Yes, they are not exactly cheap, but I have noticed their focus and determination on motivating these children. We missed a week due to an death in the family and the Master Leach called to make sure everything was okay, very sweet! I cant say I know much about karate but considering the awards Master Kim has up and how happy my daughter seems to be at the end of her classes, I am very happy with this place.

You will not learn legitimate self-defense here. The "self-defense" techniques are against opponents that offer little to no resistance. Sparring is light to no contact. I'd say most of the people there have never taken a real punch or kick and have never been in a real fight. ZERO emphasis on ground fighting. Promotions are not based on merit. As long as you pay the fee you'll pass the test. In 5+ years I NEVER heard of anyone failing. Stick around for 4 years and you'll be a "black belt", whether you are skilled or not. I've seen kids under 10 years old get a black belt. 10 YEARS OLD!!!! What a joke. When you get higher in rank they'll pull you from your training in class to teach little brats that don't know their forms and don't want to be there, and for free no less, while you are paying expensive $$$ to train there. It's not cheap. If you are looking for legitimate self-defense look elsewhere.

His skill, patience, and dedication to his students are unmatched. I hold him in the highest regard and deeply regret not being able to continue my training with him. Sifu Daniels is truly a master of his craft. I remember Sifu telling my class that we should not brag about our practice and if he ever heard that we were bragging (think Johnny Lawrence in the karate Kid 1) that he would take away our rights to wear of Fire Dragon School T-shirts. He would tell us to leave our egos in the glove compartment of the car when we got there. This really resonated with me. My brother thought it would be funny to grab me and put me in a bear hug, saying, "come on, let me see some of your stuff." I refused many times but he persisted and was taunting me. Finally, to get him to stop, I used a move that Sifu Daniels taught us in class and got out of the bear hug quite effortlessly, stunning my brother. He signed up for classes right after that and became a student of Sifu Daniels also. We eventually both had a good laugh about that time.

The first is a southern Chinese Kung Fu style known as Hung Gar and the second discipline is boxing from Thailand, known as Muay Thai. No-matter what your reason for training in the martial arts, visit us before you make your final decision. See how our classes are conducted, observe a class, and talk to the students. You will find dedicated, intelligent, highly motivated people who are disciplined, respectful, and very serious about their training, but enjoy a good laugh along the way. You will see that they are highly skilled in empty hand, blade, contact weapons, and firearms. You will also see a sense of friendliness and brotherhood that is a rare commodity in most schools.

Let me start by saying, I have tried so many outlets to assist with my fitness and health…read more It started with Ballys, then went to LA fitness Lucille Roberts Planet Fitness Curves The Kroc BLINK back to Planet Fitness various aerobic sessions (Zumba and Tabata) and finally neighborhood walks/jogs. None of these things kept my attention. I got bored after about two weeks. I am a quitter and I am someone that does not like challenges. I love my comfort zone and I love to eat my feelings. It's what I do. Stout has changed that! My very first class, western boxing, taught by Ty. I don't know a thing about boxing. I do not watch boxing, I know some big names but I do not watch. So I show up at 5:20pm, I'm just standing there, ready to run out (again, quitter). He walks over, introduces himself, and tells me to warm up with shadow boxing. I said I don't know how to shadow box. He gave me the option of jumping rope or jumping jacks. I didn't want to do that, I don't know why but I didn't. he said you got this. I immediately said, ya know what I do. Stoutpgh and their staff is not intimidating AT ALL. It may feel that way if you have never stepped in the facility or if you are thinking about previous Arts schools and maybe they were jerks. Everyone is helpful, constantly guiding you and correcting you with positive reinforcement but also praising you when you do something good! I do love hearing "Good Kia" or "Nice Kia" or "Great job Kia" Class two, it was a bag class. I met Brody, he introduced himself. I stood in front of the heavy bag confused. before I could even get his attention, he came over and assisted me. I walked out of that class throwing 1, 2, and 3 (didn't know what a 3 was), and a switch kick. NICE! I went to class three, signed up that day. Zack, said you have another free class. I said, I don't need it. lets get this party started!!! I want you all to know, I am 44, 4'11, and 263.7lbs. I do not feel like the "fat chick", or the "old chick", I feel like a person. Stoughpgh let's you be a person, not a label. Many times we think we have to get in shape before starting something to get us in shape. How bass ackwards is that??? I didn't think Stoutpgh was for me, I didn't think I could do it. Boy, was I wrong! It is for me, it is for EVERYONE and EVERY BODY!!!! Again, EVERY BODY!!!!!! I look forward to class, actually look forward to going. I am so surprised by that, haha! Staff Cleanliness Availability of Classes Prices Oh last thing, I am funny about what I eat throughout the day. I know I have to train so the idea of just eating anything, I stopped that. I know what will make me feel sluggish, bloated, or just gross. I care about what I take in so that I can be productive during class. No one said anything to me about how/what to eat but it's like my brain clicked on a light that has clearly been dark for a long time.

My two young children have been going for about a month now and truly love it. They get so very excited when they have classes. My son was very nervous when he first started. It took a couple of times to get use to it. I have seen him become way more confident since starting. I am excited to watch them grow and push themselves to learning new things at Stout. If you or your children or both have been looking to get more active or challenge yourself, I highly recommend Stout. It's for all levels of experience. Go check it out and you won't be disappointed!

I typically go at times when the Mortland offices are closed so I don't have that problem of running into patients or the staff of Mortland. The place is convenient, clean, and offers a variety of machines - ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, weight machines, free weights, exercise balls - they have it all for a cardio or strength training workout. The cost is a little pricey but it's in Peters so I guess you should expect that. It's $50/month with a minimum of a 6 month committment. So you have to pay $300 at the time of signing up plus a $25 deposit for the FOB key to enter at times when Mortland is closed. You may be able to get a 3 month committment b/c they offer that to college students - and then only pay $150 (plus $25 FOB deposit). Even with the price, it's the convenience that really got me. What's the point of joining a gym if it's not convenient?!?! This way I can't use the, "It's so far" excuse to get out of exercising...I use other ones but not that one :) The hours are 5AM - 10PM, 7 days a week.
