I have come to know la Laïta very well. She seems to be everywhere I turn in Morbihan. Her…read moremeandering ways throughout the region of Morbihan kept me mesmerized and always on the lookout for her. As my wedding month continued, a birthday celebration for my mother-in-law brought us to a place where I could be up close and personal with la Laïta for the first time! She had me. Even if you aren't hungry, come here for a cold cider to enjoy the natural beauty that la Laïta has to offer. Listen to the birds, watch the kayakers come and go or simply enjoy the ebb and flow of the tide. Across the water from the crêperie, locals enjoy each other's company and nature with a picnic on the grass. Directly across the water are the ruins of the Abbey of Saint Maurice, protected by a gated entrance painted in, what I like to call traditional "Brittany blue". Although not identified as a traditional color, it is the soft blue that is commonly seen on many homes across the region. In its past life, the restaurant was a ferryman's house. As such, it has room for guests to dine outside on the covered terrace or inside, in the event of rain. Our group of 15 sat on the terrace comfortably. Family owned and operated, service is authentic and efficient. Can I just say how amazed I was at their prices! Soooo reasonable. For our large party the total came to around €300. For 15 people! This is with many having 2 crepes, dessert and plenty of cider and or wine. I was impressed. Especially at the quality and freshness of the food. When in Bretagne it is always a good idea to enjoy the fresh seafood. My smoked salmon salad and seafood crêpe, fondly known as la Laïta (petite Noix de St Jacques, Crevettes, Calamars, moules, sauce à la Crème et tomato) were excellent starters. They were promptly followed by a chorizo & raclette crêpe, topped off with a Caramel à la crème crêpe. I kinda pigged out. But hey, crêpes are crêpes and that's how you're meant to enjoy them. There's ample parking in front of the restaurant. Although a little off the beaten path, if you make the effort to find it, you will happily bookmark in order to return again.

Crêperie de Saint Maurice - It just happened to be low tide when we dined. The Abby is across the way.
