I was reminded today why I no longer use large pharmacies to fill my prescription. My doctor sent a prescription to this location. I was told they had no prescription yet and to come back in a hour. After waiting 4 hours I called my doctor and asked them to send it to our small local pharmacy that I've been using for years. Guess what, the small pharmacy called me with in 5 minutes of receiving the prescription to let me know it will be ready in 15 minutes and a reminder that they close early today due to the holiday. This is what customer service is about. Not giving sick people the run around about their prescriptions. Do better!!!! read more

I made a covid appointment and when I arrived they said there were no vaccines available. They said to try the other CVS in town and when I went there they wouldn't serve me because they said I had no appointment. I then tried to book on my phone and the cvs app wouldn't let me make an appointment for the same day. Awful waste of time. read more

I will never use a health care organization that treats me so unimportant that they have decided I'm not even worth answering the phone when I call with a pharmacy question. How could you seriously have arrived at that decision with any sort of optimistic outlook on the impact it would have on your pharmacy business? I will NEVER set foot in one of your stores again until you have a human answer the phone when I call my pharmacist with questions about the medication they've dispensed to me. For 25 years, my family of 8 have relied on your pharmacy and your pharmacist as a valued resource for my family's medical needs. It is a despicable SHAME that you have chosen to put profits over care quality by taking away the ability for the pharmacy staff at your stores to answer calls directly from the patients to which they provide medical services. I have spent 25 years developing a personal relationship with your pharmacy staff, and I do not agree with being reduced to mail order level impersonal robotic service? I don't think so. As a result of your Company's choice to dehumanize us, my entire 8 person family have removed all of our lifelong prescriptions and pharmacy records from your pharmacy and demanded they be transferred to now be filled at the local Ferndale Family Pharmacy located directly across the street from your store. After 25 years of Loyalty to your brand and your store, you have lost our business forever. Your corporate greed has poisoned our relationship. Your area manager tried very hard to convince me that the phone system restriction was needed in order to continue to deliver a high quality of service from your pharmacists. This is obviously a direct lie. It is insulting that you would think that I don't have the critical thinking skills to realize that there are hundreds of local pharmacies who can both answer the phone and STILL turn a profit. In fact, one of them is located directly across the street from your store. How convenient for me. The truth of the matter is that the only pharmacy that can't answer the phone and still somehow maintain their core business seems to be your chain. From that perspective, the explanations and apologies from your area manager come across as dishonest and hollow. The pharmacists at the Ferndale Family Pharmacy are able to deliver the same quality of service that your location used to deliver, but they are somehow also able to have a pharmacist answer the phone whenever I call with a medication related concern. If my local pharmacy is able to deliver that level of service, without issue, then I can only conclude that your company has decided it is more important to save money turning off the phones than it is to continue providing quality care to my family. You should consider changing your company name to CVS Low Budget Pharmacy, because that is the direction that this shift is signaling you are moving. I don't know how you think that having an automated attendant and a "leave a message and we will maybe call you back within 24 hours if we feel its necessary" policy for your healthcare patients is going to be beneficial to you. It is my sincere hope that many of your customers share my feelings of betrayal and disappointment in this matter, and that it results in enough of a loss of pharmacy patients that you have no choice but to reverse your position and reopen your phone lines like the proper healthcare provider you pretend to be. It would appear that your company has gotten so large that you have forgotten that you. are primarily a pharmacy, which is a person based health care organization. With the recent string of bankruptcy in so many of your major chain competitors, you would think it would be a warning sign to you that your profit hungry corporate conglomerate pharmacies are no longer delivering care that your customers consider acceptable. read more

If you're looking for a place to transfer your prescriptions now that Rite Aid is closing look somewhere else. If they run into any difficulty transferring or filling a prescription they just throw up their hands and do nothing. They don't try calling you or your doctor. I've had to go to the store in person several times to check on the status of missing medication because it's impossible to get someone from this store or anyone from CVS on the phone. Since the inability to communicate with me and my doctor is a safety issue as well as a customer service issue I'm picking another drug store. read more

I can't say enough good things about this particular location. The store is always stocked, well organized, and clean. If you visit this location, chances are you will interact with one of their awesome employees named Jake. Nowadays you don't find many employees who are friendly, helpful and care about their customers but Jake does. Also, I'd like to give a special shout-out to the manager here, Mo. He always goes above and beyond to help with anything and makes you feel welcomed. He is one of the nicest people I have met at any store. One of the main reasons I keep coming back to this location is because of how great of a manager Mo is and how awesome the employees are here! read more

