Having a fairly consistent penchant and itch for Indian food I've been relying on one south Belfast restaurant to scratch my need, until now that is.
Having a quiet one in doing work I fancied something a little interesting after watching one of the wrinkle faced Ramsey shows on Channel Four. So I thought, why not.
The menu is extensive and brings an interesting derivation from the usual rigmarole, the Massalas, Bhunas and Jalfrezi. This little Malone based restaurant brings a different flavour entirely.
I ordered a duck dish, spiced with tamarind and a raft of atypical spices, not too hot though, served with pilau rice. I also opted for a peshwari nann, why not.
The order arrived promptly, hot and as ordered. They also included a tart onion salsa and mango chutney.... it's looking good so far. The food was exceptional. Well cooked, tender duck breast with seared fat on top. Rich, fruity and well flavoured (if a little bit under-seasoned) it went fantastically well with the sharp onion and sugary sweetness from the chutney.
A really interesting departure from the usual, superb food, cooked very competently with flair and character. Heartily recommended. read more
