Cute little winery nestled in the Hamptons. It was super busy day. We had no reservation and was told it'd be a 45 minute wait. Honestly, it was less than 45mins for them to seat my party of 7! The decor was super cute- rustic garden chic. Good place for your instagram photo op! I highly recommend the sparkling rose flight which allows u to taste all 3 sparking rose they offer- cuvée merlot was a favorite! I had the lobster roll for lunch, I was starving so it was delicious but nothing to really rave about. Their potato chips are home made, I believe, and it's pretty good! Cute summer winery. Went with a few friends and family, the staff was super patient with us ! Very sweet. We moved tables due to the sun. We got a bottle and another flight when we sat at the benches. The breeze felt amazing and even though the weather was extremely warm, staff continued to provide us cold water! We ordered most of the light eats on the menu, my favorite was the lobster roll. I also really enjoyed the toast with tomato. It was perfect for a hot day but the toast was .. extra crunchy haha We will absolutely be back and Recommend for a nice afternoon outdoors and some light eats! read more

I first heard of the winery when i accidentally met the founder and owner a few years back. We had a conversation while traveling on the North Ferry. Croteaux vineyard creates only rose wine and it is some of the best rose wine on the North Fork. Channing Daughter and Wolfer on the South Fork are good too. I mean to say... that this is a decent rose for Long Island. It is not a great wine. Far from it. Acidity is a bit too high for my liking. It is, however, more than drinkable. I enjoy the merlot rose better than the cab franc. Yes, the vineyard is quaint and can get very busy. It is in a residential neighborhood in Southold. Food is very minimal. Service and ambiance is good. No big busses of bachelor or bachelorette parties. Parking is minimal. A fairly local crowd mixed in with seasonal renters kind of crowd. No day tripping August people. It seems the gentleman I met is no longer the owner. I believe it has been sold once if not more since he founded the winery. As I was informed by the friendly young lady who sold me two bottle of rose in their gift shop... the winery is now owned and operated by women. Ok. That is fun but who cares what gender owns and operates the winery. One only cares if the wine is good or not. read more

Bathroom inside the very small gift shop. Another mobile air conditioned bathroom is located in the green grass area behind seating between vineyard. The five stars is for the lovely vibe, service and food, not the wine itself. We arrived a little before 1 pm on a mid-May Saturday. the parking lot was just about full, and the place was hopping, yet somehow there was a two top for us. Two Adirondack chairs and small tables to hold our food and wine. If you are willing to use your imagination, it's easy enough to imagine you are in Napa, or in Provence, as the host intends. A much different feel comapared with the other NOFO vineyards. I ordered two glasses of Rose, the Sauvage for La Portena, and the 181 for me. Our food began arriving before the wine. Don't miss the olives - the paring of plump meaty Cerignolas in red, green and black with Provencal herbs is inspired, and it's a generous portion. Lobster sliders came on King's Hawaiian buns, the meat fresh and tasty. After the two five star snacks, the crostini were a slight disappointment, a nice tomato confit but I think the toasts came from a package - still a generous portion that will help process your wine. I'm not a big fan of Rose, but I thought the Sauvage was the better of the two. A bit more fruit, a bit more nose. I found the 181 a bit thin. For a second round, I opted for a glass of the Sparkling Jolie, made from Cabernet Franc. That was the ticket, lots of flavors, lots of bubbles, and an elegant presentation in a beautiful glass. I thought the music was just right, in a sort of Afro-Caribbean vein, not too loud. We went home with a bottle of the Jolie, and a bottle of the Sparkling Merlot. I would recommend coming during the week, when it's probably not as crowded and not making any plans for the rest of the day - we had a reservation elsewhere to attend, or I would have stayed put. If it's a nice day, you will not want to leave. read more

I want to give this place more stars because I love the atmosphere of the garden but that's really the only thing drawing me back to Croteaux. I get that things are definitely hard during covid but the staff was straight up rude and we didn't get waited on for 20-30 minutes. When we would ask for things we would get eye rolls and "you're not my table but I guess" so it made the experience really unpleasant. The tastings are okay, 3/6 of the wines were good in my opinion - just make sure you like rosé (and dry rosé). Snacks are pretty lame, and way overpriced. The tomato confit and bread was the only thing I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall it's super expensive for a meh experience. read more

I have to boost up my rating for Croteaux after a lovely visit this past weekend. The spot is just gorgeous with its dangling leaves and gravel pathways. There are lots of spots for shade as well as sun. I really liked many of the wines. I definitely suggest the still and sparkling tastings because both are very distinct. Prices are a little higher than other places, but you won't be disappointed. The women who work here are very chill and donned beautiful wraps (that you can buy there). They do not allow big parties and encourage you to keep a close hold of any small kids or small dogs. read more

The winery serves only rosé and is very pretty. You have to get an appetizer with any purchase of alcohol, but they have some good options including lobster rolls read more

Wanted to LOVE this spot because I'm a big fan of rosé wines but the lack of all-around customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. The hubs and I waited about 10 mins before the "host" came to put my name on the list. No "hi" or "welcome" just a "how many in your party?" We were finally seated and our waitress was semi-interested in providing information about the wines. Our flight came out and before we could say "thank you" she placed our bill on our lil table. We added the bread and cheese spread which seemed to annoy her. That was the last time we saw our "annoyed" waitress. At check-out we waited another 10 mins but not before witnessing another "annoyed" staff member seem extremely bothered with a group of patrons buying a case of wine. Our experience was mediocre but the wines were decent and the place is trendy. This spot needs to find employees that take pride and actually enjoy their jobs. Very fun spot to hang out on Long Island! The backyard is so cool, it was packed when we were there but since we were only 2 people we were able to get in very quick. Dog-friendly, so we brought our little pup and all had a lovely time. It's definitely more of an event/hangout/party type space, not a "tasting room" where you silently contemplate the flavors and discuss the terroir with the servers. Expect a much more informal atmosphere and you will not be let down. In terms of the wine, I would say it's the best Long Island wine I've had (I found that LI wine in general is not my favorite but these were nice). As you know it's all rose, but they are certainly all different and worth trying. I liked the sparkling one the best! read more

I'm knocking team rose up a star since I came here last year. They've really upped their game with more wait staff and more tables to ease the inevitable crush of people seeking that delicious array of sparkling and still rose wines. One of my FAVORITE parts of the tasting room is it makes you feel like you're in Tuscany - they couldn't have been more thoughtful with the seating and ambience. My favorite is the Jolie sparkling with a hint of strawberry ... yum. Good for a flight or just a glass - my favorite time is after Labor Day weekend - if the stock even lasts that long. This is a cute little winery that has great rose! We visited on 8/30 and sat in the garden area. We liked all of the wines we tried, and even ended up taking a half-case to go! I only have 2 complaints: 1) very busy and they do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait. We waited about 45 minutes 2) like the above, if you need to use the bathroom - be prepared to wait! They only have 2 stalls in a trailer available and I had to wait in line for about 30 minutes to use. We actually left after our tasting because of this, otherwise we would have stayed to split a bottle.... Overall, I would return. Hopefully next time isn't as much of a madhouse.... read more
