Brisket, ribs, potato salad, Mac n cheese
Skye A.

This BBQ was insanely good! I got the brisket (he threw in some burnt ends which were to die for), ribs, potato salad and Mac n cheese. You can choose what level heat you want your sauce to have- I chose medium and it had a pretty good kick with tons of flavor. The ribs were melt in your mouth, and the rub on the meats was next level. The Mac and cheese was Smokey and delicious, and the potato salad was a great compliment to all the rich flavors because there was a nice hint of fresh onion, and the tiniest hint of vinegar which balanced out the whole plate. This food tasted of love and passion and there was no lack of attention to detail on this plate. It's not only the best BBQ on this island, but I'd be hard pressed to think of anywhere better... And I've eaten some damn good BBQ all over the south!

BBQ Meat Combo
Lila D.

My mother, boyfriend, and I visited D Greens BBQ a few days ago since another yelp review recommended and WOW we are so grateful we did!! We wanted to try everything so we ordered the combo boxes. The meats were SO fresh and perfectly sauced and the potato salad was crunchy and flavorful that is definitely a must try when visiting! If you had to choose one meat option let it be the pineapple sausage... it was amazing perfect blend of sweet and savory! We enjoyed it so much we had to order another combo box to-go for the family to try. We can't wait to come back on our next Kauai visit! The owner, D is so friendly and kind, overall a wonderful experience.

Aloha Yelpies !!! You've been all over the island and tried all sorts of want to be BBQ and wasn't impressed... Right !! I too thought this was it then my wife and I stopped over here to find really great food. The BBQ brisket is off the hook with the medium spice bbq sauce. Then top it off with some slaw and Mac n Cheese you have the perfect lunch or dinner. The owner doesn't hold back on the portion size and puts a ton of pride into shopping for the best quality food for the customer. Be on the lookout for his sauces in the stores ....

D-Green is the man when it comes to authentic BBQ on the island! The ribs had a great smoke ring and a fantastic taste! The chicken was outstanding. It had a great smokey but overbearing flavor. OMG, the BBQ sauce was so flavorful! I had to order some for the house! Bay Area guy making us proud...

I got the brisket platter and he threw in some burnt ends also. My goodness! It was all so delicious! It was insanely moist, full of flavor, and so tender! My hubby got the rib platter and the meat was falling right off the bones as you tried to pick them up! My only complaint would be that I'm a purest and prefer my brisket not sauced. I assumed it would be on the side but it was all over it. I'm sure you could ask for it on the side but I just didn't think to say so ahead of time. Still probably the best brisket and burnt ends I've ever had and we have gone to BBQ joints all over the southern states in the mainland.

Ribs and potatoe salad

The service was great here. The worker was super kind and funny too! Food was really good. Ribs and the pulled pork were tastesy and flavorful. We also liked the potatoe salad as well. My dad also enjoyed the coleslaw and there were outdoor seating to sit and eat. In a Old historic Koloa Town, definitely recommend

Burnt Ends, Ribs and Brisket w Mac n Cheese

The guy running the joint is very friendly and a good sense of humor. I agree with his prices and appreciate that they are low when he could charge much higher. The ribs were huge and had tons of flavor and moisture, the brisket was great and the burnt ends even better. I really liked the spicy bbq sauce. Good stuff

Pulled Pork

Tbh the bbq is not very good. It's not horrible but I wouldn't say it's any special or even tasty if you've ever had bbq in the mainland before. The hot link and the pineapple sausage both need more fillings because they are too soft and soggy right now. The bbq ribs and briskets need more rubbing for flavor and tenderness. The pulled pork is fine but that's all I can say. Overall if you don't have high expectations or expect anything Hawaiian then it's a passable meal.

CLOSED!?

not a good first impression...not open! They do not post any updated opening days/times on FB. Stopped by today Sunday just before 12noon and they are closed! Online it states only open sat & sun 11-6pm.

We sat on the patio by the pool and luckily the umbrella was large enough to block the sun! The food all tasted great. The crab dip with 6 or 8 pieces of toasted focaccia was high quality with real crab not surimi. We ordered the flatbread with chicken instead of pork and it was also very good with a nice crispy crust and moist chicken chunks. The wedge salad was a large piece with crisp bacon, candied pecans, grape tomato halves and a tasty dressing. It only needed some red onion to make it perfect. The calamari were crispy but the portion size was too small and the pieces of calamari were too small so the ratio of crust to fish was too high.

But everything is very pricey and we had better breakfast elsewhere on the island. Lunch was also okay. Nothing to write home about. The one good thing was their Holoholo pie for dessert. Very tasty. We likely never would have eaten here is we didn't have the credit to spend. If you're at the resort and you need something easy, it's definitely somewhere to go but I wouldn't come here besides that. Also, they served me a water with a dead lizard in it! They didn't even care or really apologize about it.

The "wood lanai" vibe and umbrella tables offer the perfect mix of shade and island breeze. The standout discovery was the Kauai beef which is local grass-fed beef. You can truly taste the difference--it's incredibly fresh and light. My younger sister ordered the Kenji-style Loco Moco, and since she couldn't finish it, I happily stepped in. It was phenomenal. My older sister enjoyed the Kenji Burger, though she mentioned it was a bit heavy on the sauce (pro tip: that extra sauce makes for an excellent French fry dip!). I opted for the 3-taco appetizer. While the tacos were a bit on the small side, the oversized side salad helped fill the gap. All outdoor/covered seating like you're in a Lanai. Love that style. Really brings a vibe inside. The Giant TV also helps should the games be on. However the speaker was busted. It was cracking on high notes, and was very, very annoying. I asked the server to please turn it down, and she did, and it still cracked. So management, get that fixed. Kudos to the staff for its kindness. The restaurant is open air and very comfortable. It has a rustic feel. We were seated by the window on a cool, rainy night but were perfectly dry the whole evening. On top of that, our server was very helpful in guiding us to order the right amount of food. He brought us a serving of edamame which is always on the house. The shrimp & pork potstickers were very good. I had the ramen which was tasty, filling and a great choice.
