Well it appears my experience is much better when comparing it to the other reviewers here, but then again our agendas are much different - I purchased this 2" x 18" extender hitch to modify, this piece although was more expensive than I was hoping for it fits my needs to a tee. My plans are not to tow anything with this hitch but to use it for a project I'm working on that will require some cutting, welding, drilling and tapping so I'm super stoked to find this - it's definitely a unique piece. I purchased a 51200 Curt Echo Brake controller from Amazon. I have had nothing but problems with this product since new. After the 30 day return period I continued to have issues. On February 18th of 2026 Curt finally sent a replacement. The replacement failed to work properly. Curt continually blamed my "new" 2025 Ford Ranger and my 2025 camper. At my own expense I had both vehicles tested and both checked out. Then Curt said my truck had a recall. Ford already performed the recall and the Curt Echo still did not work properly. When I asked for a warranty refund, they told me to go to Amazon. I told them I could not because it was after 30 days. Curt does not stand by their products and I was treated very poorly by Curt customer service. I ended up buying and installing a Redarc Liberty Brake controller and it works perfectly. Avoid the Curt Echo and Curt in general. read more

Purchased a curt weight distribution hitch rates to pull 10k pounds (nearly $1,000) to pull our light weight 4000 pound travel trailer. We bought it in 2021, and used it for less than 5000 miles. In 2024 the whole head was destroyed. The ball bearings were broken, the ball bearing case was broken, and the massive metal bolts were bent that heald the head components together were bent. Curt customer service said there was nothing they could do despite the minimal usage and recommended we purchase a whole new head for the hitch (roughly $600.00). Would not recommend. read more

Previously I owned a business that delta with Curt for almost 20 years, I ordered something through Amazon and a piece was missing, the info said to contact curt directly and the customer service has gone to sh**. It's amazing that everyone wants to point to someone else to blame. Good luck !!! read more

I purchased a Curt 13556 trailer hitch for my VX. It arrived with some of the mounting bolts, nuts, and special carriage bolt spacers missing. I called Curt Manufacturing and was told I needed to buy them from the distributor I purchased it from, as they DO NOT deal with, or sell to the public. After a short and somewhat heated conversation, their Customer Service Dept Manager gave me a part number (13556-BK) to give to the distributor. I contacted the distributor I purchased the Curt Hitch from, who said; "we don't sell parts for Curt, only their pre-boxed Package Hitches. I then contacted several other Curt distributors (from Curt's Website), who ALL stated the same thing, "we only sell their pre-boxed hitch, we do not sell their parts". This includes Amazon, AutoZone, eTrailer, and several others, who ALL made it very clear THEY ONLY SELL Curt's pre-boxed Hitches, not their parts. I contacted Curt Manufacturing (877-28-8634 on 8/3/21) about this and was basically told, "WE DON'T CARE" we only sell to our distributors. The real problem here is Curt Manufacturing itself. A very poorly managed/run company, which doesn't actually have any TRUE distributors, only retail outlets nationwide, who sell their "pre-boxed Packaged Hitches" for them. It's also become quite clear, Curt's Customer Service Dept. would rather be rude, arrogant, condescending, and disrespectful to its end-user customers, rather than resolve a simple problem the end-user may have with their product. They've obviously forgotten, or are too arrogant to understand, their "end users" are their true customer base, and not their distributors. This review will remain up for all to see, until after Curt Manufacturing has PROPERLY and RESPECTFULLY contacted me, and how they plan to resolve this problem. We'll what happens. For now, my advice is; stay away from this unprofessionally managed company! read more

I bought 3 trailer ball mounts 45280 from from Amazon .. All 3 were not welded straight and I decided to keep the 3rd one as I was sick of buying them To get a correct one. Only to find out it is bent . I have should have kept the 2nd one..the third one the hole for the ball is off a quarter of an inch. Nick from customer service told me that up to 2° is fine for welding You won't have a problem towing.. It's not fine for me either do your do your job Correctly or don't do it at all.. I do have a little OCD but that's not the point.. I should have bought the one from Harbor freight made in China that was straight.. I hate to say the C word but... Their products are cheaply made and no replacement parts available. I purchased the tailgate/hitch sensor for my pro muliflex tailgate on my gmc sierra. It works as advertised, but the reciever doors catch is thin and very weak and cheap. Snapped off first time using hitch! Duct tape works to hold it closed now. Nothing like a $75k truck with duct tape holding curt parts together. Reached out to curt mfg with absolutely no help. To fix it, I have spend another $150 to replace the $2 piece. Thats what I was told by customer service. Not a happy camper! Disappointed read more

I purchased a Curt hitch for our Chevy Equinox. I did the installation myself in about an hour. The directions were clear and the video was helpful as well. The design and craftsmanship was great. Everything went together exactly as designed. I highly recommend this product if you are doing the install yourself. read more
