And what baffled us is the price increase for that tiny storage!!! Like seriously?!!! However, It took us a few minutes, got it done... and moved to another location. Also, some customers need to stop parking in front of cars that are already parked in a divided parking spot.

In the course of 2 years, company decided to raise my agreed rental rate 3 times for up to 50% more than initially agreed. After confronting the manager, I was told this is out of their hands since corporate decides when and how much the rental increases occur. Instead of moving my business elsewhere, manager offered a smaller unit at a much lesser rate, taking into account that "rate will not increase for at least a year and even if it does, increase will be marginal". Trusting this company I decided to go ahead with the downgrade. To my surprise, less than 4 months later I receive ANOTHER RATE INCREASE NOTICE!! This time the increase would be for more than 50% starting next month. This increase like all the others happen for NO JUSTIFIABLE reason. As expressed by many others, this company has a long history of PREDATORY BILLING PRACTICES. They purposely wait for you to be settled with your storage to increase your rates, not by a marginal amount but increases of over 50% of your agreed rental agreement. I appealed this with their superiors in writing but they failed to even respond. I am now in the process of starting to take legal action against this company and needless to say I recommend everyone to stay away from this corporation completely!

Storage is already insanely high to begin with, and then you keep increasing? It's a storage unit, not an apartment. It's just disrespectful and predatory. Upon move out, I found that they charged me for an additional month and refused to prorate or refund me for the month I would not be there. Lastly, during move out I discovered mice in my belongings! I had no mice prior to moving in, yet my unit was littered with mouse droppings and my belongings infested. I told on site mgmt and was given a dry apology. I'm so happy to be moving out but am now terrified to relocate my belongings for fear of rodents hitching a ride. I saw big metal boxes throughout the property, but I had no idea they were industrial rat traps. I have never dealt with rodents, so I didn't know what they were until someone else told me. The least they could do is prorate me for the month; especially now that they have given me mice and God knows what else is living in my boxes I reached out to corporate and was given the "looks like you've been told we don't prorate or issue refunds. That's why you should give us notice prior to moving out". Which I did. Notice was given. Just because you don't do refunds or pro-rates, doesn't mean you can't. They're just greedy and predatory. Grasshopper Movers is HANDS DOWN the best moving company I've worked with. Maybe because they are local and small, or maybe because they're just committed to providing the best service possible. EVERY single person I dealt with at Grasshopper has been customer focused and professional. They are clearly a company that is focused on meeting customer needs versus up-selling or lengthening the process. I would have even considered myself a not ideal client in that I contacted Grasshopper last minute and used them for storage far longer than anticipated AND asked for delivery and received it within 2 days of the request (meaning they didn't get to milk more money out of us just because they could.). DC is filled with lots of competition and these folks are just old fashioned in their approach - they have pride in their work. Finally, they also had the best price based on my extensive research (which I do professionally). If only they provided services outside of moving and storage - housekeeping? mobile phone service? Wifi & cable TV? OK, now I jest, but you get my point. Call them and sleep well. (FYI: I rarely write these because I seem to not have time, but I was motivated because of how awesome they all were to me - it's the least I could do.)

I don't know how long that roach had been there but I was appalled. Before I continue with this recent horror, let me update you on the matter from earlier this month. I spoke to the temporary manager and then the permanent manager Carlton. All I was offered for my initial review was $25 off my bill. Carlton was courteous, responsive and it appeared that he was doing what was within his power. He also assured me that the pest control vendor would be coming to retreat the facility. Now that that is out the away-- this recent issue. For readers' awareness, ExtraSpace Storage staff are not allowed to enter into the storage facilities. Nonetheless, I found a roach in my storage unit and I was enraged! I've spent over $500 to get the space organized and get everything off of the floor. I highly recommend that anyone who uses this facility without any alternative options thoroughly clean their area and purchase storage options to keep their belongings off of the floor. I'm really upset and worried about what I may bring into my home thanks to my time using this storage facility. I don't want to bring roaches or other vermin into my home due to my need for temporary storage. I would not recommend using this particular facility. Move out if you can.
