I attended a spanish language course in this school. It started the 5th of December 2016 and ended up the 30th and was initially meant to be a 60 hours course. The price is 550 USD plus 50USD for the course enrollment. I had to be evaluated first to determine the level of my spanish and it had been statued I was a "Nivel 5". Because, apparently, I was the only Nivel 5 in that moment, I was informed that my course would have been cut from the original 60 to a new 30 hours. Yes, they said: "you should have read the contract you signed when you filling the form for the evaluation..." Why anyone at the reception - who I have been asking information the day before - have mentioned it?!
Unfortunately, I had already paid for my course.
So then, the day after I had my first class with one of the two teachers who I have been assigned. The approach was nice and the didactic clear and effective, from the beginning. The only problem I and the teachers had to deal with was about the time of the classes. So we decided to ask the staff to modify it accordingly to the availability of the premises. We could not understand why, although most of the rooms were available during the morning every day, that change has not been even taken into consideration and I had to continue having my classes everyday from 1pm to 4pm, with an usual temperature of 30/32 degrease, every day!! I I think this issue affected the results of my learnings because all my days were cut in two, and the only possibility left to study and make some homework was the weekend.
Also, I was told I should have attended to one of the events organised for the pupils to socialise and speak to improve my language skills. I chose to join the group going to visit the Villa Ocampo, in the village of San Isidro. It was the hottest day ever, which started with an horrible misunderstanding: I got confused with the time and instead to be at the school at 2pm I went to 12pm as "dos" and "doce" in Spanish sounds very similar and there was not any written mention of that excursion. Anyway, we met the guide at 2pm and left the school to get a public bus, because we were just 4 for people. After two hours under a torrid sun we got the place and discovered it was closed for the day and the day after.
The school is located in a barrio called Once, not the safest. The building looks a bit rough, interiors are not cozy.
The lack of empathy shown by the staff left me uncomfortable and upset, many times.
I just went on with my classes because of my teachers, who did a fantastic job. They were well prepared and keen on my learnings. I really appreciate it! read more
