Just wanted to write you today to let you know how unprofessional one of your owners is. We booked…read morea trailer online back in March at Marmora KOA , Ontario. This is our second year at Marmora and the first time we had booked a cabin. We got there sat aug 18 at 3pm to check in and the manager advised our trailer was actually already taken. I showed her my confirmation and she seemed confused and continued to try her best to help rectify the situation. She told us to wait a few and she would go and see if she could find another trailer. She came back and advised all trailers were taken except for 1 older one and she would discount the price (120 instead of 160) as it was quite an old trailer. We decided to make the best of it and stay as we were already there and had packed everything we needed and had also driven 1.5 hours to get there. The manager mentioned there were a few issues with other customers as well and that sometimes when you book online doesnt match up with their system at Marmora. As we were waiting for our trailer to be cleaned another customer came into the office upset and advised that someone was already on the site they had just given her. And to top it off the manager then started telling us it was her day off but everyone had quit the day before so she had to be there (trying to make us feel bad but thats bad business in my opinion, it made me think, why did all the staff quit?!?) Needless to say it was upsetting , everything seemed so confused and we were just caught in the middle. Finally around 4pm-430pm our trailer was cleaned and we were able to have access. We got there and realized it was a very old trailer and didnt say rental on the side like the other rentals did. Trying to stay positive we unloaded our stuff and the manager came over to check on us. She said she couldnt find any keys for our trailer so we again decided to just make the best of it and make sure one of us stayed around the trailer over the time we were there as we could not lock it up. We ended up having a pretty good time swimming, rental bikes, fires etc. despite the mix up, and then the owner ROY decided to come over to our site as we were packing up Monday Aug 20th and he was NOT happy. He started out by saying "how many people are on this site?" We told him 7 as we had the trailer plus the manager advised my sister (who had also booked a tent site for the same time) to go ahead and tent on the same property as our trailer. The owner than said okay 7 people so which one of you gave us a negative review on facebook (note 3 of the 7 of us were kids and the owner did this in front of them also) My fiance advised ROY that it was him who left the review on saturday while we were waiting on a trailer to be cleaned as ours was taken, so yes we put an honest review on the facebook page as it was and still is the truth. Roy (the owner) started saying so many people now a days complain before they have a chance to fix the problems and he gave us a deal and got us in another trailer , basically he was upset we had put a negative review. He was RUDE and didnt want to listen, only yell at us. I was soooooooooooooooooooooooo upset, I was shaking I was so upset, I was shocked he was sitting there yelling at us like that. I honestly thought he was coming to appologize for all the mistakes when I first saw him coming over but I was very wrong. He was coming over to tell us how mad he was that we put an honest review on facebook. I have never been so upset, like I said we made the best of it and were actually just gonna leave the situation alone until the owner decided to come over as we were leaving and act like that. I decided after that scenario that you should really know whats going on at your parks (which are normally really great). I have attached pictures of what we were suppose to have and what we ended up with. The trailer they ended up giving us should not be rented out to anyone, yet brought to the scrap yard. Its a 1970's trailer that is falling apart, its mouse ridden and had none of the amenities we expected. We left most of our belongings in the car as we didnt want bugs/mice getting into it. Just thought you should know as this situation made it so we will NEVER return to Marmora KOA. I hope no one has to be treated like this while paying almost 300 dollars to stay in a mouse ridden, old trailer with a cruel owner. We also spent other money there on rental bikes , $40 fire wood and still ended up being treated horribly by the owner, who was offended about an honest review. Shame on him! Below is what we ended up paying for the trailer , which honestly needs to be on the NON rentals as it had mice feces everywhere, no plates or bowls , only a few utensils, no kettle like I had expected (although the manager did make sure she got me one) , i would have rather slept in a tent and paid 40 dollars except we didnt have a tent cause our reservations were for a trailer.

There is also a small store in case you've forgotten essentials, or just want an ice cream! Check in was easy, the routes to the sites are marked clearly and plenty of space between sites. Washrooms are decently cleaned and throughout the park. Plenty of activities to do - rent kayaks/canoes (including life jackets) and enjoy a fun day on the water while trying to catch the pictographs! Lots of trails to take in the views, some beach areas for the kids to splash and play as well. The park rangers do a good job of patrolling to make sure no issues.

We did not realize we had to drive through the park to a parking lot and then find our way to the company/gift shop beside the visitor centre. By time we found where to go, we were about 15-20 minutes past our time. Colour me shocked when they would not even entertain the idea of letting us go on another boat if there were empty seats available. 10 minutes in advance of this is not enough time. It should be clear for those who have never visited Bon Echo that you should plan a half hour in advance by time you pay your park entrance fee, park and give yourself enough time to hike the many trails around the park if you get turned around and go to the wrong place (we went to the canoe rentals first by accident, then the visitor centre, and then the boat company's gift shop who own the tour). I am disgusted that they would not even try to work with us. We weren't asking to displace anyone else or block other last minute people from purchasing tickets. It was just to fill seats that were going to be empty. Their response was, "sure, you can go later this afternoon but you have to pay again". So ultimately we drove 5 hours from Hamilton to give you $160 for nothing. I should make this extremely clear that this is in no way Bon Echo's fault, it is the private tour company operator.

Nice spacious beach as well. Con: Most features of the park are not open until late June. Most of the electrical sites are really close together and not private. Loss of stars on this review mostly comes from the over baring park ranger patrol coming around every hour even during the day and reminding us every night to keep the noise down regardless of the fact that we were making ZERO noise. Sitting around talking at the fire apparently is loud even though it's before 11pm in a radio permitted zone. I've been to many provincial parks and never had a problem. It was honestly annoying and totally unnecessary!

Way too many campsites crammed together side by side, with nothing but a thin layer of trees between each site. No privacy whatsoever, and a lot of noise at all hours of the day. 3 sites down a party went on until 4 AM, while 2 sites over a baby cried all night. I got up to use the restroom at 4:30AM and had to wait in line. It was that busy. Walked the park for half an hour the next morning and never found the lake, nor did we see any large hiking trails although the map claimed to have a few. Just encountered hundreds of campsites, parents screaming at their kids, and well, kids running wild all over the place. There are a lot more parks in driving distance with actual wilderness to be enjoyed without feeling like you're living in an apartment building with no walls. Never again.
