Hey Chmelnik! I stopped by during our walk through the city. I liked it so much that I even came…read moreback for a second time! To drink: Always my go to a Mojito, what I really liked about this one was that the ice cubs were almost crushed tiny cubs, which added a very nice touch to drink. Another drink I had was sex on the beach, the best one I've ever had. It has a polish touch to it. To nibble on: chicken wings, these wings were the best I've ever had in Europe. Very crisp, dry rub with a hint of spice nice and not overwhelming heat, served with a sauce similar to ranch. We also tried the chicken strips also very delicious, served with a creamy sauce which had dill and some other spices. The gastropub consists of three levels, right when you walk in there is an outside garden area which is great to sit during late nights! Walking through the main doors is the bar, a bathroom. Downstairs (basement) there are seats and booth which has a much quieter atmosphere. Up the spiral stairs you will find a newly renovated area with an additional bar, seating area, bathrooms, and a old school juke box! The lamps shades were hand made, the metal sign on the wall custom made. Very nicely decorated. We had the honor to meet the bar owner himself Jacek, a young man with a true passion. Extremely friendly and very customer oriented! When in Warsaw make sure you take a stroll down Chmelnia and stop at Chmelnik.

Wow. What a pleasant experience I had here from the cocktails, entree and dessert. Absolutely…read moredelicious! I sat at the bar area and enjoyed a Malva Negra cocktail while I waited for my food order to arrive. It was the waitresses recommendation based on my mention of not preferring sweet drinks. The infusion of blueberry and lavender was surprisingly more balanced and didnt tip the scale towards the sweeter side. (So I ended ordering another towards the end of the meal). Now for the food...I was just blown away. I ordered the special which was a large pork chop with some plum sauce concoction that I cannot describe other than being subtly savory and sweet but an absolutely perfect complement to the hefty, juicy and tender bone-in pork chop. I was already full at this point since I finished it all but the waitress did highly recommend the panna cotta dessert which I'm so glad I gave in and ordered it. It was topped with a black sesame sauce with bits of pistachio. Additionally, there was a portion of what looked like/tasted like dragons beard but it added another layer of depth to the already superb dish. The ambiance is a mix of cozy, trendy and elegant which can be more casual or more formal depending on your occasion. I came in around 2pm so I must've missed the lunch rush since I heard this place gets some longer wait times. As for the staff, the waitress and bartender were both extremely attentive and friendly. They both would always check in to see if I was enjoying the food and if there was anything else I needed/wanted. This place came very highly recommended by a local in Warsaw and I experienced why :)

Polish Modern, Hipster, and Vegetarian Heaven? Found this place from Rick Steve's travel book, but…read moreI didn't realize it became vegetarian, but I already sat down, and needed to cleanse my body a bit after weeks of hearty meaty European fare. Real local Poles were eating, drinking, and socializing here too. My young handsome waiter was friendly and spoke English well, he even let me taste two different wines before me settling on a decision. 33PLN/$8.25 Carmelized fried feta with Ramiro peppers, olives, lemon salsa, and seasonings. Fresh, fragrant and delicious. 26PLN/$6.20 Roasted Brussel Sprouts, ricotta, caramelized onions, sun dried tomatoes...also fresh, fragrant and delicious. 24PLN/$6 glass of wine. I highly recommend visiting Poland, you get so much for your American dollar! This was a great meal for only $21ish! I could've easily eaten more, but being my last night In Poland I decided to find some meat pierogis, my new favorite thing. Also in Poland, taxes are already included in the price, and tipping is not required! Though I always tipped a 8PLN/$2 or more if service was good, as it certainly was here.
