So you pull in off the highway and he's always there. He dresses in dirty clothes, reeks of smoke and his establishment is a perfect reflection of himself. Dirty and ran down. I'm not sure how this guy moves to Hawaii island straight from India, but something is very off about the entire situation. Mr Patel likes to leer at all the woman tourists in a very sexual manner. I see this guy every day as I live in the area and drive right by him. When I say he's outside every day, it's literally just that. Avoid this business at all cost. I would be cautious about his gasoline as everything looks janky and not well maintained. No good

While working the other day in Kealakekua, and upon finishing a job in this town, I knew I had to drive up to the north Kohala side, and was looking at a 1.5 hour to 2 hour drive, so I decided to stop here to get a big jug of water, as well as a snack. The Honalo Shell Food Mart is a small convenience store, located just down the road from the famous Teshima Restaurant. There is a few parking spaces in front of the store, as well as a few parking stalls to the side of the building. The Honalo convenience store features Shell gasoline, and I gotta tell you folks............for a store that serves gas in a remote area, the prices here are pretty good, as I saw a sign for $3.28 for regular gas. When I was returning my rental car, and filled up gas at a Tesoro gas station (near the Costco area), I actually paid a little less at $3.20 per gallon, but considering gas sold at an area where it's remote, the prices for the gas at the Honalo convenience store is not bad at all.

Yes, this is the Big Island of Hawaii! Gas prices are low too, among the lowest in the Kailua-Kona area.