Alas Rite Aid had great service and a nice clean store. CVS is the worst. It's impossible to get anyone on the phone and when you go in there is always a line. I had my new pharmacy call to switch over prescriptions and still waiting day four, my pharmacy can't get through by phone either. We're all just twiddling our thumbs. And the store- the carpeting is hideous and makes me want to puke. It's obviously meant to hide dirt, but if you look closely it looks like a bunch of people already puked on it. I don't blame the people who work there, they are obviously understaffed. I blame the corporation, they obviously suck and don't give a crap. Arrived 5 min before close, and upon seeing the cost I asked to use coupons, the lady behind the counter said you can't use both insurance and coupons (who doesn't know that??) to which I said, but I can use either or,correct. The lady responded yes but we don't have time for that tonight. So I left in pain without my meds to come back and pick up tomorrow. read more

Service is no longer personalized. My doctor called Rx's in twice only to have the pharmacy computer notify me that they had the med on back order. Because the system is totally computer operated, I never received my medication because my doctor was never notified to select an alternate medication. Sad. read more

This CVS in particular is my favorite drugstore to frequent. I've been in many other CVS's, but none like this one ! I have always found this place to be super clean, neat and pretty well stocked ! The manager, Mo, does a great job running the store and it's upkeep. There have been many times I go to stores and you see the garbage over flowing outside, sidewalks not shoveled or no salt thrown down ( in winter of course), but that's not the case for this CVS. I think Mo is very professional, dresses nice and knows how to treat people and feel welcome in his store. Also, I can't forget to mention Jake! He is just a teenager, but he has great work ethics for being so young. It's hard to find good, friendly, reliable help nowadays, but with Jake he posses those qualities. He always asks if we need help finding anything when we enter the store as well as greets us and and before we leave he always says have a good day or night. Simple little things like that make you want to keep coming back to the store. Employees can either make or break the store I believe. Mo is doing a great job with this store! I would highly suggest coming to this CVS if you live in the Ferndale/Oak Park or Pleasant Ridge area. You won't be disappointed! read more

Customer service is generally pretty good. Selection and neatness is good. Generally, however, I think CVS is overpriced, and their customer 'rewards' are subpar. My biggest issues are always with the pharmacy. It seems that their training for that department is more than a bit lacking. I'll get told 5 different things about what they can and cannot do with my prescription- it's like all of them have been taught something different. My script is almost never ready on time and, because of the lack of continuity with training, there's usually some sort of "issue" every time I pick it up. Also, they have all these weird rules about pet prescriptions that seem to change every time I go in. My dog has severe epilepsy, so his meds are what keep him alive, but because of the issues listed above, I'm frequently running the risk of missing a dose. They won't even let me manage his script and refills myself. They've never been able to explain why you can't add a pet to your script manager, but it would sure make things easier. The only reason they got 3 stars instead of 2 is because, after dealing with these issues for over a year, I finally contacted the corporate office, which seems to have reduced the frequency of issues somewhat. read more

I've been shopping at this particular CVS for about 6 years. The manager(s) have(has) always been friendly and helpful. As of Saturday, December 31, 2022, I will no longer shop at this CVS for micro-aggressive behavior the CVS worker(s) have displayed or demonstrated during my shopping experience at this CVS. Let me just note: The eyelash strips that cost about $5.19 have sensors. However, the alcohol that cost well over $5.19 have NO sensors. The scarfs, hats, and gloves that cost well over $5.19 have NO sensors. Toys, greeting cards, office supplies, food, etc. that cost well over $5.19 have no sensors. It looks like items that pose a security threat or high theft products are kept at the register. Yet, these eyelash strips that cost $5.19 are NOT kept behind the register. So, there must not be that much a concern. This CVS is located in a predominantly black/brown area, so it seems CVS is making a hasty generalization about the targeted demographic. Most disturbingly, I asked a CVS worker (who has a lighter skin complexion or could pass for a white human) if he could unlock two eyelash strips for me so I could make a purchase. He was unfriendly and irritated that I asked him to get the eyelash strips, which I believe is one of many job duties. Once he unlocked the sensor from the eyelash strips and with no communication or eye contact, he took the eyelash strips to the register, suggesting that I would steal the eyelash strips that cost $5.19 and forcing me to cash out earlier than expected since I was still shopping and wasn't ready to check out. Yet, I felt forced to pay for my items and leave the property. I'm not sure what store has sensors on an item that cost $5.19. It seems to be only this CVS because I've shopped at others and NEVER seen a sensor on an eyelash strip that cost $5.19. It seems that this particular CVS discriminates against minority shoppers. There needs to be a further investigation because I know I am not the only person of color with these complaints. Also, this CVS is in the heart of the LGBTQ+ community in Michigan. If it's ok for CVS workers at this location to freely discriminate against people of color with no consequences, it's only a matter of time these workers will FREELY discriminate other minority communities. I plan on posting this review to other sites. The owners, shoppers, and community need to be aware of what's going on in this particular store. read more

