-- I have been a recurring client of SC Beauty Lab, but my recent visit was very disappointing. Despite having made multiple appointments with Carolina in the past and having unique hair, she did not recall my hair needs. I wanted to take advantage of the Back to School discount for a hair trim and wax. I was specific about how I wanted my haircut, just like before, and even showed her pictures to remind her of the length on each side. Unfortunately, Carolina was distracted by phone calls during the consultation. Despite my clear instructions, she trimmed too much hair and gave me a completely different look. Now, I have to adjust to this unexpected change. I am deeply unsatisfied with this experience and will not be returning to SC Beauty Lab.

5/23/15 Just got my color corrected at Kenneth's. Finally…read moregot what I wanted. Just wish I had gone there first and not lost all the extra money (and compromised the health of my hair). ***************************************************************** 4 stars for customer service, but about 2 for results. The results were very pretty, and would be perfect for a LOT of people. But it was NOT the ombre/balayage I asked to have done. If you google Balayage you will see a mass of examples of this incredibly popular technique where certain strands are brush painted with a subtly lighter tone than your true root color. It is supposed to mimic when a child goes out into the sun for a summer and has pretty highlights. I thought I would be the perfect candidate because I haven't had color on my hair in 5 years and I already had natural highlights that this technique could play off. In all the examples I found, NO foils were used, just brush painting and possibly saran wrap to separate any layers for thicker hair. I contacted several salons and asked who could do a balayage with a bit of ombre at the bottom. Not all stylist can do balayage/ombre. I was so excited to get a last minute appointment at totally platinum because everywhere else was booking out weeks for this technique. The stylist at TP gave me her personal cell # so i could send a pic of what i wanted, which I loved. I sent her the pic below labeled "what I asked for". She immediately responded with "I can do that". When I came to my appointment I showed her several other pictures of what I wanted for the balayage/ombre. She said she could do it. Basically I wanted something very natural looking. SUBTLE. When she started using foils I was skeptical because everything I read about a balayage said the reason it is so natural looking is because it's painted on and using saran wrap instead of foils (foils over-develop the hair or something) but I was already in the chair and she said "there are lots of ways of doing a "balayage"/"ombre"... so I tried not to worry too much. I could also feel her doing the foils really high onto my crown, which you also DON'T DO color on the crown with a balayage or ombre. You wouldn't naturally have that much highlighting in your crown if you went out into the sun. It was 9pm when she finished and the color seemed incredibly bright/yellow so I just went home and decided to wash it and style it my regular way the next day to see how it goes... But I still couldn't get past it the next day. I had tiger stripes when I tried to pull it back into a ponytail. And the color was far from subtle, and far from what my ash-blonde natural highlights would look like. I called and spoke to the new manager, Jen. She was great and said I could stop by right away. She looked it over and said a toner might get it a bit closer to what I wanted by taking down the bright yellow, but she seemed to imply that nothing could be done to get me to the effect I really wanted now that all those highlights were in there. So she and the stylist gave me a free toner. She even taught me how to style my natural waves which I thought was very nice of her. Because I was so specific in the treatment I wanted, I should have waited and gone to a place that specializes in it. But the stylist should not have assured me she could do a balayage when all I got was a plain old 90's weaved highlight. Actually it's not even a 90's weaved highlight because she didn't do it all the way to my scalp. And it's not a balayage because there was spiradic-to-heavy highlighting in my crown. So it's some weird hybrid. I think the most upsetting is the color. It's way too bleached out to look natural, and the toner helped but I still have chunky stripes in places. My husband says it looks awesome and it's close (after the toner) to the picture I used as an example. But my friends who are in the know, can tell this is in NO WAY a balayage. Most likely I will be making an expensive color correction trip to another salon to get the effect I wanted. Just stinks because I have already lost most of my natural hair color and natural highlighting. I will have regrowth now which is the whole point of getting a balayage/ombre, so that your regrowth adds to the effect instead of making you run to the salon every 6 weeks. In the end, I bet LOTS of people will like the pic below and want something similar to this because regular weave/highlighting is still incredibly popular and pretty. I have even gotten compliments on it already (from the older crowd)... but it's not what I wanted.
