We were surprised by our friends who took us here to have crêpes. Crêpes are such a nostalgic meal for me so it was a pleasant surprise stepping in and dining here at Crêperie Roland.
There were eight of us dining inside. The restaurant has cozy indoor dining with several tables and minimal decor, just a typical neighborhood spot. There's seating outside. Service was pretty fast and efficient! We appreciated the small talk in English with the staff, but are lucky that five of our group are French so ordering and all that was easy. You do order with the staff but pay up front.
Savory galettes and sweet crêpes, ah I'm a fan of both. But for dinner, I had the Nordique, which came with smoked salmon, spinach, and egg. It was a generously sized galette and so light, the filling was perfect, everything was fresh, and it tasted great. I'd order this again! For dessert, I shared the Crêpes Suzette. It was my first time trying it and it was so good! A very light yet sweet buttery crêpe swimming in orange juice and zest. You can taste the zesty orange and the liqueur that goes on top is a nice flavor addition!
Historical Rouen has plenty of eateries left and right. If you like crêpes, I suggest trying Crêperie Roland off Rue Saint Nicolas. A popular spot amongst locals and tourists. read more