This is the second time that I have gone into pick up a prescription and have left thinking, "Why do I even keep coming here?" This time, however, was the last time. Pharmacy staff are rude and short with their customers and lack any knowledge of customer service. I am done. You lost my business. I'm pretty sure I have every freakin' card for Walgreens, Rite Aid, Savon, and yet not CVS. I come here once a month (gives a meaningful glance) to get everything I need to get me through what is always the worst 48hrs on earth. Salty chips, $1 carbonated waters, cookies, ice cream, and my 800mg Ibuprofen prescription (oh yeah folks, it's real) at the ready, I hunker down for a Gilmore Girls marathon in my jammies and all my CVS products strewn about my bed. I love that this place doesn't judge either. There have been times when I wake up feeling like OH MY...WHAT and I'm not at all prepared so I make a CRAZED mad dash to CVS grabbing everything I can in the feminine hygiene aisle like I'm in the final round on Super Market Sweep!! God bless the usually female cashiers as they see my items, and my dilated pupils, manic hair, and sweaty brow, and put it all together. One time they threw in one of those Ghiradelli square chocolates for me and gave a knowing nod. It's not fancy, but it's clean and serves my needs time and time again. read more

I spend a lot of time at this CVS. It's almost like a second home, so I thought it was time to write a quick review. The store is open 24 hours, so those who need that late night snack have a place to get it. It is clean and well stocked. The staff, for the most part, is friendly and helpful. I chose this pharmacy because it's close but I feel like I need to transfer my prescriptions elsewhere. The pharmacy staff is nothing short of rude each time I go in, even though I'm always polite. Don't even bother asking the pharmacist a question because she's pretty condescending in her tone. I came from the Urgent Care down the street to fill a prescription and was told it would be a few minutes, and I'd be paged when ready. I waited 25 minutes for an easy prescription with 6 people working behind the counter. I was never paged so I finally went up to the counter and it had been ready sitting in the baskets behind the register. I wouldn't have cared that much if they weren't a repeat offender and since having come from Urgent Care, I wasn't feeling well enough to wait forever. Save yourself time and sanity by choosing another pharmacy. The front of the store is fine, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. read more

And other pharmacists who work there play dumb about the situation even though they work in very close proximity to one another and are surely aware of the situation. Like basic cable: 24 hours of pure entertainment. I love the strangeness of this CVS. It is a cross-section of Ferndale, and reaffirms my reasons for loving this city. I go here for various must-haves: bags of almonds, light bulbs, toothpaste, and twizzlers. Mainly for twizzlers. The line moves slowly at times, but you can talk to your fellow citizens. If I had the option of giving this place negative stars, I would. There are never enough cashiers to check people out. But my biggest gripe is with the pharmacy. What a joke. Where do they find these people... Off the street? I can't even figure out the status of a prescription after being on hold for, I'm not kidding, 45 minutes. I used to love this CVS but over the last week, I've realized now bad it's gotten. I dropped off my new script on Monday (actually transferred from Walgreens) physically gave the attendant the bottle. They told me that it would be ready Wednesday....it wasn't. Irritated but ok. Called Thursday and was assured that it was ready within the hour. I work about 30-40 mins away so I decided to go after the gym. When I arrive, I'm told essentially that next refill isn't until next year. Jigga what? I told the young lady that that wasn't accurate because I had dropped off the transfer on Monday. At any rate, I had to talk to the pharmacist who was helpful and gave me an emergency batch. However, where is my original medication?? I'm pretty much done with this location after this fiasco. The only reason I do not give this location one star because the night pharmacist was extremely helpful. 12/24 After getting in touch with the CVS customer service and being contacted by the Pharmcy District Manager, I got my original prescritption. I can appreciate the promptness in getting this situation taken care of. When I went in to pick up the script, the young lady who screwed it up initially darts off to the back. Yeah, not cool. At any rate, I received my medication but I'll be going to another CVS in the future. Rating still doesn't change. read more

So I have basically lived in a pharmacy/CVS due to chorionic health issues. This CVS by far has the BEST customer service in the pharmacy department. They are quick, and very polite and professional. It's almost like I'm in the 1960's where people had actual manners and professionalism to customers. I go out of my way to come here because it's always a breeze and they are very efficient and pleasant. Keep it up! read more

