Oh la la! The restaurant week special made a three course meal here very affordable. Even though…read morethis restaurant is located inside the mall it still has a nice setting inside and looking outward you can't even tell its part of a mall. The first course consisted of a mixed green salad with walnuts and a light vinaigrette. You could get it vegetarian (without) or with a slice of pate and a gerkin (tiny pickle). The pate was very good, flavorful enough to stand on its own but complementary to the salad. The walnuts gave a good hearty boost to the simple salad. The main course was a choice of mozzarella filled ravioli in tomato sauce or a rice pilaf with delicious sliced duck. Both were delicious. The duck was a little salty but the roasted portion on the bone added great presentation and was crispy and tender. Finally a creme brûlée or dense chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream were offered for dessert. The creme brûlée was much better with a crispy top. The brownie was a little bit like fudge and the pistachio ice cream was fake almond flavor. Service was good and the wine selection seemed quite abundant. Seems like a nice place for a fancy meal.

Second meal we've had as part of Restaurant Week and this one was much better. The purpose of…read moreRestaurant Week is to showcase your place and Le Vin did just that, presenting good salads, duck or ravioli as a main dish, and creme brûlée or brownie/ice cream as desert. Each item on the menu was well prepared and tasteful, although the ice cream did seem like it may have been packaged pistachio instead of something made at the restaurant. The staff here was pretty good as well, making sure to offer things like bread or bottled water, instead of just dumping them on you and hoping to lure you into paying for what looks to be free food. Next door there is also a patisserie that had a lot of good-looking snacks. Maybe we'll stop next time we're ok Barra.

This restaurant is located just around the corner from lots of noisy bars and restaurants. It…read moredoesn't look like much on the outside, but the inside is comfortable and has great views of Pedra da Gávea. The first floor is mainly for relaxing and watching soccer with a beer, there is an upstairs which has tables and is better if you're going in for a meal. When I first read the menu I wasn't sure if it was French or German, and quickly learned that the confusion stems from the fact that the chef lived in Alsace, France for 25 years (she speaks fluent French, and will probably come to your table to say hi) and that region is famous for its mix of German/French cultures. My friend and I shared the bolinho de queijo especial francês which was delicious and came with a spicy pepper jelly. We also shared the Filé Wellington, which is intended for two people but could probably serve three. The Wellington was perfectly cooked (Gordon Ramsey would be proud) to medium-rare. It had foie gras on the inside, which really added to the flavor. This dish comes with a salad, French fries, a zucchini thing (I'm sorry but I don't remember what it was called, but it was delicious!), and garlic rice. Normally I don't like rice but kept eating it this time... They also have an excellent selection of beer, including lots of Brazilian craft IPA. If you're a beer fan, you could easily stop in and just have a brew or two and relax. Overall I was very happy with the experience and will definitely go back to try some of the other menu items - the sausages sound really great, it's hard to find good German sausages around here.
