table right by the one door which is often open and closed a lot during the busy time. Sadly, there are some selfish or inconsiderate customers who keep their foot on the base of the door keeping the door either ajar or open widely. As a result, food gets cold quickly especially if it's any temperature below 18°C/64°F. Today was one of the colder days so my roti got cold quickly. Mumbled underneath my breath but thankfully a customer who was leaving the restaurant reacted and told the idiot to keep the door closed. read more

This place is great, staff are always friendly and the food is always good. Highly recommend

As a regular customer for many years not only was the food consistently amazing but placing a large order for a company luncheon went flawless. Simone and team even customize each order with names, which made our job as hostess really easy. Several first timers gave rave reviews. We will definitely do this again! Thank you so much for your continued friendly and good service and excellent West Indies food experience. SGabel JWillcox BICanada read more

Went here for the first time, considering it is so close to where I leave. The service is great, the people there are so nice. The good was excellent, I love my chicken rotis, and they do an excellent job. read more

Really good. And ACTUALLY spicy. Me and my friend both have high spice tolerance, he asked for the hottest possible and he was crying from every part of his face. read more

Not really a fan of their collection of food on the menu but the roti is something I recommend for a first time customer. I do enjoy the different spices and choice of meats for their food and would probably just order something smaller next time because the prices are a little high. I am currently looking for a new roti restaurant just because I would not go back to this establishment on my own. 3 stars for sure and keeps room for improvement. read more

D Hot Shoppe Location: Small hole in the wall located in strip mall. Plenty of parking shares with other store owners. 4/5 stars Atmosphere: It's a walk up to the counter, place your order and wait! Small dinning room that seats no more 25 people. So be prepared to wait or bring it home. 4/5 stars Service: There is usually long lineups. There is only one person taking orders. And during lunchtime, it get pretty busy! I've waited 20 minutes at times, but well worth the wait! I suggest to call ahead and place your order. 3/5 stars Food: One of the best Caribbean food in the 416/905. Their style is Trinidadian! Like what others have commented, watch out for your spice. When they say medium, that mean hot. Don't be a hero! Most roti places will use potatoes to compensate the lack of meat. NOT A D HOT SHOPPE. I usually get the curry goat with gravy, be warned that is their hottest item and usually sell out quick. Try the jerk chicken too, you won't regret it! 5/5 stars Price: Priced correctly with the portion size you get. You can have a meal for two for about $20. 4/5 stars Overall: If you live in the west end of the city, and looking for authentic Caribbean food, look no further! 4/5 stars read more

Amazing food! We went for our first date, we've been back three times since then. The food is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the large curried goat dinner. The portion is enough for me to have left overs the next day, which I love! Other curried goat meals I've had have the bones in the goat, D Hot Shoppe is boneless and incredibly tender. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is small and intimate with maybe ten tables, they do however offer take out if the tables are full. Between five and seven o'clock it's very busy so I suggest calling ahead to order take out. Whenever someone asks me where to get great Caribbean food, I always suggest D Hot Shoppe! read more

What a bustling place around lunch time. Was in the area so thought I'd try D Hot Shoppe's jerk chicken. All the seating was taken when I arrived and there was a fair line up but I decided it must be worth waiting for. I ordered up a small jerk chicken dinner with rice and beans and coleslaw. My order seemed to take a bit to come up as mostly everyone was getting roti of some sort or other. The roti looked quite good and everyone seemed to be enjoying so must plan to come back and give it a try. Despite the wait, when the jerk chicken came out it was very good, nice and juicy inside with some nice bbq jerk outside. The rice and peas were tasty as well with some yam mixed in too. So all in all, the jerk chicken was very good with a generous portion size and so was quite a good value. I would recommend. read more

Great food and service with an expanding menu and very important service with a smile

Lineups out the door during lunchtime. This roti place is easily the best roti in the entire GTA. I always order the goat roti medium spice, for most people i would recommend mild as the hot sauce has a serious kick! The goat is always tender and i love how the roti always comes with gravy at no additional cost! Its about 20 minutes of bliss while eating it with punishment the day after or the same night depending how how you order it read more

Went here for lunch today. The line up was crazy. Anyway we had ordered to go and we ate it back at the office for lunch. I had ordered a large beef roti and it was very good. Next time I'll try the Jerk chicken. Tip: There are 6 levels of heat starting from mild to suicide. I had medium which level 3 and it was very good. I can take hot but I wasn't going to start off on level 6 right away. I think I could up to hot which is the next level up. read more

I'd call it a hidden gem, but its pretty busy every time I go so I think the word is out. My whole family likes the food, including my kids. We usually get the jerk chicken but also like the roti, but I think the real winner is the double - when they ask you if you want chutney and hot sauce say yes. The covid-19 setup is pretty good, outdoor lineup and the checkout is at the door. read more

