My friends who live locally love this place, as they get access to a vast range of fresh produce - especially the aubergine, fenugreek, and garlic - yes the garlic is also cheaper here than other places, the coriander and mint are also very fresh and lasts longer than other places I have bought from. You can also get samosa's naan and other classic indian ingredients for all your cooking needs. Whats refreshing about this place is that it exists! Petts Wood has a lot of large franchises, such as Sainsburys, Iceland Morrisons etc...so its good to have a local business around the corner with more authentic produce. Hurrah for local business!

Well we did, and we were lucky enough to get a spot at the bar at the yummy Williams & Brown Tapas Bar. Its cozy and busy with genuinely friendly staff (everyone in Kent seems to be nice!) and a great menu that is heavy on the seafood and updates weekly. The star of the evening was the Galician Fish Broth, which is a stew of mussels, squid, white fish and prawns in a scrummy broth that will force you to order extra bread so you don't lose a drop. We also had the seabass (fantastic) and the salchichon and chorizo plate (simple but good) and the lamb chops (only disappointment, a bit tough) as well as the patatas bravas. We also loved the wine, Vega del Rayo Rioja (2006). Highly recommend, but think about making a reservation if you're visiting Whitstable on a Saturday in high season!

Their juices were amazing and the chai milkshake like a little cup of heaven. The interior decor was instantly recognisable - a massive wall of text telling a quirky story using local landmarks and food. Unfortunately Acanteen moved early this year to new, larger premises. Now it looks like an Ikea showroom. All the rustic charm of the old shop is lost, it's indescribably dark and the simplicity of shared benches with other strangers is ruined. The menu has been broadened to include a dinner menu and fairly bog-standard choices. The atmosphere is no longer laid back as you can feel the stress of the kitchen through the restaurant. I would always have given this establishment 5 stars. Now, I struggle to give it 1.

You can also get the usual tea, coffee and juices as well as shakes and smoothies. They have a good tasty selection for vegetarians especially the wraps which are delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful and don't get annoyed when you spend ages deciding what to have! The prices may not be the cheapest but I think for the portions and the freshness and variety it is pretty good value. It's nice to treat yourself at lunchtime now and again.
