She seemed knowledgeable about law, and asked me to send in my documents for her review, and we could discuss it after she reviewed them. I did this, and left several messages and emails after the fact. As of today, 7/8/26, I have not heard a word. I was ghosted. It would have been preferred to receive an appointment, or any kind of communication explaining that the company cannot take the case, or they need more time, etc. I don't understand why a business would be unprofessional and refuse to respond to someone asking for help, and providing what was requested, especially after a phone appointment and requesting personal documents.

In my opinion they were very dishonest and stole my wife's settlement. She was told to sign a form…read moreand that she would receive $150k. I was already set to receive over $XXX,XXX after paying Cohens And Marzban to represent me in an auto accident. Cohen and Marzban talked me into dropping my original attorneys, BD&J, and sign with them only after BD&J worked hard to get my surgeries completed and kept income coming in to pay our mortgage. Cohen and Marzban claimed my wife was owed because of her loss of consortium and said BD&J never filed that. So they filed a legal malpractice on my wife's behalf. When settlement time came for my accident Cohen and Marzban refused to fight and told my wife and I that if we went to court to fight for my losses even if we won we would lose our house and have to file bankruptcy. I told them that the final payment to me just wasn't enough because I needed at least one more surgery and so Cohen and their mediator apparently came up with an idea to put $150k or more my wife's pocket if my wife signs a form immediately. When we pushed back asking for reasonable time to read over and understand Cohen said he has a fiduciary responsibility to look out for his clients and he would never do anything to jeopardize that. When it came time to disburse settlement Cohen claimed he never promised my wife a settlement from her case. Instead he took the entire lien amount that BD&J had in the case which was what Cohen said he would use to pay her $150k, but she had to sign immediately or the deal would be off the table. PLEASE, anything these two attorneys say to you force them to put it in writing. In fact I stopped taking their calls after Cohen lied claiming he never said he would pay my wife her settlement and instead took it all. Make them write anything they claim. And ALWAYS have another attorney review these attorneys contracts settlements, agreements and disbursements. I had to fight back against their BS disbursement sheet, they went through three of them because they were trying to hide money. I found an additional $2k they tried to take as fees and was able to recover that. We are still owed $14,000 from my disbursement that we showed them and they had no answer for yet still never paid that either. And the state bar is a complete joke. They literally made up reasoning for the attorneys thefts. If I could give a negative stars rating it would be a -5 stars.

After searching Yelp I called a few law firms and was told that they were busy with much more serious cases. I couldn't believe an attorney would actually say that. On one occasion, a Seal Beach attorney told me that the two cases he was working on were more on the million dollar value range and that my situation would be too time consuming for him at the moment. I eventually called and spoke to Stephen Rinka. He was personable, heard me out and really made me feel understood. He didn't make it about what his firm could get out of it, he was patient and really took the time to hear everything I needed to say. Throughout the process, if ever I had a question or concern, I emailed or texted and always received a prompt response directly from Stephen. With The Rinka Law Firm you feel like you really have a friend on your side. I don't post many reviews, this one is long overdue. I kept telling myself I really wanted to sit down and take my time to leave an honest review sharing my great experience with this firm, but life gets in the way. Throughout what I thought would be a draining process, Stephen took control and always kept me updated. Felt like I was handing over my burden knowing it would all be taken care of. When we finally came to meet in person and I was fearful of facing my previous employer, Rinka made sure I knew it would be okay. He was aggressive with the other party and got his point across in defending me.