Originally coming from Brampton I was spoiled with the different options I had when it came to choosing what Caribbean restaurant I wanted to visit. However, I am happy to say though that this restaurant definitely matches up to the quality I had at any of those other restaurants, and I will continue to visit this place for my Caribbean food cravings haha. I just wish the pricing was a bit lower on the doubles, other then that it's fair in my opinion :) *If your a first-time customer visiting I suggest you either try the chicken or goat roti. They're jerk chicken is also bomb! I also like how you can choose the different levels of spiciness you want your meal to be - definitely a plus as well. read more

Typically good! Lately the roti spice distribution has been inconsistent, so one spot will have zero pepper, then BOOM you get a hit of pepper and it's not really pleasant... it never used to be like this, so maybe there needs to be some serious coaching with kitchen staff. Otherwise a solid spot for roti. Usually super busy. read more

If you love Trini Roti or Jamaican Jerk. You won't be disappointed. It didn't take long for Burlington's best kept secret to become one of Burlington's most popular lunch destinations. Generous portions, and always tender and flavourful. Your only challenge to experience this landmark is the lineups are often. So call a head to place your take out order, or arrive early or a bit later during their peek times. read more

Our go to place in Oakville was sold out close to closing time on Saturday. Knew about this place , and zipped over to give it a try (had a serious roti craving). It was fabulous, We got six roti's for the family and everyone loved them. Shrimp goat and chicken. I really liked the fact that they give you extra gravy on the side individually in a container for each roti. hot sauce on the side ( some places just don't give it and tough to share with the kids). I am a fan. the service was exceptional for a take out place. Great attitude. Great food. No wonder they have line ups. The deadly is hot, and I loved it. But some cant take it. Hot sauce on the side always a good thing. 5 stars as they gave me a meal that enjoyed and felt happy with the service. read more

Overall: AMAZING! Must try First off, every experience I have had has always been a positive. Right now they have a new guy working with tattoos, and he is amazing with customer service. So welcoming. The food is always hot and fresh. I usually go for the beef roti, and my husband goes for chicken roti. Always packed with tons of meat and potatoes. I have never had a bad roti from there and I have been over 20 times. They also have a roti card, and you get stamps and 6th one is free, which is really great. I have heard the goat roti is excellent, but I have not been daring enough to try it yet. I would recommend this place to everyone. read more

Disclaimer: this review only takes the food into account. The place was understaffed (management?) and they did what they could, I guess. Several people had recommended this place to us, claiming it to have the "best roti ever", "authentic Caribbean" and "huge portions". Imagine our surprise opening the take-out containers only to find a fist-sized "large" pumpkin roti and a chicken curry, which was simply a container of rice with an actual handful of potatoes and some chicken haphazardly placed in the corner. Some food! We shrugged, sat down, and began to eat. It took 13 seconds, or 8 chews, for my girlfriend to rush into our kitchen for salt and any hot sauce we had (unfortunately, I cannot comment on D's hot sauce, as it was forgotten with our order). The roti itself was delicious, but it had so little filling that I was essentially eating bread on its own. Yes, I could have soaked it in the flavourless, taupe lunch lady-style "gravy", but I opted not to. The chicken curry was bland (as previously mentioned) and lacking in chicken. It saddens me that this is considered by many to be the pinnacle of Burlington Caribbean. However, we can't be surprised, especially given the amount of low-quality restaurants in a cultural vacuum of a town that is allegedly "the place to be". A star for not poisoning us and another for the lady in the back churning out roti, bless her. Diners, go elsewhere. read more

I had no idea this gem was in my 'hood. Ordered takeout for the fam- 5 people and paid $40. Ordered two small chicken Roti's and a large goat for myself. Also got the jerk chicken dinner for my hubby. Couldn't pass up the vegetable samosas on the menu. Food was delicious, hot (temperature) and everything you want in a Caribbean meal. They were SLAMMED with people and were clearly under pressure to finish up for the day. I went on a Friday night about a hour before they closed. Definitely check this place out. read more

I'm a big fan of the roti at this place. I like roti that isn't too runny, doesn't break into a million pieces as soon as you take a bite and most importantly, has lots of meat and potatoes packed into it. That's exactly what you get from this roti, it's perfectly made. I only gave them a 4 out of 5 because sometimes the line ups are a little long. The staff is friendly but perhaps because there was a long line up and they were trying to rush through the orders I felt a bit rushed when placing my order. I used to have to go into Mississauga or Etobicoke to get my roti fix but from now on I will be going here. read more
