I figured it had been a while since I got a haircut so why not try somewhere new? The shop itself was decorated really well. I made an appointment with Kayla and she gave me a great cut. I needed to ditch the longer hair I had been growing out and get cleaned up for a wedding. Not only did I get a good haircut but she also lined my beard out for me too. This spot was really great. I will definitely be back the next time I decided to get a cut.

Just a straight razor, scissors & clippers, all in the hands of a crotchety old man who couldn't care less about you and your problems (after all, he isn't your bartender). Steven is hardly a crotchety old man. Not by any margin. However still, sitting in his chair feels like the good ol' days once again. He gave me a great, close haircut, even with shaving cream on the fur on the back of my gorilla neck. Didn't even try to engage me in conversation either (a good thing, as I am not his bartender). I actually started a conversation with him and it when as such: Me: I see there's a salon right across the street. Steven: There used to be a barber shop a few doors down too. I have heard of Tonic before and heard great things so I was looking forward to my experience. The salon is on the third floor and has a great amount of space and a great set up. Marissa cut my hair and did an awesome job! She really listened to what I was looking for and what I wanted to change and gave me exactly that. I am so happy to have found Tonic Salon and Marissa!

Boy I don't know what that bride's problem was, but I've never heard of this salon doing on…read morelocation work EVER. Seems like she didn't do all her research and made some assumptions she shouldn't have. This is a small salon with very few stylists, who also do incredible work. I think somehow the bride to be got herself mixed up. Jen is terrific, but doesn't have the staff to handle 14 clients on location. There's only ever two people there whenever I've gone! Something seems fishy about that review..... Meanwhile I've always had a good experience here. Since I've let my hair rest into its natural color for the last few years, I haven't been there for more than a trim, but she would do incredible work on some really vibrant colors for me before that. Jen is very knowledgeable about color, the chemistry of it as well as aesthetics and I have grown to trust her experience when it comes to big decisions like hair color. Great shop! Just wish the hours were a little better. But small price to pay for a little shop with a lot of skill.
