Interesting place. More of a store than anything else. Quick tourist stop. Wish they had some swag.

I was especially touched by the exhibit in the back, which explained the Code Talkers language. In addition to using Navajo speakers to avoid detection by the enemy, pieces of equipment were given oblique names as well, like "hummingbird" for airships. The museum has an ongoing outreach for veterans and their families to share mementos or stories about experiences. Oh, and why Eldred, PA for this museum? It used to have a munitions plant nearby: A railroad spur would take the arms to whatever port or base needed them. Plan on a 60-90 minute visit. Limited parking on the west side; more parking on the street.

Its dedicated to the history of WWII and the collection of artifacts and materials from that time period. They do have large collection of badges, insignias and uniforms from all combatants during the war. Eldred was the site of a munitions factory that ran non-stop from 1942 to mid-1945 that produced bombs and shell casings that were used in the war on the Allied side. It has a library where you can go around and check out books and maps if you're really interested in a certain topic. It is a great place to go if you have a Social Studies project to do and you want to go check it out. plus theres a cool tank half-bursting out of the wall, haha.

The museum is small, but absolutely rich with history. It was a Passenger Depot for the Buffalo, Rochester, & Pittsburgh Railway in the early 1900's. The inside of the museum still retains the look of a train station in that day, with most of the rooms still in tact! You can see where luggage was processed, where passengers would have bought tickets, and even sit and wait for trains! There are plenty of train-related relics and memorabilia that fills cases in the museum, decorates the walls, etc. There is a huge model train display in the center of the room, but it was under maintenance when we visited. What adds to the experience here is the train cars you can explore here! I've never been inside of an old train car before, and this place has several you can walk through. Some of them have old cots from where passengers would sleep, ovens and 'kitchens', closets, even toilets. It's super cool to be able to see how people would travel back in the day! I definitely recommend visiting this museum at least once, even if you're not that in to trains. But if you are, this is definitely the spot for you!

I'm so happy they created this and have so many wonderful artifacts from so many amazing comedians over the last century. Comedy is my favorite genre of entertainment and it just seems like everything is so serious anymore. You can't help but smile and laugh while walking through. It's a joy to see the existing and new exhibits every time we visit. There's something for everyone no matter what your brand of comedy is. It's fantastic. There are artifacts like clothes, scripts, jokes, Emmy's, pictures, personal effects, etc. We love them. It makes it real. The Carl Reiner exhibit is absolutely incredible. He was such a comedic pioneer especially in early tv. He also helped create some amazing stars like Dick Van Dyke, Steve Martin and Mel Brooks. His friendship with Mel spanned several decades. I loved seeing the chairs they sat in nightly to have dinner and watch tv. I heard that Mel Brooks donated thousands of things to the museum. I can't wait to see them added to the museum. I was also interested to see Joan Rivers' jokes and memorabilia. She was such a trailblazer and so clever. She did things that woman at the time could not do like host the Tonight Show. She also spoke the truth which was not possible for women at the time. She was hilarious and lead the way for so many wonderful female comedians after her. Loved seeing the old clips, her original and remade joke files. The jokes were too funny. I also really enjoyed the new Lenny Bruce and roasts section in the Blue Room. Lenny Bruce was also a trailblazer. He was similar to Joan Rivers where he spoke the truth and the authorities didn't like it and often arrested him for what they considered foul and indecent speech. His jokes were hilarious and he lit up every room he graced. The roasts section highlighted by the sharp wit and zingers by Don Rickles at the Friars who started the whole genre. It also led to the infamous Dean Martin roasts later on. The interactive exhibits are always fun. It's great to listen to old clips, try some iconic scenes for yourself dnd pretend that you're doing standup at the infamous Caroline's. If you love comedy like I do, you must visit. You will not be sorry. Plan to be there around two hours your first time.

Yes, they closed early because it was New Year's Eve but it was still worth the stop. One of my favorite things about this place is that the museum is free (no ticket required!) which makes it very accessible. The gift shop is also a great size, with tons of Zippo, Case, and regional memorabilia. For example, I left with a Buffalo Bills Zippo! The employees were fine though they were not especially warm or chatty. Luckily the products and history speak for itself. Seeing the evolution of Zippo lighters and learning about the company's roots in Bradford never gets old. So, if you're anywhere near northern Pennsylvania or Western New York, this is a fun, quirky, and surprisingly fascinating stop that's definitely worth checking out!

That said, a little curating and information goes a long way. I understand that the planes are for the most part not stationary, but placing an informational plaque or sign by each plane, stating what it is, when built, and the significance of its type and that specific plane would be a tremendous help, and make any visit more interesting. I have basic and vague knowledge of the different planes; my wife has none. The downloaded audio tour was way lacking and many of the numbered items in the museum were off. And I'd rather just read a sign near an item then fumble around for the right audio track and then have to listen to it. And so the war at home (sic) exhibit was a little slapdash too. Sometimes less is more. There are exhibits of a period livingroom, kitchen, laundry room, etc. But they cram so many period items into each room, it's very unrealistic in terms of giving you a taste of what life was like then. It was as if a collector - or hoarder - filled each room with stuff. Just have the rooms decorated with the items one may have had, and perhaps some explanations of maybe how long one had to work to buy a radio or phonograph, etc. I get it; they are probably doing the best they can with a limited budget. I respect that. But being there are no docents readily available, and even if there were, informative signs near each plane, and maybe a history of the jeep - besides the audio - would make ones visit so much more fulfilling.

Fun family visit. Great for the family. More than you think to explore in the exhibits.read more
