    Cool mantle

Definitely a local treasure. The atmosphere is incredible, the inventory is unique with new eclectic fun in all the time. It's also full of the coolest folk, major recommend.

The Curioporium was one of the best, most unique shopping experiences I have ever had. Entering the shop feels like you're entering a haunted house attraction, there's so much to look at and such a wonderful ambiance! My friend and I stopped by on a Sunday and we were greeted by a person running the shop at the entrance, and informed that it was Lantern Sunday, meaning the lights were dimmed a bit more than usual and shoppers are offered lanterns to navigate the shop. We used our lanterns to peruse books, look at stickers and trinkets and pins, and read signs and posters all throughout the shop! The whole shop was a fun exhibit, and pretty much everything decorating the shop inside was available for purchase! I bought some stickers and pins (at very very reasonable prices!) and some patches. I also grabbed some loose leaf tea and a couple of papers to hang up in my room. There was a section for jarring your own wet specimens, which seemed very fun. There was also an area to make intention jars. I certainly plan on coming back, it's such a pleasant little shop!!

If you like, spooky or creepy, this is your place! This whole store is like an interactive museum with creepy and cool artifacts. I could spend hours in here looking at all the unique oddities they have. So many cool things under one roof definitely check this place out. Any purchases here keep the museum/store free of admission charges. Prices are fair. Staff is super friendly.

Without a doubt the best store I have ever been in. As someone who enjoys oddities, curiosities and the macabre this place is perfection. The atmosphere is super unique. We happened to come in on Lantern Sunday which really added to the ambience. You could walk around this store numerous times and find new things you never noticed before. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in CT.

Relaxing is the midst of it all. There's a lot to take in!

This place has been on my list for a while but I haven't been able to visit until yesterday. What a showcase or the weird and wonderful! Visual stimulation everywhere! You can tell the owners take there business very seriously. Bonus! Selene(Sp?) read my tarot cards and I'm very impressed. I don't know how she does it. I guess she's "gifted". Bonus! It's in the same building as Petrol Head Cafe' and Dead Language Brewery. It's all right there!

Are you curious about the occult, Wiccan paraphernalia, seances, dark magic shows or cool interesting things right out of a Stephen King novel? Then this is your destination for all things wild, weird & wonderful in Connecticut! It's so much fun and waaaay better than those faux museums with surly pseudo caretakers. It's like the shop in the series Buffy the vampire slayer...Browsing through is definitely worth a look-see 1920's style! Check it out on Facebook or social media & come see an event or show! Get your All Hallows' eve on anytime of year! Happy haunting!

I had to think for a bit about how I wanted to describe Curioporium, but I eventually came up with a term I like: "Addams Family Chic." This is just such a cool place. Every detail has been thought out in the decor, presentation, lighting, music, etc.. If you're into Tarot cards, you'll find some interesting decks here. It's creepy in a great way. You should stop in for a spell... or a seance ... or potion... or whatever.

Had the absolute time of my (after)life exploring Curioporium! We learned about this shop online and, as a horror fanatic, I knew I had to check it out. We planned a whole day to drive 2 hours each way to see it. Once there, we spent almost 2 hours exploring the shop and marveling over the attention to detail. The scenery, lighting, and sound effects blew me away. I really love the concept of everything that you can see being for sale, BUT that leads me to my one gripe: The pricing seems very inconsistent and unreliable. I had my eye on a specific piece, and asked the employee how much it was (as many displays do not have price tags). She mentioned that she had to send a picture to the owner and they would respond with the price. When she returned with the price, it was a little out of my range, so I decided to purchase something less expensive. When I got home, I was checking out their online shop and noticed the exact piece I was originally interested in purchasing listed for over $100 cheaper than what the owner wanted me to purchase it for in store. Which makes me glad I didn't end up buying it, but leads me to wonder if I paid too much for the things that I did end up buying. Overall, it was a great experience and I look forward to going back if I'm ever in the area again, but I'm hoping there is more honesty in regards to the pricing moving forward.

A great spooky, gothic atmosphere pervades the whole shop. I love that there are so many loving details put into every wall, corner, and piece of furniture. Make sure you look high and low as you walk through the haunted rooms as there are hidden sights up on the walls and tucked away in tight, gloomy corners. I especially love the huge, steampunk seance machine that greets people in the first room. The frozen mermaid in a later room is also very cool and creepy. I recently did one of their Lantern Tours themed around Lizzie Borden and it was great interactive theater. The actress playing Borden is great at going from quiet and ghostly to intense and maniacal. My only concern is that many items don't have a price tag on them, which I think might make some customers hesitant to buy things because they don't know what's within their budget. This isn't really a complaint so much as a concern from a huge fan, because I really want to see the Curioporium continue for a long time.

I LOVE Curioporium !!! if you are into the creepy, dark, spooky, haunted, Gothic, steampunk, and all around morbid curiosity seeker this place is for you. Everything from haunted artifacts to books, candles, tarot cards, and hey I even got a pair of Edgar Allen Poe socks. Anyway, it's a definite must-see if you are in the Hartford area. They also hold cool events that you can find listed on their website.

Each vendor has a cute little setup, which is nice for browsing, but the pricing? Definitely not flea market pricing. As a reseller, I'm always on the hunt for deals, and there just wasn't any room here. Most items were priced at full retail--or even higher in some cases--which kind of defeats the purpose. Yes, some of the stuff is old, used, and vintage-adjacent, but nothing rare enough to justify the markup. If you're just looking for a weekend wander or want a quirky spot to kill time, it's fine. But if you're a picker, collector, or someone who knows the value of what you're looking at... this probably isn't your gold mine. Personally, I won't be rushing back.

The building is HUGE, and literally jam-packed with individually owned sections (I want to say "booths" but that's not completely accurate)... each containing completely different kinds of items. If you're a collector, there's a good chance you'll find something to add to your collection. Be sure to peek at all the photos I added to get an idea of what can be found. Many of the "booth" owners hangs out near their offerings. It felt like a little community in there and most of the people were friendly. We saw 3 dogs, Two seemed happy and friendly, and one was in a carrier with a warning sign, who was miserable and scared and growling (can only assume he was in that too small container because he bites, out of fear). That poor caged dog was the only bad (horrible really) thing. Hopefully someone there will see this review and find a way to give that small puppy a more humane way to spend his day. It really was sad and disturbing. Overall I'd say that The Flea Market at the Crossing is worth checking out at least once, especially if you're looking for an interesting way to spend an hour or two. Bring someone 50+ with you and watch them remember happy times spent with their grandparents. From the glassware and kitchen tools to the kitchen table in my photos, I found myself remembering he things my grandparents chose for their houses. We didn't buy anything this time, perhaps we'll return one day.