The only thing this CVS has going for it is that's it's open 24 hours. The pharmacy is the closest thing I can think of to the seventh circle of hell. The lines are crazy long and the folks behind the counter are embarrassingly disorganized. Hope you enjoy waiting to wait! All of the prescription pills I've gotten from here have smelled (and possibly tasted like) windex. I'm guessing it's what they use to clean their surfaces behind the counter but it's made me gag more than once while trying to choke down a Motrin. There's always a ton of weirdos in here (myself included, clearly). I work in a hospital so I'm used to people coughing and hacking up stuff at every turn. I've been coughed on more times waiting 25 minutes for a prescription then I ever have been in an 8 hour shift. Cover your mouth people! All this talk about coughing is making me want some hand sanitizer. If you buy it at CVS, expect to pay a little more, as is the case with everything from greeting cards to candy. CVS is a necessary evil if you get any regular prescriptions. Word of advice: if you value your sanity don't try to drop off/pick up a prescription between the hours of 3-7pm. The line usually stretches across most of the store at these times. If you decide to risk it, I sure hope you are picking up some Xanax. read more

Hi I would like everyone to know about my experience I had at CVS yesterday 2/ 22/2014. I stopped by Papa Romano's on 9 mile in Ferndale to pick up lunch. I was waiting so I ran over to CVS to grab some facial tissue. Because I don't shop at that store I was a little lost and wanted to get back to pick up my order. Looking around and wondering where to go this young man by the name of Mr. Jason Mclntosh stopped what he was doing and took me to what I was looking for. With a SMILE! Now this was a big deal to me cause now days employees act like you are bothering them when you ask a question! Mr. Mclntosh ex-plane to me how CVS is is making a lot of changes for the better for customer service. I can say this from experience everyone in that store was helpful and was smiling. I don't live that close to that store but it is worth the drive to spend your hard earned money where people act like they appreciate you being there! I have exactly three expectations of a CVS past the obvious (cleanliness, say): prompt service, stocked shelves, and competitive prices. In a world full of fierce competition from Target-Krogers and Meigreen-Aids, a drugstore needs to hit these marks to keep me as a customer. CVS in Ferndale happens to be closer than its major competitors, so I look for its shelves for relief from cold, flu, aches, and the occasional lack of conditioner emergency. I rarely have a problem finding NyQuil capsules or Advils, and the frequent sales for CVS cardholders keeps costs low. Buy one, get one free or buy one, get one 50% off will often lure me in, exactly the way corporate masterminds hope. I really do need lots of vitamins, really! The store tends to be clean and mostly ordered, though the makeup section suffers after 5:00 PM when the teenage flock of magpies flies off to roost somewhere else and gossip about Hayley's bad nail polish and Janelle's stupid boyfriend. The food section is usually not worth beans on a weekend, whittled down to bare bones and not adequately restocked. If it's 11PM and you need milk or pop, you're pushing your luck here. Another plus: 24 hour store. Cold season knows no limits of misery, and my beau has dispatched me in the midst of his plague-wracked suffering to find relief. Those minutes count. But, Fabulous Ones, CVS is pretty damned lackluster in the service department for unclear reasons. I specifically cite flippant attitudes on the phone from the pharmacy and the glacial cashiers. If they were graded on the Target letter system, the cashiers'd score P for Pokey-Ass-Slow and punted to remedial cashier training after a week. Line-ups build up and snake in a drunken conga at peak times as often as quiet hours. If I knew the source of the slow-down, I'd share the secret. Disinterest? Complicated computer systems? Who knows. But the point of a drugstore is often getting in and out as fast as possible because someone is a) unwell, b) ministering ot the sick, c) a sleepless, cranky zombie ready to unleash undead apocalypse if that Robitussin or Tylenol 3 isn't reaching its intended target 10 minutes ago. Stop acting like this is Forever 21, and please put a little spring in your step, I beg you. I've called the pharmacy on more than one occasion for prescription refills or inquiring about a matter, only to be stuck on hold, run around, or given every answer except the one to the plain, direct question I asked. The pharmacists do good work putting together prescriptions in a timely manner (their turn-around time is prompt), but one or two employees have stuck me on hold and forgot to pick the phone back up in 10+ minutes. CVS' pharmacy gets higher marks than the cashiers. The store would benefit from attention to prompter service. read more

CVS Pharmacies in general have the most painfully slow check-out service on earth. This one isn't too bad, but I've certainly experienced some back ups as well. I also overheard a pharmacy technician bitching to a customer on the telephone because the customer asked her to phone the customers doctor for a prescription refill. What the? Isn't that how your store makes money? My last complaint is something that Juston touched upon which is that the store has an employee standing by the front door as a theft detour-ant. As a customer it's extremely un-welcoming. On the up side the store is always well stocked and clean. I go back cause it's close. read more

This is by far the worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with. No matter what time of day you go, the wait is on average a half hour. They are perpetually understaffed and slow. Nearly every month when my refills are due they are missed or not filled or expired and I am never notified until its too late. I would not recommend using this company if you need any sort of consistency with your meds being ready on time. read more
